    Man im 5 ft 6, 218 pounds. 10 size boot. Somewhat afraid of heights, is the .5 too small for me? Should i go with the .75 instead?

    • @michigangrownoutdoors7254
      @michigangrownoutdoors7254 Před 10 dny

      @@rorynelson7548 hopefully this answer doesn’t piss you off, but if you’re looking for “comfort” I recommend the .75. It will have a slightly taller seat post and a medium standard seat which is the perfect size seat for these stands. The extra length on the front of the stand is nice… but it’s honestly not “needed” but could be great to have if you want to amp up comfort with a mesh seat. Mesh seat size takes up a lot of platform on the .5 in my opinion. Now with the .5… when you get up high, the platform shrinks. lol I also battle with heights but the biggest thing you need to remember with the .5 is it’s a minimalist stand. It’s not made for comfort or to be an all day sit and chill style hunt. So keeping that in mind, if your goal is to get your weight that you’re carrying in down… and to hop around and not be restricted to one tree.. the .5 with medium seat is the best stand for that in my opinion. But if you’re not worried about weight savings, and you’re not hiking a whole lot and you just want a light option, I’d look at the .75, if not the 1.0. You can get the 1.0 with a medium seat… and you’re looking at just a few minor ounce different in weight. It’s like 3 or 4 ounces if I remember correctly between the .75 and 1.0 with the same seat options. The 1.0 looks bigger in weight on website because it comes standard with the large seat. But honestly getting the medium seat matches the weight almost perfectly to the .75… and adds some width that if you’re really nervous in a tree might help you out. Being 5’6… the seat post options would all probably be just find in the standard configurations. And being 218lbs size 10 you will have good room in all stands for foot room, but the 1.0 might offer more width security for you and make the transition easier.

    Really interested to see how their sticks (compact preffered over doubles) pack on it. Own, or have owned, most of their stuff and never felt like the grommets provided much other than consistency and the JHooks were needed.

      I agree. The grommet holes match up for either the long or compact sticks. I don’t think they were designed to hold the sticks in rather just give an alignment for the j hooks or even maybe bungee or a rope/strap attachment. I don’t see any issues if I’m being honest. Should line up just like a normal stand, just no cables under them getting in the way. lol

If you want, you can take measurements of widths and lengths you need and place a custom order. Just make sure you add about 1/4 inch or so on width to also for over lap. Yes, all the stands have the bow holder holes IN THE PLAYFORMS. but the .5 seat (small seat) does not have bow holder holes in it. You would have to get the medium seat on it to do that… and it only adds a few ounces to the total weight. And the comfort and multi use function is there.

      @michigangrownoutdoors7254 Před 7 měsíci

      I believe they have made changes to the mesh seat. They had two seats that I saw break, but it was due to user error. They had slipped and fell onto the seat and it cracked some where. I don’t remember. And the mesh, while toe hooking, you put all your weight on that mesh on a knee point. Over time I could see that “stretching” but I think lwcg made changes to their bar to help eliminate that.

      I wasn’t trying to sound sarcastic or anything just curious as to how you would want to lay it out. I don’t think there’s a simple answer to people wanting to customize their stuff. Was just trying to see what your demands of the stand would be to make a best recommendation. If you’re not bouncing around a lot or doing multiple set ups a day or if you think it just adds a super cool look and feel I’d ask about just painting it your self and adding minimal strips. Where if you’re bouncing around a lot, and you want to set up quick and fast and speed is a factor I’d say more. Because if you’re in a hurry or you want to be quicker… that’s when you’re at most risk of noise. But if you’re just taking your time and being careful. You need less of it.

      I don’t get the load comments? They like EVERY stick are load before silenced with something like stealth strips. A friend of mine has LWCG doubles and they make these sound quiet as a church mouse. I got a chance to play with a Tethrd one stick and they sound like an organ pipe and same with my trophy line doubles loud as hell out the box. So I did order these and like everyone frustrated with manufacturing mess ups but I received my four sticks this week and the functionality of them is spot on for my needs. Some stealth strips or camo tape and as quiet as any other stick. Yes they are different then my TL doubles and think they aren’t gonna be for everyone. They function much like a Tethrd one stick as the step and stand-off are one and the same so this looks and feels different on the tree the a stand-off that can adjust to the lean of a tree. However I’ve been playing with them for 4 days now on hard slick barked trees, leaning tree, big and small ones and still haven’t found one I couldn’t climb. Like everything your not gonna make everyone happy and I agree this DISASTER that was the production of these sticks was very unprofessional but not sure how controllable. Now I never had trouble getting emails and questions about my order answered but if people did then bad on Latitude. In the end I’m glad I didn’t cancel order but understand peoples frustrations.

However I was getting a little nervous and was setting up my wingman as a one stick just in case. Now that I have them I threw them on the tree real quick and for sure they are different. They don’t have moveable standoffs and that means it’s not gonna seat on the tree quite like a traditional stick. Now that being said once rope is hooked up and step was seated I couldn’t get it to move. Yes I think while literally jumping up and down on it I’m sure there was some flex but that’s an extreme test. On a real small tree 6in dia I just double wrapped amsteel and it truly didn’t move. For me I think they are gonna be great but they are different compared to other sticks and maybe not for some. My only other consideration is a novix helo a surprise it’s made by the original parent company. Save $150ish maybe it’s worth it but truly that’s a couple weeks morning coffee from Starbucks. I made mistake in trying to save money on steps and after one yr already spent another $325. I bought the Latitude Carbon sticks just waiting for them to come in after six months. It’s tough up here in Maine we just don’t have dealers that carry saddle and mobile hunting stuff to try before buying. I’d have bought a different saddle then I did and quite honestly I would have completely gone to a Dryad Killdeer with mini Drya if I was to be honest or the TX5 minimalist if I were to do it again. Saddles are starting to pick up some traction up here but stands just aren’t a thing much up here unless it’s a climber or ladder. Then about 75% of people hunt from ground only and even less bow hunt very much other then in Oct just passing time pre gun season. They don’t get serious until our gun season as it’s a month long and during the rut. If I’d had a mobile saddle/.5 setup the last 25yrs I believe my opportunities would have increased dramatically!!! I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve still hunted in 3-4 miles and come across hot sign or a perfect setup but didn’t hunt it due to fact that carrying my climber just wasn’t viable. I get my info from channels like yours and Jason Samkoviac (? Spelling) since I can’t put hands on most of this stuff before buying. So again thank you!!!

    I agree, Dacquistos have always led the treestand market in innovation and truly hunt worthy gear. Other companies have good ideas sometimes, but rarely well executed. I've been "mobile hunting" since the 90's, so by now -I know exactly what I want and need for constant hang and hunts. The past few years, gear has come a long way, so I decided it was time to retire my old original LW assault and minis last year. I considered every other mobile stand on the market, money was not a factor; LWCG won hands down! I run a .5 with three 17" doubles, cable aiders, sidekick, pocket arm and wear an ultralight saddle as my harness so I can comfortably face a different way if the tree is really wonky. It's the ultimate setup and will last me the rest of my hunting days. Funny thing is, Andre already had it pretty right all the way back when. The old assault is not too far off from how great this is. The new tree bracket and platform teeth bite better and there's more adjustment for leveling. The little tees for strapping stuff are slick too. Otherwise pretty similar. The sticks are the bigger upgrade with how slim they pack and having double steps at the same weight and a little longer than the old single step minis. 17" vs 15" step to step

      For sure. I agree. You can get it done in other stands but this thing is just different. I have went through some other stuff before this. I got both the novix stands since they were designed from the original but lighter… but still I don’t think they’re bad stands they’re just not as good.

    If you get a ingwe gear one would love to see a comparison. Looks like the ingwe doesn't have as much leveling. But wonder if some of that has to do with the cable length they have on the stand

      It’s hard to say. I just don’t know if the ingwe would be worth the money in comparison. There’s more in the lwcg stands than it… and there’s nothing wrong with these. Tried and true. Ingwe… this is all new to them. I hope they got it figured out they have some nice stuff in it. But idk if it would be an improvement or not.

    Im 280lbs and used a 1.0 the first year they were out then the last year used an og .5. Toe hook them and my the fix platform without ever any structural bending or warping. Ive tried almost every stand on the market minus ooal hush. And by far my last and best treestands and platform i have ever or ever will buy.

    Great video. How do you carry your beast sticks with this stand?

      So I split the sticks up in pairs. I stack them one on top of each other and place them face down, and the using the tie down points, I wrap them up with my bow rope. I’ll make a video when I get back up north where my stands are.

    Good vid man. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding which seat to get for the .5. When you switched from the standard seat to the .75 seat, did the extra 3/4in of the .75 seat make it feel like you had less room while standing?

      Honestly you don’t really notice. When standing I suggest folding the seat up, when you do this you can really utilize all of the platform. There’s room to move around even with the seat down… I have another video that shows both stands side by side with the .75 seat on it. And you can see exactly how much room I have in the stand.

      @@michigangrownoutdoors7254 I saw your other video and it doesn't look bad at all. I was pretty set on the .5 seat, but I think I want the extra size of the .75. I'm going to use it with a saddle, and I sit a lot, so I want to make sure I have enough seat for my knees to rest on. Your vids have helped a lot, thanks!

    That stand with that pack loaded out, is still probably lighter than most other hang on stands. So.... it is still easier or as easy to hang that in that setup than a heavy bulky stand. People are going to complain over anything. Do what works for you, I hope to get that stand and pack before next season because it is a sweet setup.
