Basic introductions to SQA Nav topics.
BIG DISCLAIMER: This channel is not designed to replace proper teaching. You won't pass the SQA's just from these videos alone, they are just to help as a 'quick' revision of the calcs etc. alot of the underpinning fundamentals are not covered here, so unless you are some sort of genius you need to attend a full course to have a good chance at passing (and if you are reading this considering attempting the SQA's based just on my video's - trust me - you are not a genius)
In fact, if you are considering trying the SQA's without attempting a course of study at a proper college (South Shields Marine School has better than national average pass marks almost every diet, and I hear the staff are good!) then please instead just cut out the middle man and just donate the exam fee to me to go towards pizza instead of paying the SQA - it will get you the same result in terms of your ticket anyhow.

😀
How did you get the course?😊
using course quadrant: if NE + 0, if SE 180-, if SW like in video 180+, if NW 360-
Great videos, very helpful, thank you kindly 🤝 Please do more 👍🏻
Thanks very much! great explanation!
Many thanks for the great explanation!
how did you get the 48°39.2’ as course
Awesome the best video on RADAR plotting on u tube
Great video. Thanks for uploading. Going to my community tab. 👍
its really handy to just go over things after a long time and you give explanations for the reasons behind everything. you're a great teacher keep up the videos 🙂
Nicely explain sir
what happens if we have seconds in the initial positions? initial position i mean the latitude converting to MP how do you interpolate it please
What if that there is no lat b and long b ? And the given is only the distance, course and the current position of the ship. What would be the solution to this ?considering this to solve by mercator sailing.. ?? Ty
If you know a distance and course, you can transpose the 3rd formula down on the formulae sheet to find d lat. Once you know a dlat and a course you can transpose the second formular to find departure. You now have the starting lat and a dlat. Apply it and Find the lat of the arrival position. Now you have lat aand latb. You can find the mean lat. If you know a mean lat and a departure you can transpose the top formula for d long. If doing by mercator... Same thing for dist and course to find dlat. Apply the dlat to find lat of b. Find the meridional part of each. Find the dmp. You know the course and dmp so can transpose it to find the dlong. Apply it and you have position b
@@StevesNav thank you sir this really helps to my future career. Subbed you ch.
Thank you!! I am a maritime student and this helps me a lot to understand this topic. Love from Philippines 🇵🇭

Thank you sir, After very long time i got clear idea
Thanks a lot. Very clearly demonstrated.
great revision resource, thanks Steve.
very good explanation easy to understant
Wonderful explanation. Thank you! Could you make another video/explain wherein Current is involved to rendezvous with another vessel?
CAN U DO SEARCH AND RESCUE PATTERN PLOTTING?
Do you mean how to determine the distances for expanding square, Sector etc?
@@StevesNav yes sir. And plot via radar plotting
Thank you very much Sir, very helpful 👍
Thanks Steve for a better explanation. Can you please make a video on Fuel burner Questions.
Thanks for the new content Steve.
This is a great help! Thank you so much :)
Can u please upload search and rescue on plotting sheet
Hey, there is no such thing as knots per hour ? See video at 0.26 seconds in.
That is just my terrible Northern Accent on the audio - I said 12 knots throughout - not per hour.
Please can you upload Osc station keeping plotting method 👍🏻
Very helpful video !!!
Very helpful
Finally!! Looking forward to passing these exams!! S 🤓
very nice sir
