I will probably stop buying video games once everyone stops making physical. I really hope Nintendo keeps making physical forever. I don't mind missing out on playstation/xbox, they've been awful recently.

I'm OK with the optional add-on but we all know it's not going to stay that way. This is the start of the migration, sadly. We can only hope that consumers stand together and not purchase these consoles unless we have the option for physical media. Sadly, history shows that enough people RARELY come together to force these kinds of changes. They'd rather complain and comply.

I’ll probably never stop collection physical media but definitely agree it is getting a lot less popular I just hope streaming apps get really expensive and people realize I should just actually buy and own the movies or games I want to watch

I haven’t plugged it in since the server shut down. It’s not letting me play at all and the gamepad says it couldn’t connect to the console. Is it too late?

The price won’t come down to less than 500 bucks until the PS6 is announced. And nobody should pay more than $450 for it. It’s going to be a rip off for the next 3-4 years.

As an east coaster that has never been to the west coast I can say… the west coast is much better. Collecting here is bullshit. We have to many resellers to gamer ratios so the prices are super expensive

I don't want to admit it, but the direction is set. I am happy I gotta live to the end and experience it. I'll be waiting for the GameStop trade in bonus to be good enough, or the highly unlikely price drop on the disk edition. I am going to be physical media until the bitter end.

Finally one of the few reasonable reviews on the topic. For me I stopped at some point with physical copies because the collectors editions got worse in quality and rare. So I don't care about a missing drive. As a PS Enthusiast I will get a PS5pro, I am looking forward to play games now in 4k60 (or 1440p120 hopefully) on my 43" 4k gaming monitor properly. Remember, a PC for 800€/$/£ will not bring you the same performance and most games on PC are already mostly ordered digitally via gamecode/steam etc

DIGITAL GAMES SHOULD BE HALF PRICE

I think Grand Theft Auto 6 will be the first big game that is digital only. Why pay the money to print all physical copies of the game if stores are starting to not carry physical media anymore? People will buy the game regardless.

Disagree Mort. As a consumer, we still have the power. I don't plan on buying a PS5 pro anytime soon. I think I'm going to purchase a used PS5 physical and keep it at that. Nintendo probably has a customer for life now.

I've never had an issue with digital games even going back to Steam launching back in 2004, but I still prefer my physical media too. My bigger issue is that the "extra detail" that was pointed out isn't something I'll notice while playing a game & I've got no problem with the existing performance modes on current hardware. If I want the best possible graphics then I'll just use my PC that is currently sitting disconnected (need to change that) & leave my PS5 for exclusives. Didn't buy the PS4 Pro & it's value proposition was much better. The best game all year so far has been Astro Bot & that could've run on a PS3, if not a PS2.

I don't care about if games became digital because at that point I will just buy a pc. Also I never had a console and wanted to buy one so can play and collect games but if they become digital I think pc is a better option.

Digital media is a problem, cuz when years down the line you go to download a game you bought previously and suddenly it’s either unavailable or downright gone completely from the ps/xbox store. It’s already a thing they’re doing and few ppl talk about it!

I won't stop gaming when the all digital future comes but I'll probably never buy games at launch any longer, least I'll be very selective about it. Wait 9 months for that sweet 40 to 50% discount.

And the worst i call gamestop to see how much they would give me for my older ps5 and they are not taken non hard drive ps5

I dont like it not having a disk drive because for $700 im not getting “The best PS5”. I have not used physical disks consistently since the Xbox 360. I have a digital edition now but its the principal that will make me hold out until the PS6

This is my exact outlook on the situation with the ps5 pro, the writing has been on the wall for a long time covered up by thinly veiled curtains. I’m still excited for the console as a whole, and I will end up getting one in the future when it’s on a deal sale, or something along those lines.

My big issue is that I cannot afford to buy digital. The only way I can play the latest releases is to buy them physical and then sell them after I complete them. So going digital only means that I wont get to play many of the new AAA releases unfortunately

I think switch is one of the best systems to collect for to be honest

I’m not giving up on physical yet. I’m going to continue to only buy physical and hope that enough other people do so that there is still a place for us who prefer it.

I think it will be safe to skip the pro and just wait for the ps6 . Honestly I haven’t played that many good games this gen for ps5 or Xbox series x . I feel like I’m Still waiting on launch titles for this gen

Why do you say the Wii and 360 were the last physical generations? I get that a lot of games have day 1 patches but many games come fully complete too. The way it works now is the disc is being wrote to the storage of the console instead of the game being played off the disc. So still physical just a little different.
