Big Lakers at White Otter
Our annual lake trout ice fishing trip this year at Brown’s Clearwater Lodge. We put a few nice lakers on the ice then took the sleds on a ride to the White Otter Castle on the north shore of White Otter Lake.

Skidoo Tundra. Is it the right sled?
zhlédnutí 39KPřed 2 lety
Why buy a Tundra? I’ve owned several models of snowmobile over the years. Today’s new models are built more specialty purpose than ever. Here’s my 2 cents on the Tundra, it somewhat tippy disposition and what I use this multipurpose machine for.
Snapper!

Snapping turtle in June looking to maybe lay eggs in the bed of a bush road. She slipped into the weeds on the lake edge shortly after my visit.

Yamaha 20hp outboard motor

Reviewing a 2017 Yamaha 20 hp outboard motor. After 15 years of running a fussy 18 Merc 2 stroke I picked up a new 4 stroke 20 Yamaha. Also worth noting - CHANGE OIL after initial 10 hour break in. Mine was not pretty when we changed it. Also - a major downfall in the Suzuki is the location of the oil filter. Yamaha is a fairly straight forward oil change. Filter easy to access as is oil drain.

I had a new Tundra a couple years back. Machine was tippy as hell. It sure seemed like it was trying to kill me. I acknowledge that at 70 I’m not as agile as I used to be. I got rid of the Tundra and bought tracks for my Honda Pioneer but had I chose to keep the Tundra, I’d have added the ski widening kit. Everything is a compromise.

Thank you. I live in the bush and was looking to buy a Tundra for my kennel helper. I think I'll stick with the Skandic.

Yes, the performance of the tundra would still be more tippy than an Expedition etc, it has not changed - but you get other benefits to the narrow ski stance like floatation and maneuverability in tight situations.

I bought a 2022 600 EFI LT, so far I am impressed with its tight turning and handling. But I did get an old lesson on an uphill turn in soft snow , forgot to weight uphill. Laid it on the side , put it in reverse and walked it out. Still in the break in phase.

I take my tundra xtreme in the mountains a lot and its really easy to side hill. Counter steering is a lotta fun with this design. Once I let someone ride it for the first time and they went 10 feet and they tipped it on its side on flat 3 foot deep powder

If we are talking tippy then lets not forget the infamous ELAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy is correct in saying this is a specialty machine for tight monouvering around the bush, not joy riding. Looks like my kinda machine for loging.

I own a 2018 Ski Doo Tundra LT 600 ACE. I bought the wide ski liners and the temperature gauge accessories. The ski liners help quite a bit with tippyness and flotation. The 4 stroke motor us very quite, doesn't use oil, starts at 20 below zero very easily and the fuel mileage on eco mode is fenominal! I love my tundra and I'd buy another one in a heartbeat! I've never got it stuck and believe me I've tried. Went riding with a bunch of mountain sled buddies and I made it further than they did that night.

The 1970 Olympic 335 I grew up with / learned to ride on was tippy but lean in the corners and you would fly thru a narrow trail.

I have a 24 inch wide track deep in the bush and it works great. Not tippy just need to really throw your weight around and keep momentum. Like any sled.
