Combining elegance and luxury kislux
Someone was surprised that I drive a Volkswagen Jetta because they assume that I would have a more upscale vehicle. Absolutely not! My car is paid for and I refuse to have a $700 car payment.
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@VioletJessica- That's actually quite impressive, I could use some Info on your FA, I am looking to make a change on my finances this year as well
@@Margerat-x My advisor is Victoria Carmen Santaella
You can look her up online
@@VioletJessica- The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
this is so true! i have friends on very high incomes who complain about not having enough, over and over. it's so much more helpful to actually set meaningful goals no matter how big or small, then celebrate success.
I’m doing 3 years savings
I live in the USA. Along my old bus ride to work I would see the rows of tents along the sidewalks, I didn't even need to go to some "poor country" to appreciate that I am able to rent a room, with access to a kitchen and bathroom. I have health care coverage and social security income now that I can no longer work (after working 45 years). And I am RICH because I have access where I live to washer/dryer, I have internet and a computer, enough money for food, soap and dental supplies, I have a bus pass and when I joined a recreational group, there are two lovely people who are willing to give me rides to the meetings and events. I am richer than 90% of the world. Rabbi Hyman Schachtel (1954) proposed that "happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have".
Excellent information
My husband and I just bought a house. It was our one and only accomplishment we've had over the past ten years. We worked and saved, and lived in the cheapest apartments in town for over eight years in order to feel comfortable affording it. I was so excited and proud, showing people pictures before we moved in... and then people started judging the carpets, saying hardwood was better... judging the copper sink in the kitchen... saying what paint colors would be better... it made me so deflated and ashamed that I decided not to have a housewarming party. But really, why should I invite these people who refuse to be happy for me and my husband and instead treat our accomplishment like a disappointing joke?
New sub here. Hey from Alabama! When I go out with my friends, we barely buy anything and we use coupons for our lunch restaurants. I have like-minded frugal lady friends. As for my guy friends, they’re all really well off financially and they too rub off on me. They say you pick up your habits from the 5 people with whom you spend the most time. At work, i get free fancy water bottles. I take them home and reuse them for the family. We get free coffee, snacks and sodas at my office too. Those four days I’m in the office, I feel like I save so much. I bring the bare bones of breakfast and some leftovers or a sandwich for lunch. I supplement with the free chips and sodas. All of my coworkers use doordash or Uber eats daily. Other than the owner, I’m the highest paid employee and I never ever buy lunch. On average, the support staff employees spend $20 a day on lunch.
Order online, pick up and ger 5% back And with the instacart card I even get point rewards to use on next groceries. Plus is easy to reorder and reconsider "extras" like drinks and snacks. I still spend a lot because I insist in organic 😶🌫️
There is a really key principle that I think young people don't always understand, and that is TIME. When they grow up in a house full of 'stuff', they don't always realize that it probably took their parents years and years to gather that stuff up. I do a lot of DIY repairs on cars, house and garden, and I own a lot of tools, and have created a nice small workshop. What you don't see is that I have been gathering tools for 40 years, and since I take good care of them, they all still work just fine. My wife and I were paying off accumulated credit card debt as recently as 2014, and really did not have much in savings or investment. Once that debt was paid off, we were able to shift priorities and over TIME, start to create a decent nest egg. Part of that story is our incomes rose over TIME, as did our discipline. Things like index funds or 401K grow slowly over TIME, until they start to grow fast - which is exciting. Social media puts enormous pressure on young people to have it all now, which is not realistic.
Love the encouragement to be wise!!❤
Great video, thank you for sharing!😊
I have $10k emergency fund and a little over that amount in stocks as apart of my retirement plan because I don’t have a job that offers retirement. I’m sober and prefer to buy groceries and eat at home. The same people that complain about price of groceries eat out and order delivery and are regularly drinkers. The people that complain about gas prices buy luxury vehicles. Or they use regular and then damage the car, then complain about the price of cars even though they don’t choose the brand wisely and care for it properly. #CognitiveDissonance
Thank you!🎉
I have a 6 mos emergency fund and sinking funds. I got a part time job to help build it. I being good with money requires discipline and not buying useless crap you don’t need. I realize some people are having trouble covering the basics but it might be time to level up your job.
The whole I can never make enough money. Is the victim mentality that I taught at every angle. You have to change your mindset about not only money but how you go about life. Even if that means cutting people out. Once I did that, my whole life changed. I am finding all kinds of ways of doing things not only with money. The biggest advice is to stop being a victim mindset.
V, i have been a witness to inflation back in the 70's and I eas good. I had to learn money literacy over the years. I have heard those conversations of broke, inflation, etc....I am done with those conversations!🙅🏽
I have an 9 month emergency fund and working on 12 months! I delay gratification, am debt free and split living costs with another relative. It's possible!
The "everybody's broke" song makes people feel better about poor choices they have made to keep themselves broke. They feel like they are not alone in their poor life management choices. Misery loves company.
Hi there, very interesting content
1:28 I know the feeling!! How frustrating 😂
Even if everyone was broke, having the mindset of “how can I not be broke” or “how can I be better with my own finances” vibrates much better to help you achieve your own goals.
I think people are just simply impatient and want instant gratification. Saving money takes TIME. Time is money that you can’t take back. Time= wealth. That’s my POV on it. 💸💰 it really is a MINDSET, and consistency. Everyone’s situations are different, but you either make excuses or make it happen. Period. There’s a video of a single mom here on CZcams that saved $40K in a year. 🎉 truly I was inspired.
Thank you for making this video. Everyone isn't broke. People thinking that others are broke is contagious. But this mindset may present an opportunity for those of us with good money saving habits. Debt accumulation and negative consumer confidence could spur a recession creating buying opportunities in the stock market. Save and invest regardless of what others are saying or doing.
Love this video! Mindset is everything. It can definitely hold you back in life.
I get so tired of hearing, " it must be nice" every time my husband and I go on vacation, make a large purchase, etc. It is nice because we saved, budgeted and planned for these things. Sacrifices were made because we looked at the big picture. PS, I love all of your videos. I always seem to learn something new 😊
Yes!!! My husband and I hear this a lot. What people don’t see are the choices we make, saying “no” to unnecessary wants, living modestly, not having brand new cars, etc…
I don’t actually know any broke people, l’m certain they exist but none move in my social circles. Everyone I know has an emergency fund, mainly because we all have expenses so low that it would be impossible not to ( only bills are utilities, land taxes, medical checks, occasional transportation and food)
It does suck hearing it. I would love to do things with the people I love, but I can’t do the work for them and I can’t afford to pay for them.
I think many people like playing victim. I’ve sent people videos of how to tackle debt and open investment accounts (usually less than 10 minutes) to people who’ve asked me about money advice…not that I’m an expert but I do ok. I’ve followed up with these people weeks later and the response is always “oh, I didn’t get a chance,” while every time you look, they’re on instagram. I’ve thrown in the towel and decided to just do me. 🤷🏾♂️
We have a friend that made the comment “ I know y’all think I’m cheap ( from some of her financial dealings). I said no you are just being frugal. My sister sa bit later said “ she is cheap, not frugal??
Great video- 100% - scarcity mind set
Thank you! I saw a video yesterday where the woman was railing against living below your means. She said it's wrong to tell people to do that. So many in the comments were agreeing with her.
I have seen the comments as well some of those people are just lazy some people just don’t want to save for anything this is why sooo many people were struggling during Covid when laid offs or shortages of hrs took place would think people would learn a session from it all but no people are back to their old habits smh
I have been saving cash since January in a Amazon glass container that you have to destroy to open. I made the jar cute and colorful with holiday written on it. It helps because the jar looks pretty and I have to destroy it to open. It has worked. And have 6 months of savings already and 6 months to go.
Currently not really saving because what I would be putting in a savings account is going to pay down student loans debt
Thanks for the tips. I find it’s the savings that take ages to get together!
Everyone is not broke. People are just making different choices. You should always make changes for the environment you are living in. Love your tips!❤ We can make changes in our own circumstances, but you have to actively try and make small steps.
Money mindset and the energy that you bring forward is very important! There are some wise people, even everyday hard working people who have made amazing investments too!
i have seen people whom are well off financially and those who are not. the latter ones have a list of excuses at the ready as to why they dont have their finances in order. one has to start somewhere. i was not one to make excuses but i put in that work ot,investing, living below my means, paying myself first and it paid off. in a decade i have reached a point that i never thought possible even a few years ago. i think people defeat themselves by thinking it cant be done. my biggest fear was living paycheck to paycheck.
I understand exactly what you are trying to convey, but, to some people it is easier to complain and play the hard done by card. We all need, and have to, chart our own path, no one can do the hard yards for us. And that may be a difficult truth for some to swallow. Thoughts from a Aussie pensioner, love your channel x
❤
This is so true on so many levels!!!
The truth is, and I noticed people don't like to admit it, is they don't want to sacrifice to have savings.
Some don't want to sacrifice now to be able to earn a higher income later such career reskilling, going back to school, getting licensed in a new trade, etc.
THANK YOU!!! Some people aren’t trying to keep up with the Jones and can live within their means. And others recognize that they may not have the best money habits and are trying to learn and do better. 👏🤛🎆 Like, just because you want people to be as broke and miserable as you are (because you won’t try to change those habits), doesn’t mean they are, or have to be.
I always say, "Maybe the Jones' have the money to pay for it." The thought that someone can't afford what they have is just a way to deal with jealousy. I have access to people's financial picture (for work) and can tell you, a lot of people have a lot more money that you think.
You are right. I responded to a video, which said everyone was broke, by saying, Correction: everyone is not broke, and I thought people were going to have a nervous breakdown, they literally went ballistic. I knew then, that they are being completely brainwashed by social media, and are lost. I, am one of those people that saves for everything and always have. I have received a lot of flake about about it, but I never stopped doing it. I am now retired because I applied this mindset to my goal so that I could retire. I used to see and would often hear news broadcast and still do, telling people that they cannot retire, and I know of some people whom I worked with, who believe this, but I was determined that I was not going to be one of them. Its about believing in yourself, avoiding the negative feedback and setting goals, and also, as you said delayed gratification.
Some people are getting laid off and been laid off for many months especially when they mandated the jab so yeah people are frustrated.Thats great you are not broke but you should understand that some people are facing homelessness
@@BreeLove-zx5pz I understand that, but she was not talking about being laid off, and neither was I. I have been laid off, believe me, I know what it is like. Drinking water for dinner because you can't buy food, been there, done that.
Yes I tried to pay off my credit card every month, but sometimes I slip and it takes me two months to pay off my credit card, but now I have to help my parents with monthly bill, I know they say help yourself but when your parents need help you help there!!!
I'm a believer that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I was stuck and decided to start reverse budgeting and for me that worked! That means I save/ invest a portion of my income first instead of last. And put a portion of that into stocks like Amazon,Google, Nvida etc. It only takes about $10 to start. I'm sooo glad I did this! Instead of trying to save money maybe people should buy blue chip stocks, just a thought.
I am an average person with a low income and I have a over 6 month income emergency fund. How ? Because l did the work, I use the tips. I humble myself and follow God 's instructions.
