    Thank you for this. You touched on something that I'm still not completely clear on. Do I need to/or is it recommended to get a completely separate bar code (UPC) for different formats of the same music album? Such a distinct barcode for the digital release, another for the Physical C.D, and another for the Vinyl release? Also, does the vinyl record release differ in any way from the others in terms of the individual ISRC codes (for individual songs) since it is basically all one track on a vinyl record? Thanks in advance, this is all so confusing..haha

      No... go back and listen to 00:13 - :23 again. As far as ISRC goes, if you have different versions of the same song such as a remix, an extended version etc. you should give them a different ISRC code that way the difference in the versions can be tracked

    I have stumbled into a weird one that no one has brought up on these kinds of channels, thought you might be interested. It's called, SoundMouse. They are a fingerprinting technology that the PROs are using. The problem is, they didn't tell the publishers they switched to this. So starting in 2017, apparently you have to upload your music directly to this company if you are an self-publishing. They account for various kinds of royalties that fall outside of the mainstream usages but also a very important one, radio commercials. The entire reason I found out is because I had a track used on a radio spot that ASCAP didn't pay for. They direct people to check with SoundMouse. So I have messages all over the place. Good thing is that it was my publishers job and they did it back in 2012. So hopefully that will get resolved after some time. The next thing I need to do is establish an account with them which is something I'm working on so that I can then upload the songs for fingerprinting that I have published myself. Passing this along, not sure why there are no youtube videos about this. If I complete the registration process I'll do one.

    What is the point of adding this metadata if you can then delete the inserted data with the same program? It's very important to insert the ISRC code, but if someone doesn't want to identify the tracks works for the rights, just use the same program to remove all the tags you inserted, right?

    • @TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy
      @TheMusicBusinessMadeEasy Před 5 měsíci

      The most beneficial part of embedding (in my opinion), is for radio who can immediately call up needed information for airplay. They still may ask for you to submit it anyway. The most important thing to do is to properly register all of the necessary metadata with all of the appropriate music industry databases embedded or not. Why would anyone want to take the time to import and edit info just to remove information that’s not theirs and won’t affect the music in any way, unless it’s the owner who wants to change something before sending it out? Even with embedding, song registration is key, and most important. Embedding is convenient. You don’t have to do it if you’re fearful or afraid.

    This exact thing happened to me in the past. I was producing two different singer/songwriter girls. And both deals fell through. One girl decided she wanted to go to college instead and left our agreement on the table. Never got paid for all my work. The other singer became pregnant and had to stop for a long time. When the baby was born. She didn’t have time anymore and wasn’t enthusiastic about recording anymore. I was 23 at the time. They were both 17. What a waste of time and experience, that I was actually glad I went through. It taught me a lesson. Thanks for this video.
