So the way that I see viper is a very team dependent dps, especially when it's ult is involved. You have to play around teammate position more and be aware. It still has decent poke damge on command and can do a 20k poke from range like drg but the ult is what differences it Low battle high viper is terrible in 1v1 but that's for all jobs(except nin) Picto to me is an easy job with lower skill floor and ceiling than viper hence it makes it super fun and enjoyable since there is less mental you need to do. I feel like it falls into the same category as and ast, drg However the job is complex when it comes to min maxing it damages since there's like 5 different variations and timing for when to paint and what you need for engages, it is equivalent to playing mch in that respect so c:

@@Masietro ofc i agree with everything ya say. But then again we play frontline where u can be the best player in the world but when 15 ranged ppl spam into u it's never going to be a fun time with any melee hahaha.

Something is missing tho, viper just feels so ungodly slow and snake scales needs to be changed into being able to move with it.

@@SleepyMockii I agree when playing melee it is exceedingly difficult to play into ranged The way I see it to counter is playing into situations where they have to fight, like nodes or objectives where they have to be in close proximity. And pray there isn't a whm

@@SleepyMockii to me if you check my viper guide I go alot about the pros and cons about the job, but yeah snake scales is a detrimental ability 90% of time. But also what makes it slow is that you're locked behind of gcd damage than ogcd

I've been finding most of my succes playing the job as a more mobile tanky ninja, that excels in AoE and poke damage. If don't see it like mnk or Sam or drg but more as a Ninja with more dashes I tend to play better.

@@Masietro That makes sense though I'd still say ninja is more tanky than viper meisui + huton let you get away with a lot more than snake scales imo and sukuchi is more reliable at getting away from big packs since no target requirement.

@@whodis3489 that's true but that's taking both youre mudras and makes you sacrifice your aoe damage for sustain and it works in a pinch but you're on cool down longer for damage Hmmmm Think of it like this you can't aggro solo as hard as ninja, if you've played sage, it's like that level of dive bombing Dash in damage dive out when you're semi solo , especially since you have Many charges you can act as bait with gaurd then redash out again. Technically allowing you sustain longer. But I will agree ninja when it flips to defensive is waaay more tanky Viper kinda flips it on your head. And you have to know your positioning well and enema positions more than other melees except maybe Sam dashes I would save it If

For maybe a little better than Sam for overall job level in FL

Viper is depressing to play in CC even when i use my LB they simply just run away even with my two gap closers LOL i hope they change them up to remedy this cause holy shit it sucks rather just be helmet and play DRG

Viper is good melee job but it's hard to use since you can be very squishy if you're not careful

@@Masietro I can definitely see how it's better for competitive balanced play, like for instance on red sands yeah. Never really fun to have the shield lunatender show up when the enemy is pushing, and later when you push you get the antlion. I'd like to have the map go through fixed patterns for both sides, even if the order is random, it would be neat to have it identical on both sides. However in frontlines I hated secure because it was always, always the same thing. At every game, same pattern, you replayed the same stuff like a broken record. Unlike CC frontlines lends itself a lot more to rng imo. That"s why the new shatter is so boring and tedious (besides the crystal licking). That's why onsal and seal rock always feel fresh even though seal rock sure could benefit from small balance adjustment on the spawn points.

Yeah there's a big difference in playstyle and comms and it's from all modes of play pve, FL, CC and Rw

Agreed was going to mention it on a later video but you can easily put yourself as a focus target then create a macro that targets aetherial manipulation on a focus target to tp yourself without selecting yourself Allowing you to keep the offensive by not deselecting your target

if we account for damage loss based on role just take the total base damage mentioned and then half if its tank, its 0.75x if they are squishy and .65% if rdm and dancer, I was planning on adding it in during my drafts but it would have been a wall of text, plus modes like CC and Rival wings have different values , if you want to look at the mitigation values check on the Square enix website or check the video we made exclusively for frontlines on our channel c:
