In ancient times, dreams were seen as visions from spirits and deities, but the 20th century brought scientific perspectives. Dreams are hard to define, with some seeing them as memories of nightly experiences and others as elaborate, narrative-driven creations. We know people dream about two hours nightly, often during REM sleep. Dreams may help consolidate memories, process emotions, plan for the future, and protect neurons. The purpose of dreaming remains unclear, but they undoubtedly fuel creativity by linking new and stored information.

    Can we please talk about corporate greed? This does not tackle the whole issue. I haven’t been able to buy a house thanks to these interest rates. I have the money but hell no to those rates. Even with my initial mortgage five years ago I would be paying 100% more than the value of the house overtime. Can we please talk about that? How you literally pay twice as much for your house?

    • @rexstanley5682
      @rexstanley5682 Před 4 dny

      Sure, there's corporate greed involved but to say you can't buy a house because of interest rates is a very narrow view of the situation. I bought my first house in 1977 with a 10.625% mortgage. If I had kept those rates for the full term of the 30 year mortgage, I would have paid far more than twice as much for that house. But no one does that. When rates fall a couple of points (+/-) you just refinance. When they fall some more, you do it again. Throw in a couple of moves with the equity you gain and it becomes a manageable problem. To say that my lifestyle in those early years was spartan doesn't really cover it but you'll get through it and build your resilience to adversity along the way.

    • @broheim23
      @broheim23 Před 4 dny

      @rexstanley5682 From a strictly economic point, I agree with you. However, as a fair comparison to today's economy, when you bought your first house in 1977, the median price for a new single-family home in the US was $48,800 and the median annual wage was $13,570. In the first quarter of this year, the median price for a new single-family home was $420,800, and the median annual wage was $59,428. In 1977, the median annual wage was roughly 27% of the cost of a new home. In 2024, the median annual wage is roughly 14%. That means as a ratio of income to home price, the home price has roughly doubled. I'm fortunate that I live in my third house, which I bought in 2019 at a rate of 4%. If I was trying to buy a house today, I wouldn't. These interest rates are INSANE when the median purchase price for a new single-family home is $420K.

  • @NextVoiceUHear
    @NextVoiceUHear Před 6 dny

    Your first premise is incorrect: It is NOT 'rising prices that devalue the US Dollar' >>> It IS the "printing" of several Trillion unbacked US Dollars (Deficit Spending) annually that devalue the US Dollar. _That_ causes prices to go up !!

  • @MrWhipple42
    @MrWhipple42 Před 6 dny

    There’s a lot of nonsense in this explanation. First of all, demand does not cause inflation. If consumers demand more of a certain good, the price of that good will go up until supply increases, but simultaneously, demand for other goods will go down as consumers shift their preferences from one thing to another. The net result is no change in *overall* inflation. The reason for inflation is entirely based on the money supply: When you have more dollars chasing the same amount of goods, the cost of *all* goods goes up. In the modern economy, inflation is entirely the fault of the Federal Reserve, which prints more money to pay for deficit spending or (as happened in 2020) to give people "stimulus checks." Secondly, deflation is not the horror that some economists portray it to be. Yes, some people will put off making large purchases, but the vast majority of the things we buy are things we need right now. You’re not going to forego buying a coffee today because you think it will be cheaper tomorrow. If you need a car, then you need to buy one now; most people are not going to just walk or ride a bike for a year until car prices are lower. Rapidly dropping prices could be a problem, but a small amount of continual deflation is good for consumers. Economists like to lay these problems at the feet of consumers when the real problem is government monetary policy.

  • @marcoborrillo8097
    @marcoborrillo8097 Před 6 dny

    who made this video, the central banks? This is completely false! Inflation happens when money is printed, thus devaluing the total net worth of all the money. And a country doesn't have infinite money, the money is finite. You divide the total value of the country by the number of bills in circulation and this gives an approximate value of each bill, plus or minus for psychological things such as "confidence." The total value of a country is hard to predict but it has to do with the Gross Domestic Product (what everyone who lives there makes) plus Land and again that pesky Psychological Factor (remember folks that say "Germans make good stuff"?) And of course- there used to be gold as well as other hard assets. But in "Fractional Reserve Banking" the total value is basically unknown (or unpublished) and the bills in circulation is controlled by a central bank. IMO, "Inflation" is the Tax that everyone has to pay. It is controlled. It will be as high as our Rulers deem fit, and they are greedy. So they will make it as high as they think they can get away with.

      I think it's obvious to anyone who understands the complexity of global and national economics when they see a comment that is clearly driven by popular political talking points rather than actual economic factors. There are also other dead give aways too - like oversimplified and simplistic conspiracy claims of nefarious entities like "the central banks" . Please... spare us your opinions.

  • @broheim23
    @broheim23 Před 6 dny

    The rising of employees' wages over the last three-ish years has contributed so little to inflation that it is negligible. The two main reasons we have seen higher inflation: the massive stimulus bills the gubmint passed in 2020 (which resulted in an over-supply of money) AND the consequent indiscriminate raising of prices by every corporate entity from raw commodities suppliers to the grocery stores you and I shop at. Don't be fooled by any reason given about the ridiculous inflation we've seen lately other than this: the gubmint did what it thought was right during COVID (increasing the money supply... that'll help the majority of people... right?!), and the resultant greed when virtually every company realized that they could now charge more (significantly more, in many cases) for the goods and/or services they provided. It is NOT a coincidence that corporate profits BLOWED UP in 2022 and 2023...

      I took Econ in college and never really fully understood why increasing the money supply increased inflation. When I have more money, I save more, but that is not what the overwhelming majority of Americans do...any cash available is spent almost immediately.

      @@alyssahaschenburger2115 perhaps but do you have any examples of companies whose returns on capital employed have increased significantly to support your corporate greed claim? too many people get upset when Company X reports a profit of 5 billion and say "wow, that is crazy...5 billion profit is just greedy"...but if Company X had to invest 200 billion and are getting a 5 billion return, it is not crazy, it is not even a good return since it is only 2.5% and better risk-free returns are available
