Technically flawless...yet lacking in emotion, practically mechanical, sadly. The pianist gave me the first hint of this when he shifted his body away from the keys. Other, more passionate pianists lean into them, lovingly coaxing the melody out of them. This pianist has great potential, I can see it in his eyes. He is searching to connect. I suggest he play this piece alone, during the midnight hour, with the moon shining through his room. Allow himself the freedom to flow with the passion of the music.

Seems a smoother tempo than others who played.. quite enjoy your playing. Sound is a gift we should never take for granted as it cant travel in the vacuum of space. One thing mankind has done with this Lovely gift is created the global language of music and you are quite a linguist my friend. :)

Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" is a set of 24 variations based on the 24th caprice for solo Violin by Italian Violin virtuoso Nicolò Paganini. The caprice of Paganini is uttered ver batim in the first variation of Rach's composition. From here the 24th caprice is transformed as it traverses through various keys. The most infamous of these variations is the 18th, which sees the Paganini theme turned on its head. Of this most beautiful 18th Variation, Rachmaninoff himself stated, "This is my favorite... I dedicate it to my agent". The finale sees the proclamation of Rach's obsession: the "Dies Irea" (or "Day of Wrath"), from the Latin mass which occurs in nearly every work by the Russian composer. The piece ends charmingly as a fortissimo build up yields a quiet response from the piano...the utterance of the original theme in a most playful manner.
