Almost at a 100 subs! This was originally supposed to be part 1 of a weekend challenge! This was actually filmed in April, I apologise about the delay in uploading but I promise I will begin making a habit of it! This was 12 hours work from 9-9. I fabricated all the inner arch that was very rusty out of metal and panel beating, I tried to show as much as possible without it becoming too long. T...

I like the POV clips, adds variety to the video. Don't overthink the videos, make small changes and build it up from there :) You've made huge improvements since the early uploads
Thanks for the feedback man, will try to do but need to get motivation to get through the paint work prep stages 😫 congrats on the 1000 subs!

Keep up the great work! Its coming along really well
Yo hooded, thanks man I appreciate it 🙏 definitely getting there, off this weekend so hopefully can get a good start at getting it in primer
I like the fact that you show your dodgy welding. It makes your video's good.So hard learning to weld and then having to do it out of position is not easy. We have all been there. Do you use 0.6 wire and cut the tip of it when it balls up so not so much heat is imparted to metal? I have used 0.6 and 0.8 on sheet metal and the difference with 0.6 is amazing. Improved my welds no end.
@@garethmillar6685 Hi Gareth, the point of this channel is to be honest and realistic coming from a beginner point of view. I have always used 0.8 as advised from a friend of mine who is a full time metal worker, not really sure why think it is more so that it can tackle thicker when needed. I cut the wire if it is sitting a while because of contamination reasons not so much for heat dissipation. Might have to give 0.6 a go next time around then!
@WeeJinterz Try it, you will be amazed. O.6 lets you away with so much. Quick fast hot weld with good penetration. I felt like I could hold the torch on forever without blowing holes the first time I tried. My son, who welded professionally on heavy stuff, also thinks so. I am also in the beginners' class like yourself. 0.8 good all round but 0.6 the dogs cohonnas for what we are doing. Could be a good utube vid for you to do?
@@garethmillar6685 definitely could be gareth tbf, I have recently been speaking with a fella from back home that restores classics full time and asked him and he said 0.6 and nothing else 😅🤣 I'll give it a go! Maybe I will do the front pass sill after all!
I think it looks better then the hole, at least from far enough distance
oh yeah definitely it does, and its legal because no sharp edges. Definitely could have paid more attention to the masking but can still cut and polish
Love this. Finally don’t feel bad about my own bodges
That's the goal to be a realistic amateur channel 😅🤣 and show the good and the bad

Hi guys, Sorry about the silence towards the end. Neighbour was listening to loud music resulting in a copyright strike. I am editing the next mx5 video and I'll have it out soon. As I want this channel to be transparent and want everyone to see any faults I am publishing this video to show you my naivety towards bodywork and how difficult it is, so if you are a true DIY'er there is no magic here. Just do as I say not do what I do 😂😂 Thanks again and sorry no mx5 for now.
Great progress so far! Keep up the good work
Thanks man appreciate the comment 🙏 it's an uphill battle for sure!
ur an idiot (you told me to say it)

Hey thanks for your support btw ❤

Hello just subscribed to your channel and looking forward to seeing your restoration.
Hey awesome man I really appreciate 🙏 slowly getting somewhere but it's hard coming from a desk background 🤣
I'm looking into starting the same body work on my eclipse gsx. Videos like these are an inspiration while I'm taking the car apart to locate the rust. Keep up the good work, looking forward to future videos!
Hey thanks Philip! I'm starting to learn that the rust is the easier part compared to paint! Aha will have a couple of videos up this week if you fancy learning from my mistakes, I'll always do my best to be as transparent as possible!
Video timing is definitely getting better!
Hey thanks for checking out the more recent videos, I appreciate it! I think this is the last video before I have the action cam for pov shots as well 🎉
Doing well, still can’t figure out how you make sense of those internal panels but every wee bit makes it look more like a finished job…. Keep it up.
Not sure what drill bit you are using for the spot welds but you can get a specific one that might make life a little easier, maybe also a couple of welding magnets to help hold parts in place and give a bit more space in place of the clamps. That’s some proper mansplaining from someone who hasn’t tried it….. 😂
@@bernardtrainor7077I have magnets 🧲 but I find that they are good for larger pieces with more surface area, they are such a pain because they get covered with swarth 😂 yes I'm using spotweld bits as well 😅 both types actually the circular cutter bit and the ground stub drill bit for marking it just is that much of a pain lol thanks for watching Bernard I'm glad you are enjoying my struggles 😂
Hope you guys are enjoying this cleaner more raw type of video, sorry about my thick accent and mumbling I'll try and be clearer in the future. Anything you guys want to see just let me know.
Next welding video is up on the channel folks!
Wee bittaa wd40 get that rust sorted
In an ideal world, still need to spray on my MOT in a can lad ahahaha
I can feel your pain 😂
We are getting somewhere eventually 🤣 it gets worse btw!
Surely being low to the ground suits u😂
Quite the opposite ahahahaha
Need to get an English wheel next
I'd rather have a bigger place and a two post lift first 🤣🤣🤣
Got to love a mighty micra. No better feeling than driving a slow car fast as they say

Some yoke for that money lad , I’m from Northern Ireland as well and I found your channel only last week hai , keep up the good work lad , just know there may be few of us watching but we do appreciate your videos , I own 2 Mazda mx6s and owned 3 at one point so I am a huge Mazda fan 🤣🤣🤣
Alright lad! Really appreciate your comment and the kind words. Yes mate I'll do my best to keep uploading and try to do it more regularly. I love the shape of the mx6s proper rare car now though 👌v6 from the would be cool in an mx5
A wee minter jinterz. Health to drive! That's a long boat journey back if you came home on the ferry. You never seem to get by the Isle of Man. I bought one of my imps home that way on the day ferry. The micra has 8bhp more than the imp. You have a flying machine! Get the Mazda videos edited and online. Whatever you do with the micra is grand.
Don't think i'll be home for a while! I would love to see a hilman imp really cool and unique wee cars, I wonder what would weigh less aha I would say the micra is probably down 10 or so bhp lol, I will get on the mazda videos, thank you for your comment it really means a lot.
New video is up on mx5 bro I'll have another one up by next Friday!
Hi Gareth, Just letting you know I have two more videos up on the Mazda since the Micra video,, cheers!
I am in agreement with your decision
£150! Absolutely minty as well. Chasing another one 20db quieter thats 150l for £120, if I get it I'll do a video on swapping the pressure switch. If I keep this I'll do an enclosure with pc fans for airflow and sound deadening
Show the whole process. Fabricating/welding and the rest. It all part of it.
I'll start recording again then 🤣👌
First video is up on dealing with that side, sorry for the delay
Shes some yoke lol
Plenty of filler hai 🤣🤣
Kurust is basically phosphoric acid suspended in liquid latex. It's the phosphoric acid that converts the rust in to black oxide and the latex just seals that in. You'll get better results just painting on a thick layer of phosphoric acid and then primer over the top once it's dry. The cheapest source of phosphoric acid is to buy a big 5l tub of limescale remover.
Hi Peter, thanks for the advice I'll definitely give it a go when I'm back on the car.
Great video, keep it up. Love a wee side quest
Thank you man! 😊
Loved the video, man! 👍 Your content is really engaging and it's great to see your passion shine through. I have just one small suggestion - consider incorporating more timelapse or fast-forward shots to slightly shorten the video and maintain a lively pace. This tweak could enhance viewer retention and watch time, making your already fantastic content even more compelling. Keep up the amazing work, looking forward to your next video
Hey man thanks for the advice will definitely take note, sometimes as working by myself it can be a right pain to set up time lapses and try and get more dynamic shots but you're right I need to try and cut down on the talking head shots and get more action shots. Thanks for the kind words and support 🙏
Hi Michael, I have been trying to incorporate more action shots recently and less talking head after your advice, I've put up a couple videos recently allbeit more mx5 welding then anything else, but take a look!
You managed to make that look good despite the difficult start. As for preventing rust get the door catch off, light switch and bush then spray the crap out of in there with some Dinitrol cavity wax. Hopefully that will help keep things at bay. Just check the drain hole’s don’t get blocked with it.
Will do Bernard! That and some rap encapsulator aerosol with a big long nozzle as well before cavity wax
Lets goo! New Susc
Thank you man appreciated! Been sanding last couple of days 3 hours a day! Ill try and get a video up in next day or 2 on the arch fitting!
Apologies for the angles, this was originally filmed in 16:9 for long format!
Great video, your wielding coming along a lot. Also hindsight is 20/20 not 50/50 😂 keep it up mate
Is 20/20 not perfect sight? Wish I had that lad 🤣🤣 50/50 means sometimes good sometimes bad 🤣🤣
@@WeeJinterz 20/20 because you looking back on the situation with perfect sight mate 😂
@@mattmccann2359 yeah that makes perfect sense in hindsight 🤣🤣
There is nothing here that scares you….. fair play to you, loving the progress. 🎉
Thanks! Appreciate you following along Bernard. Got myself a proper audio setup yesterday so hopefully that will get better! I'm actually just welding the inner arch to the outer ATM then we'll be on to prepping for paint 🎉
@@WeeJinterz next stage where it’s more finished and visible will be good. Keep it up!
Why not all
Ah we'll see! Should have the video on the sill uploaded tomorrow hopefully, just got the arche in today so need to figure out what cuts are needed for overfenders!
We’re you breaks not crying for mercy before this 😂
Mate no it just failed honestly, fronts were not even an advisory
My daughter bought a MX5 that had been sitting for a while so the brakes where done. When I took the wheel off one side fell out…. Other wasn’t far behind. All good now thankfully and they even got painted. Nice job on the Leon.
@@bernardtrainor7077 thanks Bernard, it was a nice change of pace from the cutting and welding that has been consuming my life recently 🤣 its a bit terrifying how they can just fall apart like that isn't it, guess another reason why miles are good got a car 🤣
Like the voice over, it explains what you are doing while zipping through the video… nice job on the video and the welding. Glad you got some proper gloves…. 😂
If u can get a scaler ( I call it a horse tail ) to get inside that lip
Hey Kasey, appreciate your comment. I have a cheap air hammer with a scaler attachment but it's stuck on! Any advice? I finger sanded with 36grit to bare metal with the milwaukee and checked the underneath to bare metal. Gave it the old go ahead and covered with rust converter and sprayed with zinc phosphate based aerosol. I would love to get my scaler working properly I'll definitely need it in the future. Hoping to get some 2k epoxy as well to brush on the insides soon. Really appreciate the comment man, thanks for watching.
@@WeeJinterz if your air hammers is air and not battery ( witch duh, it’s an air hammer) get oil. YOU MUST USE OIL WITH EVERY USE!. I don’t know how dry it is in side your gun. It may be cheaper to buy another one from harbor freight, which being from Ireland you most probably don’t have one. So try the oil first
@@WeeJinterz if the rust is to thick that stuff won’t matter
@@kaseyvaughn5963 I overestimated it, went back to bare metal pretty easy with 36grit on a belt sander
@@WeeJinterz oh inside that lil area where you couldn’t get? Good for you
I’m liking the new intro
Honestly just winging it everytime, maybe once I get enough interesting stuff I can make a real intro! Appreciate the comment man!
