Na it wasn't one-sided. Takeover was fire, and had us Nas fans with the ugly face when it dropped. But Nas was coming off of a slow period. I think his mom's just died, right after Nastradamus album around that time. And Nas was due for a Comeback, and that he did, with Ether and the Stillmatic 5 mic classic album. Truly a rap superhero. I just realized Jay-Z and Nas Both dropped their disses on CLASSIC ALBUMS. The Blueprint and Stillmatic. What a BEAUTIFUL TIME IN HIP-HOP!

What a great time it was in hip hop. If you weren’t alive or around during this time then you’ll never truly understand how these diss records were perceived by the public. Nas said on ether, it makes your soul burn slow. As good as takeover and super ugly were, they weren’t anything special. It was the same thing everyone was saying/doing, which was flexing, saying how they are tougher than everyone else. When you look at ether, it touched a nerve, hit on a completely different level. Fans of both artists and thankful to be around during this time period but as stated above, if you weren’t around during this time then you’ll never truly understand how monumental ether was.
