Is it still being held now?

How long would you expect someone to take to be stabile in a neutral backfly position? I just started trying to backfly and found it very humbling. I feel like I'm trying to fly two independent objects. Everyone has a different way of coaching it. The only way I've found lift is with my feet fairly close and knees apart. And yes, it lacks stability.

APF "B" was my first license...always liked the instruction and topics the APF instructors cover...maybe it's just me but...I always come away with all my questions answered...looking forward to returning to Ramblers.

What a great piece of Australian history. Claud Gillar was a good mate of mine and I was saddened at his passing. When I emigrated to Australia in 1988 he helped me expedite getting my A thru D licenses. All are dated the same day which I guess is a lot of jumps in one day :-) Another good mate from Pakenham DZ was Billy Kenny. I'd never seen him with a lot of fuzzy hair before this film.

I recognised Ted Harrison (parachutist) at 1:37 mins and again at 5:28 mins into the video; and also Ed Fleming (American pilot & mechanic) at 6:53 mins.👍 Both men are long deceased. Disappointing the audio is not functioning.

What happened with that horseshoe @6:30 ? Even though the main is chopped it still seems attached. Not enough drag from the bag etc. to flip the three rings? Only comes loose with the reserve deploying. Sketchy indeed!

That brings back memories. Most of my jumps were at Wilton. I actually bought a 'Pygmy' piggy back system and an 'Aeroconical canopy. I went to Dave Smith's house warming party at Campbelltown. The other guy looks familiar but can't remember his name. Just noticed Graeme (or Graham) Hill momentarily popped into view.

Quite a few familiar faces there. I jumped with Jerry Bird for a couple of weeks at Hillman Farm in WA in 1976/77.

I see John Mahaffey and Lou Johnston again AND a youthful Ian Handley. Maybe Dave Smith in there too, not sure.

When that door opened on my tandem I didn't want to jump either. We were right next to the door and before I knew it we were out. However, if I had more time I probably would've rode back down too. Man I am soooo glad I jumped! Now I wanna do a aff course.

I swear I could be a national champion in half these disciplines! Australia needs a few capable jumpers! So sorry. I did better on my first jumps in half these categories! Hell would would of ever thought you just need to fly straight with a half barrel roll somewhere in the 5 minutes of boring ass fall to win it all?! Crazy! The sport has gone to hell!
