Recently adopted the sweetest dog from the local shelter and he’s going through this right now. He’s on both baytril and clavacillin and it seems to be working so far. Did they also prescribe nebulization for your pup? They’re having me do that for my dog too but it seems to be triggering reverse sneezing episodes.

A quick tip for your wife walking both dogs successfully. Run the leashes down the dogs back, loop the leash under the dogs belly, back through the leash making a sort of noose. The noose tightens and loosens as much or as little as the dog pulls. Works amazing, I’ve shown this to young teenagers that are having trouble with excessive pulling and it puts an immediate stop to the behaviour. Note it should be a noose not a knot and this is dependant of witch direction you bring the leash back through itself. If you do it right it automatically will adjust with the amount or lack of pulling your dog dose.

The biggest dream of my life is to know how to train ptsd dogs for veterans. I have dogs and they are my life and I see how smart they are and how many jobs they can do.

I never try and get a service dog attention. I understand how important they are to their family. It makes me so happy that some of the veterans are getting service dogs - I am sure that many more of our heroes need the help. Amazing work training these dogs to help.

Great video! I’m considering a second dog to my 2 year old beagle. Being a pack breed I’m sure he’ll enjoy it. I know the cons of vet and food cost plus the shedding but having two smaller dogs won’t be as bad. I’m fortunate that our breeder will board ours for free while we’re away.

How many weeks was he sick ? My beagle is going on a little over three weeks with pneumonia and it’s a roller coaster, one day she is good and then within a couple hours she’s wheezing

My dog is so sick right now. Vet gave him Clavicillin 2 days ago, but he’s no better. He is completely congested. They didn’t do X-rays because he said he didn’t hear anything in his lungs but boy does he sound awful when he coughs. He had a fever, it seems to come and go. He has absolutely no energy and I’ve been hand feeding him for three days-it’s the only way he’ll eat anything. We recently brought a puppy home from a shelter (in PA) she got it a few days after she came home, then he caught it. He has it much worse, he is older. If he’s not much better by tomorrow am, I’m taking him back to the Vet. Thanks for this video. I don’t know if the mystery virus is still around but it’s frightening.

First, I just love that face! Mo is just like a kid, as soon as they need to do something for someone to see, it’s a no. But he definitely caught some❤️

Hi my dog also got pneumonia, but shes a puppy and was in very bad shape. I gave her doxycycline but it didnt do anything and she continued to deteriorate. The doctor switched her to augmentin and enrofloxacin, these antibiotics work synergistically. (side node: enrofloxacin may cause puppies under a certain age to stop growing but it was strong and my puppy needed strong). I was also given a probiotic supplement. Probiotic supplements improve clinical outcomes in patients with pneumonia, so I highly recommend hiding it in your dogs food/a piece of chicken or something. I sat with my dog multiple times a day in the bathroom and let the shower run on hot and the room steam up so she could breathe in the steam. This helped clear her nose and helped her to cough up some of the pus in her lungs. I ran a humidifier with distilled water everyday which I rinsed and cleaned daily. This helped keep her airways moist and helped her breathe better. She would not eat her dog food so I boiled chicken, boiled salmon, boiled cod fish, boiled shrimp and alternated. In order for her to heal, she needed to eat so I really encouraged eating. She wasn't drinking much if at all, so I relied on these foods to give her water and would try to mix in chicken broth or things like that. I also had water put under her skin at the vet. After she started to feel a little better I just left tons of water bowls around. I also added rice into her food sometimes but she was less likely to eat that. I heard some people use baby food which may also work for people. Additionally I limited exercise almost completely, I didn't even bring her outside. I laid down a bunch of wee wee pads for her to pee and poop on. Mind you, she was in very bad shape and could barely stand. I just wanted to share what I did for my dog in case anyone is facing a life threatening pneumonia situation with their dog as well. My prayers are with you.

I live in Medford Oregon and this sounds exactly like my dog who isn’t around any other dog beside my other dog cannot figure out how she got it but she definitely is sick and has been fighting it for almost 3 weeks now will follow up on Tuesday with me vet yet again have had several visits in the last 3 weeks, also he hasn’t had any other sick clients besides our 1 dog because I called and checked too before we went back for our chiropractic appointment for them.

Hi, my German shepherd just got it Sunday and i took him to the vet first thing monday morning. All of a sudden sunday night i noticed he was shaking and I know it wasn't him being cold. This dog loves laying in snow. Then he started coughing and wouldn't put his head down to fall asleep and lethargic. My vet (Dr. Turk ❤) immediately did chest and abdominal xrays, blood work, etc. She listened to his lungs at first but couldn't hear anything but didn’t want to dismiss it because of this mystery illness in dogs. She said two dogs had died at home the week before. Xrays showed pneumonia in lower lobe of right lung. She put him on two antibiotics Augmentin and Enroquin. Along with cough tabs, appetite stimulate, and nausea medication. She said he is to be a couch potato! Doesn't even want him to get excited with people coming to the door! Another thing that gets overlooked, she was worried about was that he might get bloat because of of the way he was breathing was bringing air to his belly. Its the third day and he is getting a little better, hopefully in a couple weeks he'll be back to himself. Oh, he is 10 yrs old, we live in northeast PA, and besides the few neighborhood dogs he does not come in contact with many other dogs, doesnt go to dog park or daycare so where he got it from is a mystery also.

Did you give your dog both those antibiotics together? Or just one? My dog has it now. Not a bad case but was was given another medication. Thinking this isn’t strong enough.

My three Golden’s got this. I remembered your ordeal with Moses. My two younger dogs recovered within 3 weeks. My older buddy(11) is still really struggling!!! We are on our 3rd antibiotic for him. I worry every night that he might not wake up in the morning. So very worrisome!
