The whole point of the Kingsguard is that they are supposed to be more loyal to the king than to their families, but what it looks like is that Jaime said "LOL, nope!" and killed the king because his father was attacking the castle. Also, Aerys was a feeble middle aged man, and Jaime was a highly skilled knight. He could have arrested him or restrained him. Instead Jaime just chopped down an unarmed man in defiance of his sacred vows and then sat on the throne, an act of disrespect and possibly even treason, and made jokes about it, like it's no big deal. Ned has no idea that Jaime was serving a greater good, because Jaime is behaving like an asshole and, incidentally, not telling anyone that there are wildfire bombs planted all over the city.
