Where do you find those replacement parts?
www.autorust.com/safe-t-cap-kits/ That’s where I order them from, may be a few other places that have them as well.
@@millwright15 never knew this was a thing. Much appreciated and great video.
@@andrewpate9157 thank you, Sir! Very much appreciated!
i’ve had my liberty for a few years now, only just getting into modding it. these videos are an incredible resource! thank you!
Thank you!! I plan on releasing a new video soon!
That is some rust, on a 17 year old truck?! wow, very interesting to see someone even attempt to breath life back into this old frame. Amazing
This one was bad but not the worst I’ve fixed! Thank you!!!
Looking good like a Cherokee should!!!
I have been diligently trying to find another rust free one to build!
@@millwright15 That’s going to take a miracle but good luck and keep looking, they’re out there, but finding one won’t be easy.
@@StandAloneAdventures it won’t be easy or cheap!! I’m not giving up!!!
@@millwright15 That’s awesome because we need to see more of these Cherokee jeeps on the road and taken care of, I purchased mine new in 99 and it’s still in awesome condition and ready for any trail.
How much will it cost to be welded my frame is broke on both sides at the rear wheels
If I remember correctly on this particular job, the customer had less than $1500 in the total amount. Parts and labor.
Question for you whereabouts did you find the safe t cap for the frame
www.autorust.com/safe-t-cap-kits/
Is there any way to do rust prevention on the sending unit? Could I spray some Sta-Bil Rust Stopper up there or is that asking for an explosion? hahaha. All these gas tank sending units just rust away.
I would try fluid film. This customer said he was going to undercoat this one. I’ve been using a good paint and fluid film on the others I have done. I really like how it holds up!
@@millwright15 Just sprayed Fluid Film yesterday for my first time - smells like paraffin wax and the MSDS does say paraffin wax. Not sure how they claim it's wool sheep oil. hahahaha. Yeah I got the Black Fluid Film - I liked it also! Should creep better than RP-342 - for the inside of the box chassis. Thanks for the feedback.
@@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 you’re welcome! Always trying to help anyone I can!
Pretty lucky that Safe-T-Cap is designed for this frame. Very impressive work. thanks
Yes, I’ve used them a lot! Very good product! Thank you!
Whereabouts do you find the safe t cap at?
@@edwarddobson9937 search online for their website: Safe-T-Cap. I had to get a custom designed repair kit from Taboo Customs out of Iowa - he mailed me a Chevy repair kit for a Colorado but it's the same frame as a TrailBlazer. hahahaha.

EXCELENTE OFICINA PHD.AUTAMENTE ESPECIALIZADA.
Thought bout doing fenders like that outta sheet metal
They worked pretty good!
Appreciate the info I'm still weighing the pros and cons of all the options. It's blows my mind that I can spend twice as much on axles than I bought my jeep for lol
In the front Dana 44 build I have just over $4200 in it. Only gave 4500 for the liberty 🤣
Also, you are quite welcome for the info!
@@millwright15 I've got an 00 xj running 31.5s with d30lp still with 3.55 gears. Want Either a d30hp or d44 with 4.56 gears on 33s. Luckily I have the Chrysler 8.25 29 spline out back so I'm just going to truss it with 4.56, ox locker, chromoly shafts and a disk conversion and call that done.
@@randomritchie A D30 will handle the 33’s just fine. I went way overkill on a D30 build for an XJ with 4.88’s, RCV’s, locker, trussed, gusseted and it held up to me beating the daylights out of it on 37’s for about a year!
@@millwright15 That's what I was thinking, junkyard d30hp is still cheap. Buying a $3000 d44 and dumping another $3000 into it was really hurting my brain. I don't beat up my rig mostly intermediate wheeling.
I believe the auto industry is maliciously and on purpose using a steel that is designed to rust quickly!
I can believe that!
So I have an 08 kk on the 2.5 lift. How were you able to fit 33s without rubbing
Oh, buddy. Watch the previous videos on what I did to make it happen. Too much to explain. The videos do it better justice.
I bought my Silverado new in 2010. Its a 2011 model with the full box frame. It was Fluid filmed within the first month of ownership and reapplied every year. Inside the rockers are shiny and frame is still solid. Factory put some weird wax like coating on it and possibly no paint under that. Fluid film keeps it all soft and together. Best money for prevention I can recommend .
IF and I mean IF I ever buy a new truck, that’s the treatment I will give it. Have used fluid film on the last 2 trucks I’ve done and I’m impressed
undercoating is the wrong material to use because it can encourage rusting when it cracks and hold the salt. The answer is an oil based material that can't crack and protects the metal form corrosion. Otherwise, great video...
I have used fluid film on the last 2 I did. I definitely like it a lot better than the undercoating!
Nice job
Thank you!!
i put the rear frame under mine saved alote of work
We tried to find another frame but there were none in decent condition here in the rust belt. Closest one was Florida and it was pretty pricey without shipping it to Ohio.
Hell of a view!

The Ram looks good, nice job. You have a great attitude and tons of patience, hats off to you, sir. I, too, live in the rust belt (upstate, NY). I purchased a rust free '07 Ram Mega cab Cummins from Colorado because every truck i found in the northeast was severely rusted. I've had the truck back in NY for about 10 years, and yes it looks like a NY truck now, unfortunately. So this spring, it's time to get out the grinder and welder and replace my rockers. Im not a great welder or bodyman, but this old girl deserves the best makeover I can afford. 😊 About 250k reliable miles, looking to squeeze out many more. I do grease the front drives half. Once you find the location it's easy. But finding it is the hard part. The needle grease gun fitting does work well. I had to torch the bolts off my spare tire winch last year, replaced it with new dodge unit. Now I keep it well covered in fluid film. Got to love rust belt vehicles. NOT.😊 BTW that other Ram in the driveway looks beautiful. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I still have this truck and have done some more tasteful/functional things to it. I’m definitely not a fan of working on rust belt vehicles but enjoy the seasons!
Thanks for the video. Now I know how to handle my S10 pick up.Were rusty frame thanks so much
No problem! Surprisingly, that’s one truck I haven’t done any frame work on.
Should have did the hole frame
I believe he did the whole frame when he got it back
undercoating is normally a bad deal because it cracks and allows in the salty Waterloo sit in the cracks accelerating the rust. You need an oil based product that cannot crack. Ziebart and other hard undercoating are finished.
He used an oil based undercoat and did the whole frame I believe.
How much was all that?
If I remember right, he had less than $2500 in everything. Parts, labor and coating the frame.
Man that looks like allot of fun😂watching this gives me places to look for when i shoot mine with oil in the fall, its a 2012 with 100 000 mi with a solid frame!!
Definitely give it an oil bath if it’s solid!
My 2008 is in about the same shape. Ordering the SafeTCaps for it and will be doing the same job. I recently did cross members on my son in laws 2000 GMC and surprisingly his frame wasn't nearly as bad as my 08. Probably due to the box style frame holding all the salt on the 08 compared to the C channel style frame on 99-06 models allowing water to maybe wash away the salt is all I can figure. Also, I ordered the center section from Taboo Customs as their price was much less.
I’ll check out taboo customs! I couldn’t tell you how many of these trucks 07-13 I’ve fixed. Definitely enough to warrant a recall from GM
I owned a beautiful 2006 Silverado 1500. Frame rot got it last year. That was my Last Chevy I'll probably ever own. My last 3 Chevy's all hit the junkyard in the last 6 years. Great drivetrains, but bad bones. They all ran great going to the junkyard.
GM definitely needs to figure out something with their frames. Better coating or metal. I’ve saved a lot from the junk yard here lately. It’s been quite a while since I’ve owned a GM truck because they rot quicker than the others around here.
Enjoying your video Thanks for sharing Cheers
Thank you!
Chevy should have recalled those frame in all honesty. Every northern one in the 07 to idk 13 range got shafted. My 08 less the 80k when we got it frame rot starting just like this one at 100k. I think its because they boxed the frsme.
The only ones I’ve see that are good are ones people have had coated with something other than what GM puts on them. There should definitely be a recall like Toyota did.
I agree regarding the boxed frame compared to 99-06 C channel frames not rusting out nearly a bad.
Too much work for a gas truck but I admire your dedication 👍 well I guess not bad if you didn't pay much for the truck
It definitely was too much work! Bat as you said, the price was right!
Wow. Thats a crap ton of work. They just dont make em how they use to.
That’s for sure! Wish I could say this is the worst one I have fixed but it isn’t!
Only thing i would have done differently was go ahead and just coat the whole rear of the frame. Maybe take a lil but of the other rudt off before hand
I wanted to do more and offered to do more but the customer was eager to take it over from where I left off. He did end up coating the whole frame very good.
@@millwright15 niceee
the only thing I would have done differently is let you do it!! 🤣 Great Job
I would take care of it! Thank you!! Getting another one finished as we speak but the customer didn’t want it filmed! 🤣 I told him he didn’t have to be in the video, just his truck!
Hi love the jeep liberty just one thing is that the front fenders does not go with the mood of the jeep, but great job 👍👍
Definitely going to be building different front fenders! These were definitely meant to be a quick temporary thing!
Are the 35’s going to be for sale now?!?
Not 100% sure yet. May put a lift on the Grand Cherokee and see if I can make them fit. 🤷♂️
I believe its overkill for the liberty. But better to build it right the first time than break it every time. 👍👍👍
Awesome, Gonna be a killer Liberty!
How much did it cost you if I can ask?
@@jeremywahl8544 $1500 for the axle, $1500 for the RCV axle shafts, $500 for the 5.13 gears, bearings and seals, probably another $500 or so in the unit bearings, ball joints, calipers, breaks, rotors and axle tube seals. And $300 in the truss and gusset kit. That’s $4,300 and doesn’t count for shop and welding supplies, paint, grease and oil. So, just a little bit of money in this axle 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video buddy! Doing the crossmembers on a new to me 08 crew as I type this out.
No problem! Thank you for watching! I’ll be getting another truck in to do soon! Good luck and stay safe!
Pretty sweet axle my friend. Our KK build came off jack stands last night.
Thank you!! I seen that on the KK group! Looks very good! I’ve probably got a month or two before this one is off jack stands! My work schedule sucks!!!
