I make these out of reclaimed fir and ash.The lid is engraved for the borders of the letters first, then textured by hand. Box joints are done with a pantorouter.

Very nice. You can save some time because there is no need to rough it first when using that tapered ballnose :-)
Were you using straight water for coolant???
