    Recently bought an as new condition MPC1000 in black. Installed a hard drive, added JJOSXL. After buying and selling an MPC Live and One, the MPC1000 feels more like an instrument. I now have an old school feel instrument in a modern set up. I absolutely love it!

      @@eugenius1212 I don’t remember which one I was using but all the filth series are good for boom bap. You always get a lot of samples to play with. I think there are demo videos on the Drum Broker for each kit so you can get an idea of what’s included. They are all pretty similar though as he has his own sound. 👍

    I have a Native Instruments Kontrol F1 which is an impeccable bit of hardware that is hardly usable for its original intention imho. Gonna see if it works well with Koala for Mac OS (I know it will not work with iOS).

    I still use mine every day. It is still very capable tool for music production, great quality overall. BTW, it is over 20 years old, the blue one was released in 2003.

    Yo, I’m sure you have already found it by now, but it the record menu there is a feature called auto normalize, turn that on before you do your sample chopping and that will sort out your volume issue.

    Sorry to be pedantic but you don’t send effects to the pads, you send the pads through the bus effects, as with literally any mixer with send knobs. That’s the whole point of a bus, you have a single place that processes multiple sources which are sent through it. Also I think using industry standard terms like series or parallel routing helps beginners understand the terminology, which translates to other devices and mitigates confusion in overlapping terms.

    More JJOSXL vids plz! I have a 2500 with it and this workflow has been the most inspiring/ motivating one for me out of all the hardware/software I’ve used b4 (mpc 2000xl, Maschine, SP404s). I just got it last year and have learned it enuf to have a pretty smooth flow, but I’m sure there’s more to learn. Still reviewing older vids out here on utube too.

    Well... I feel stupid. Totally avoided this screen for months. Always went for list edit instead. Got so used to the Live and the One that the 2500 felt too "square" and "unorganic". Those new MPC's really spoil us

      @@nervouscooks hey mate, something I've not spent a lot of time with but would like to get your take on is the pattern function. You can create a bank of, say, drum patterns you use often, and then either assign them to be triggered with a pad or write it to the sequence you have.

    Kia Ora - thanks heaps for the mahi (work) in this set of videos. For me I cut my teeth on the sp808 in the 00’s. Then the Zip disk broke a good month back. I just popped out from under my rock and picked the 404 Mk2 this week. So for me the numeric start/loop/end point is my home base for editing samples via SP808 nomenclature. Small detail but that is where . . . . Arohanui bro.
