In the summer of 1995 I was so sick I could hardly walk; a year later (after I qualified for Social Security disability) nobody was as surprised as I was that I crossed the finish line in the Boston - NY AIDS Ride 3. Moving to NYC 5 years later was a dream come true since I didn't have to work and I had a collaboration at MoMA. Life CAN be beautiful.
