Smashing Summer Slabs Ross Barnett

The bite at Ross Barnett has been a bit tough these last few weeks, but we still put a few slabs in the boat...
Ross Barnett - Early Post Spawn Crappie 2024
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 2 měsíci
Focused on creek channel ledges containing brush piles/structure between 8-12'. Very productive day! No giants, but the majority were solid 12-14" fish.

Mid April Day on Ross Barnett 20240413
zhlédnutí 96Před 2 měsíci
After months of recovery from back surgery, we're back out on the water. The spawn is in full swing, but the current flow (26kcfps) due to heavy storms earlier in the week limited where we could fish... It was a good day nonetheless. Hope you enjoy the footage...

Slaying Grenada Lake Crappie - Fall 2023

Blessed to be able to fish Grenada Lake with my brother before the end of the season there. First time at Grenada will definitely be back. We had a blast. Many thanks to Trent at Grenada Lake Charters for an awesome day!
Ross Barnett Oxbows - Fall 2023
zhlédnutí 387Před 8 měsíci
Have been wanting to explore some of the old oxbows that developed off the main river channel before Ross Barnett was flooded. Today seemed like the perfect day to do that. Found some amazing brush piles with loads of crappie. The trick was trying to get them to bite!
"Moving Day" - Ross Barnett
zhlédnutí 109Před 8 měsíci
World record for most small fish caught in a day. Kept moving from spot to spot. Had a lot of fun, and started catching a little larger fish in the afternoon. Tough bite...but good day overall. Enjoy!
Three Little Ross Barnett Pigs
zhlédnutí 63Před 9 měsíci
Fished the main lake today. Went to some spots I haven't been to in a long time. The water temp was 78 degrees, and the air temp hit 90 around noon. The bite was tough, but we caught some good ones.
Just More Fishin - Still Working Out Sound Issues
zhlédnutí 27Před 9 měsíci
Sound is better than last week used the non-waterproof gopro housings, but the sound is still not "there" yet. Going to add external mics next time. This is a short video to show the moderate progress in sound quality. Also ran a GoPro 10 this week. The GoPro 10 has amazing video and real decent sound, but my computer wasn't powerful enough to process the raw data...had to order a new computer!...
Ross Barnett Early Fall 2023
zhlédnutí 146Před 9 měsíci
Disclaimer: Horrible sound, so this plays like a silent video. It's basically just me catching fish... With that, it was a productive day on Ross Barnett. Unusually calm day with slack current and typical Ross Barnett stained water. Water temp on top was 77 in the morning and over 80 by mid-afternoon. Crappie were in 6-10' in the morning and closer to 10-12 in the afternoon. Spent the morning i...
Love these videos! Christopher and I watch them before bed sometimes.
Glad you enjoy them! Give my grand babies a hug, please!!!
Not a fan of livescope but to each is own. Nice fish
Thanks.
Where upriver do you go? I’ve been thinking about trying up near Ratliff’s Ferry
Hi Matthew. I’ve launched at Ratliff Ferry a few times-you can definitely find crappie up there, too! I think the key though (regardless of where you fish) is that word, “find.” Depending on wind, current, time of year, etc., I explore/fish anywhere from the 43 bridge almost as far north as Ratliff Ferry, including the backwater areas when the conditions dictate. Setting the depth highlights (i.e. make 10-16 green) on my graph helps eliminate a lot of water. Good luck out there! And thanks for watching!
Thanks good job
Thanks a bunch!
Nice fish man!! Great video! I make fishing videos too and I love watching yours!! Keep up the awesome job!! 🤜🤛💪
Thanks so much! Glad you’re enjoying them!
2 questions What pedestals are you using in the front for your seats And where did you get your net From Natchez CZcams channel bumpy frogs fishing Great. Video
Seat Post: www.amazon.com/dp/B003GSYR4I?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Net: www.hawgfishing.com/ Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
It occurred to me that you may have been asking about the millennium umbrella holder and umbrella up front…. If that’s the case you can find those on amazon, bass pro, etc. Holder: a.co/d/0eV7JSkw Umbrella: a.co/d/0bPmtmyC
The base is what I’m talking about and also the net
The seat post bases are “stock”, but I did replace one. After searching everywhere and not finding any, I had bass pro order the replacement. Springfield label #8122072-RTS
The net info is in my original reply…
Another batch of nice fish !
Thanks, Ron!
I do the same style of fishing you do at oakatibee lake 5 miles from my house
Feeling that thump as the jig pendulums back never gets old!
You need to make some more trips enjoy watching you
Need some more trips at barnett pawpaw Pete I enjoy watching you are helping me try to learn the lake patterns
Glad the content is helping! Will try to get another video out in a week or two. The crappie should be stacking up on brush piles and flooded timber this time of year, especially after the sun gets higher in the sky. Generally speaking, I’ll be focusing on areas of water 14-22’ and target fish in 8-16’ for the summer season.
I enjoy watching you fish at barnett trying to learn the lake I just retired live an hour and half away th
Thanks keep fishing
Congratulations on your retirement! Thanks for the encouraging words! They were schooled up on flooded timber yesterday in 10-16’ of water. Be careful out there when outside the channel markers! But that’s where the flooded timber is….
you doing it to 'em. nice slabs!! thanks for the video man 👍
Thanks so much! It’s my pleasure!
I agree, your videos are getting better since your short time on You tube. Another nice outing for sure !
Thanks, Ron! Really just started posting them to share with you…but very humbled that others are watching too. If you have any thoughts on things we can do to make better videos, I’m all ears….
You are getting better with your videos, appreciate your effort sir, tight lines!
Thanks for your comment and encouragement! Tight lines!
I caught some nice 14" on a little lake near Muldrow ok Friday. Lost some bigger than that. Live worms under bobber, 1' under surface. Right up next to the cliff edge. Fun day.
Sounds like a really good day! Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed your video. I have been out of fishing in general for many years. I am looking to get back to fishing on a regular basis and teach my grandchildren. We live in Flowood for almost 4 years. I’m looking forward to getting back on the water thank you.
Thanks so much, and welcome back to the sport! The Rez has a lot to offer, so I’m glad you’re planning to get out there!
@@pawpawpete well good Saturday morning to you. I’m planning on taking the grandchildren fishing to one of the state parks about an hour south. Hopefully we will catch a nice mess. You have a wonderful weekend. God bless.
Yes! Good morning to you too!!! Hope you catch a bunch!!! Those are going to be awesome memories for everyone! Blessings to you as well!
Great video! Great info!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree with markhooper9052, I also like the split screen showing the live scope and the boat launch intro. Add a few nice Crappie, and it makes for a great outing.
Thanks, Ron!
Love the split screen with fish finder !
Thanks, Mark!
So was that 1st one a black crappie or a male white crappie?
It was a male white crappie that was black due to the spawn.
I love the solo boat launch! Show ppl how it’s done! ❤
Yeah, kinda had fun with that intro!
Great video! What line size and jig size are you using here? Maybe kinda go over your setup each time.
Thanks so much, and thanks for the feedback! I was using an 8’ ACC Crappie Stix pole with 6 lb Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon line on a Mr Crappie Slab Shaker reel. The jigs were ones I hand-tied myself on 1/16 oz Eye Hole jig heads. I use “snips” to cut away the collar & barb of the jig (leaving the shank completely bare before adding thread/chenille, etc.), so that reduces the weight of the jig slightly. The first three fish were caught on an orange jig head with chartreuse body and orange tail with some flash in it…but I eventually lost that jig to some brush. The last fish was caught on a yellow jig head with chartreuse body and yellow tail with some flash in it. Thanks again, and let me know if you have any other questions or advice!
Thank you sir!
My pleasure, sir!
@ccooley3734 - I am so sorry! Just realized the answer I gave was the gear I used on my Sunday trip! For this trip, I was using everything exactly the same, except the pole was a 10’ Mr. Crappie Slab Shaker pole…. Sorry about that mistake!
Great content. New subscriber here.
Welcome & Thanks! Please let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to focus or elaborate on in future videos.
Yeppers that lake has been spitting out 3lb-2lb Crappie since the 80's.👍 Gettum 😂
Thanks for the comment! Just started crappie fishing two years ago. Any time I land a two pounder it’s pretty special! Can’t wait to join the three-pound club! Tight lines!
@@pawpawpete Welcome to the Thump. We are all addicted to it. You are doing well with it only being 2 years. I grew up fishing The Rezz as they call it now back in the 70's. 😆 BE SAFE ON THAT FISHERY.👍 SHE CAN GET ROUGH WITH HIGH WINDS.🌬
@UnLikeU - thanks so much! I agree…safety first!
Enjoyed Pete!
Thanks, Robin!
Another good day on the water Pete. Looks like your surgery recovery is going well.
Thanks, Ron! Glad to be back at it!
We couldn’t have asked for a better day of fishing.
lots of good fish. My Tip would be for you to show more livescope footage like you did in your sardis video.
Thanks for the comment! I’ll look forward to doing that when I can get back on the water. Currently healing from back surgery…
Really love the radar visual! Shows when they get snagged. Funny at 11:30, phone starts ringing. "Sorry babe! Can't answer right now, reeling the Loch Ness Monster." 😆 Got enough fish there at the end to feed a small village. Well done gentlemen!
Jonathan - Trent is an amazing guide. We had a blast!
