How to Increase Your Express Entry (EE) Score | Improving Your EE CRS (Comprehensive Ranking Score)
🌟 Welcome to Through Nicky's Lens! I'm Nicky, and in today's video, we’re exploring strategic methods to improve your CRS score, your Express Entry (EE) points, for Canada’s Express Entry system. Whether you're just starting or looking to refine your profile, these tips will help you maximize your chances of securing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency (PR). 🇨🇦
Key Strategies to Improve Your CRS Score:
1. Language Proficiency - Bilingual Edge:
📈 Strive for high English proficiency (CLB 9: IELTS Listening 8, and 7 in Reading, Writing, and Speaking).
🇫🇷 Achieving fluency in French can be particularly valuable, as there are specific draws for French speakers.
2. Education - Additional or Advanced Degrees:
🎓 Boost your CRS score by pursuing further education, such as a master's degree or an additional diploma.
📚 Having two or more qualifications, with at least one being a three-year program, can result in a significant CRS increase.
3. Canadian Affiliations - Education and Work Experience
🇨🇦 Points are allocated for Canadian education and work experience.
👩‍🎓 Obtaining a Canadian diploma or degree, followed by employment in Canada, can markedly boost your CRS score.
4. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs):
🏅 A provincial nomination adds 600 extra points to your CRS, making it an exceptionally effective strategy.
📍 PNPs are especially beneficial for candidates with in-demand skills or strong human capital.
5. Category-Based Draws - Targeted Work Experience:
🛠️ Focus on attaining at least six months of work experience in specific sectors/ industries such as healthcare, STEM, trades, transportation, agriculture, and agri-food occupations within the last three years.
🔍 These draws often have lower CRS score thresholds than general draws, making them a strategic option for many candidates.
In Conclusion:
Improving your CRS score for Express Entry involves a well-rounded approach: enhancing language abilities, pursuing further educational qualifications, leveraging Canadian experiences, participating in PNPs, and aligning your profile with targeted category-based draws. These specific draws typically require lower CRS scores, offering a valuable path to Canadian permanent residency for numerous candidates.

      Hi Kyari. Thanks for your question. Since you're asking about a PRTD I assume you applied for PR from outside of Canada. The time from medical and biometrics submission to get a PR Visa I assume you are asking about varies for each applicant and nobody can really give an answer for that unfortunately. The visa office processing the application as well as your application details will determine the processing time so I really can't provide a definite answer to that question. I'm really sorry.

      Hi Lateef. Thanks so much for your question. I believe it was in my Portal 1 video that I indicated that I received the email from IRCC with the information to login to the PR portal. I did already have a PR portal login as I was tracking my OR application there for changes once I received the notification that our medical was passed. I can't remember at what point I was able to successfully create an account on the PR portal and was able to track the PR application from there with more details than the EE profile was giving. When I received the email from IRCC that a new case was created for us in the PR portal and they included the link to the new case, when I followed the link and since I already had loving credentials for the PR portal, I was able to use my previous login details and go on to view our profiles there and then upload our photos and confirm our address for the PR card to be created. I hope that's what you were asking about and at least that's what I remember since this all happened more than a year ago. All the best, Nicky

    How to be nominated from a province. Thank you.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 9 dny

      Hello Christian 👋 thanks so much for your question. In order to be nominated by a province you need to research and see what programs the province that you want to be nominated by offer and the requirements for the programs. Take note of which program you may qualify for and what you need to have in place to be qualified to apply/ register on the website of the province to show your interest to the province. Once you meet the requirements the province will do periodic draws and issue invitations to apply to selected applicants. Once you receive an ITA you apply for the nomination and wait for your application to be processed. Thereafter, you would take the next steps to apply for PR through Express Entry (having received an ITA through EE) or apply through the Non-Express Entry portal. I did a video on this and it will go live on my channel in a few minutes. Here is the link to IRCC's website on the PNP process to get a nomination: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/provincial-nominees.html

    How to apply to Canada working visa?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 13 dny

      Hello Razaullah, Thanks for your question. I'm not clear on what you mean a Canadian working visa but if you mean a Canadian Work permit, there are several work permit types with its own requirements. You must do your research to see which you qualify for and if you are inside or outside of Canada or even need a valid job offer. Here is the link to the information on a Canadian Work permit www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/apply.html A work visa that I know is a visa that some individuals get to travel to Canada of a TRV is needed to travel to the country after their work permit is approved and they are outside of Canada. I cannot assume what your specific situation is so you would have to research on IRCC's website for your answers. All the best.

      @@RazaullahZulqarnain Thank you for clarifying your question. The answer that I provided remains the same including the link I shared. You must do your research to find out the options available to you. At this point, you would have to try and get a job offer from outside of Canada from an employer willing to sponsor your work permit via LMIA and go through the process. Those are not easy to get though. You can find and pay a regulated immigration professional to help you or do your own research. Information is readily available on IRCC's website. All the best.

      Hello Privy, I am sorry that the application submit button is greyed out. It simply means that something was not completed properly and I would definitely not be able to say without seeing the application myself. I hope by now that you would have figured it out it but if not, be sure that you indicated that you are applying for the PRTD from outside of Canada, that you completed all the forms properly, that you answered all the questions and did the declaration and checked any box as well as uploaded the payment receipt. I'm sorry I couldn't provide any guidance as you can understand why. You may seek professional help from a designated consultant or other immigration professional or something qualified to provide such support of you were unable to figure it out. All the best with your application.

    Is it mandatory to upload the ‘official’ transcript since the application asked for it? I thought earlier in the video you said it was optional once the completion letter is received

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 19 dny

      Hi Esiyana. Thanks for your question. I did say for the online application you can upload either your official or unofficial transcript. A transcript is a mandatory document for your PGWP application. If you look on the document checklist you will notice that it is. Also, there is a column in the document checklist table that says instructions with a question mark "?" If you hover over the question mark you will see the below explanation: "If you're applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, you must provide a final transcript from your school that confirms you've completed your study program. If you're applying for a visa to return to Canada and you have a valid work or study permit, you must submit your most recent school transcript. Your transcript must be on your school's official letterhead or printed from your school's website and should include information like: the classes you attended; when you took these classes; your final marks (if you completed the study program); the reasons why you didn't complete your study program; and anything else that could be relevant." The above information technically states that you can submit either an official or an unofficial transcript. I hope you understand better now. All the best with your application.

    Hey, I would love your review on my situation! I came to Canada in 2023 to pursue an Associate Degree in Computer Science, expected to complete it by June 2025. For work experience, I'm aiming to secure a job under NOC 22221, as it's in Tier 2 and recognized by the BC Tech PNP program. However, I'm concerned about the high cutoffs for PNP draws and my limited chances with Express Entry. After researching various options, I found out about the international graduate program. Yet, I'm aware that these programs are transitioning into three different streams, with eligibility starting from a Bachelor's degree, from January 2025. I have three questions: - Is it a good idea to transfer my credits to a Bachelor's degree to get more points? Should I do this now, or wait until the details of the new government program are released in January 2025? - Is the BC Tech PNP a good option for my situation, or should I consider the graduate streams? - I really don’t want to leave BC, as I've grown to love it here. Can I expect that things will work out in my favor? Thanks so much!

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 20 dny

      Hi Alex, Thank you for your question. In the pdf document IRCC sent when they requested the information from you about your last date of entry into Canada it did ask for your best estimate. Since you forgot that you flagpoled and you did technically exist and re-entered the country, I personally (but I could be wrong) don't believe it is a detrimental error although your last true date of entry was when you did the flagpole. What you could do is to reply to the email again and highlight to them that you forgot that you did a flagpole and indicate that your last entry date was the date that you did the flagpole, and see if they respond. If they don't respond, at least you did inform them. I think you should be okay. If you do feel the need, you may consult with a regulated immigration consultant to get their professional advice. Congratulations on getting the request to confirm your PR. All the best with the rest of the process ☺️

      @ThroughNickysLens Před 26 dny

      Hi Catherine; thank you for your question. It depends on what the question is asking you for exactly. If as you stated it is asking for the highest level of education that you have, in my view non-expert view, regardless of where you obtained that qualification from you must put your master's degree as your highest educational qualification. If the question is asking you for your highest level of education in Canada then that would be another answer. I hope this helps. All the best in the process.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 27 dny

      Hello Amin, thank you for your question. You may get extra points for an LMIA job offer in Express Entry for PR even if you are on a PGWP. So yes, your employer can apply for an LMIA but I am not sure of the process of them making such a job offer. Information from IRCC's website states that "If you are invited under the Canadian Experience Class, you don’t need an LMIA to meet the program requirements. But, a valid job offer supported by an LMIA can get you more points under the Comprehensive Ranking System. This can improve your chances of being invited to apply. So in that case, your employer may want to get an LMIA, even though you don’t need it to be eligible." Here is the link to read more on IRCC's website ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=698&top=29 I wish you all the best in the process.

      Hi KsAmJ 👋 thanks for your question. I'm not sure if you watched the entire video, but I believe I mentioned that we received the emails in each of our names that was in the application and as you mentioned all the attachments are the same. I did explain that we opted for one person to respond on behalf of the family and for them to create only one account so all of our PR could be confirmed under the 1 account. So I was the only one that responded to the email and copied the template 3 times into the body of the one email. We then filled out the information for all 3 of us in the application in the one email and got back to IRCC with the information they requested from us. I hope that was clear - so you can respond only one to the email that came for you and include the response with the information for all 3 of you in that one response that you will send back to them. All the very best with the rest of the process 😊

      Hi Rona. Thank you for your question. I did not personally use the PR portal to submit my PR application but I looked back on the profile I created for this video and I am seeing the following options related to a child: 1. Adopted child, 2. Child and 3. Step-Child. If you specific case, if the child is accompanying or not, you must know your relationship tp the minor, so if the child is your biological son or daughter, select child, if he/she is adopted then you select adopted child, if you are not the biological parent and the child is for your spouse then select step-child. I really don't know if that is your question but that is what I understood. I hope my response was helpful in some way.

      Hello Gren, thank you for your question. I was unable to find any information on IRCC's website that states exactly what the test for PR done check for but I managed to find what I believe is a webpage for an IRCC panel physician in Canada. The information reads "Applicants age 15 years and older are required to have a blood test for HIV, syphilis, and serum creatinine. Additional blood tests may be required depending on medical history and exam." I really don't know if they do a drug test for marijuana. What you could possibly do is call the office of the panel physician you will go to for your medical exam and find out from them what you should expect and if they do a drug test. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.

    Can a currently unemployed person submit an Express Entry application?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před měsícem

      Hi Prince Fiadzigbe. Thank you for your question. As far as I know, you may still submit a profile to get an invitation to apply for PR through Express Entry without currently being employed. The key is to ensure that you already do meet the minimum requirements for Express Entry through any of the 3 programs and meet at least the cut off score when IRCC does a draw. You may read more about the requirements of the 3 programs in Express Entry by going to IRCC's website by clicking this link www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/compare.html

      Hi Jade. You are welcome. I believe it's a similar process in Jamaica. Before coming here, I used to go to a doctor's office on Old Hope Road (can't remember the name of the facility now) and they have panel physicians that work there. I recall seeing people going there to do medicals there. There is also a provider in the same building that does x-rays and I believe they used to see patients there for immigration medicals as well. You could do the search on IRCC's website to see what the facilities are in Jamaica that have designed IRCC panel physicians and make contact to find out their process. All the best.

    Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing great. I have a question, and I do not know if you guys have already discussed it. I worked from May 2023 to February 2024 (10 months) in McBride, BC which belongs to area 3. Due to my husband's work permit application, we were forced to leave my work and the town. Today is June 2024, and I have received a new job offer to work in Ladysmith, BC, which belongs to Area 3 as well. Located on Vancouver Island. But reading the BCPNP Guide from the government does not help me to answer my question. Since the guide stated this: Regional experience: To qualify for regional experience points, you must have completed at least one year full-time (or full-time equivalent) paid employment: • in Area 2 or 3 (i.e. outside of the MVRD) • within 5 years prior to registering with the BC PNP So my question is is this regional experience accumlative? In addition, it does not say it has to be related to the job offer I am using to apply for my BCPNP not the job experience does not need to be within the same job position.

    • @ThroughNickysLens

      Hello Armando, thank you for your queries. Congratulations on your job offer. As far as I have read and understood, the regional work experience can be cumulative up to at least one year within the last five years. Additionally, from my understanding, the work experience, just like other qualifying work experience for BC PNP does not necessarily have to be for the same position/ NOC as long as it is classified as high-skilled work experience in a qualifying community. Since I am not an immigration professional, I would strongly encourage you to write to BC PNP by email. You can find their email address on the BC PNP website. They are usually very responsive to emails but will not answer case-specific questions since they do not give immigration advice. I wish you all the very best. Regards, Nicky.

      @ThroughNickysLens Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Yasmin, congratulations on the ITA! Personally I'm not aware of any professional designation that is associated with the teaching profession. If there are no professional designations associated with the teaching profession then you would say No. My suggestion is to check the BC PNP Program Guide to see if there is a section that explains the requirements for that question before you answer it. On my case that question did not apply to me so I answered no. I really hope that helps. Failing checking the BC PNP program guide, you could consider emailing BC PNP to clarify what they mean by professional certifications. They will answer general questions but nothing specific to your personal case. I assume they mean like if you are for example in an electrician role you would need a red seal designation or something like that. All the best with your application.

    Thank you for the video, does non-EE still needs language proficiency test as one of the requirements?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Jaoang. Thank you for your question. Non-EE or EE does not, as far as I know determine if you need to meet a language requirement or not. It is the requirements of the program or route that you intend to apply for a provincial nomination program say for example if you are intending to apply for/ register through the Skilled Worker category of the BC PNP program. That is the program that you need to look at to know if it requires you to do and have a particular score for a language test or not. Applying through EE or Non-Express e try after you get a nomination will also determine if you need language results or not so you need to then also check the documents checklist for whichever route you will have to apply for PR though after you get the nomination. For EE, at this time, you must have particular scores in a language exam be it English or French or both to be eligible to apply. The short answer is, do your research to see the requirements of whichever program to you wish to use to apply for PR to know what you need to have. I hope that explanation helps.

    Hi Nicki, I have been admitted into an MSc program in Concordia University- Montreal starting Fall 2024. I will be travelling alone. Do you know any international students who have gotten a fast visa approval in 2024? With all the recent changes made by IRCC to cap the in flow of international students into the Canada, it feels like they are now stricter?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Cheyanne 👋 congratulations on your acceptance into the master's program 🎉👏 Personally, I am not aware of anyone who applied for a study permit since the recent changes to the international student program. Based on the changes they announced, there would have been some additional steps and requirements for some programs so indeed, they will be stricter and I assume that it would take longer for a study period application to be processed. I recall how it was in my time during COVID when I applied for my study permit. It was a time filled with lots of uncertainties and long waiting for months but I want to encourage you to not overthink the process. Be patient while you wait. Generally, once you meet the requirements and have all the required documents and proof you SHOULD have a favourable outcome. Every individual case is different and it could also depend on the officer too, so processing time will also differ. Keep the faith. I know it's easier said than done though. All the best in the process.

      Hello Preet. You may find the answer to this question on the BC PNP website or the BC PNP program guide. The general processing time for BC PNP for an individual is up to 3 months or it could take longer since an individual's case may determine the processing time.. There are some occupations that are priority and may be processed within a shorter time. The best thing to do usually is to check the resources that the province makes available to all individuals who are interested in their programs. All the best.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Migrant, thank you for your questions. A job offer is something that you usually get from an employer before you apply for BC PNP depending on the program you qualify for. If the program you wish to apply for requires that the job offer is full-time, in my view, working for 4 hours per day for 7 days is not a full-time job. You may check the BC PNP Program guide to see what the definition of full-time is in relation to the number of hours you must work per week. I don't believe full-time is less than 30 hours per week but please do your research on relation to BC PNP to be sure. Employers must provide the following documents to support the employee’s application: BC PNP employer declaration form Recommendation letter Copy of the signed job offer Detailed job description Evidence of recruitment efforts Company information Copy of the Certificate of incorporation (or legal equivalent) Copy of municipal business license National Safety Code Program number (commercial vehicle operators only) I hope this is helpful to you. All the best with the process.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Kan. You are very welcome and thank you for your questions. Please find my responses to your questions below: 1. Yes, the application is asking for your parents and siblings information so regardless of where they live, even if outside of Canada you need to put in information for all of them, wether they are alive or not. 2. Is this question under the Attachment section of the application? I looked back on my application to be sure and the question on mine under Attachments reads "Did you claim points for language proficiency in English and French?" So it's asking if you claimed points for both English AND French. If you did both English and French language tests then you would say Yes, if you did just English or just French alone, you would answer No. I did only English in CELPIP so I answered No. I hope my responses were helpful. All the best in your application.

From what I noticed, there is an option to upload various other documents so in the documents checklist you can choose a variety of documents you want to upload as part of the application. The key is to follow IRCC's naming guide in the portal as I pointed out in the video and be sure to name each document and I would say name them separately and upload them accordingly to ensure you have uploaded all the necessary documents according to what you need to include for your dependent(s). There is no designated space to upload documents for dependents. I hope you did manage to figure out and submit your application already. I truly wish you all the best with your application for PR. Hi Eugene. You are very welcome. I did not personally use the Non-Express Entry portal to apply for PR I only did the video after creating an application and exploring the portal a bit. I believe you would put the police certificate and the passport for your spouse by selecting his application and looking through the documents checklist to find where to add them. czcams.com/video/_A_gVqWwhzI/video.htmlsi=YbC7bBHBtT76_X4V this is the link to the full video I went through. It's possible that the form you would find where to attach the documents for your spouse is IMM 5562. I could be wrong though. Explore the application thoroughly. Be sure that you properly indicated whether your spouse is accompanying you to Canada or not and the appropriate documents are submitted for him. I really hope you can figure it out. All the best with your application.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Dilpreet thank you for your question. I don't think I fully understand what you are saying as it's not clear but if you are saying that you are the one going to the border for your status and your husband's status is fine it's kinda hard to answer your question as I don't know your status and that of your husband. What do you intend to go to the border to do though? If your husband is the student then your status is tied to his. If you want to apply for a spousal open work permit at the border and he is the student he needs to flagpole with you and take his documents. If you are the student and you are going for a post graduation work permit then he does not have to flagpole with you. Based on how the border is set up, he can drive you to the closest point of the border that he can turn the car around and he's not actually crossing the border if he goes to whatever that point is. To flagpole you don't need a US visa, but if your husband is not intending to flagpole and he's actually not wanting to go into the US if he has a US visa then he should not go across the border, but only you who is flagpoling. Persons who are flagpoling can do so as a pedestrian so you can walk across the actual Canadian-IS border and and back. I'm not a regulated immigration consultant or a lawyer and I don't know enough about your case to share what you could do so please understand and be comfortable about the flagpoling process before you do it. Make sure you are still in status and good standing in Canada before you flagpole. All the best.

    Do we need American visa for flagpole

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Před 3 měsíci

      Hi. Thank you for your question. No, anyone that is flagpoling for the purpose of an immigration application does not need a US visa to do so. When you flagpole without a US visa you will get an administrative refusal to the US that should not impact any previous immigration applications with US or Canada. If when you are applying for anything in the future though and any question asks if you have ever been refused entry into the US or any other country you can say yes and explain that you flagpoled without a US visa and you got an administrative refusal to the US. If someone is driving you to the border and they are not intending to flagpole they should not attempt to cross the border. They can drive you to a point before they get to the actual border and park and wait for you as long as you are the principal applicant that got you to Canada and not them. If your status is tied to someone else like of your husband is the student in Canada and you want to extend your spousal open work permit then your husband would have to flagpole with you because you cannot just take his documents to do the flagpole. At least when I tried it that way to extend my family's permits they told them they cannot do it without me and they were sent home to apply online. Be sure you understand the flagpoling process before you go and make sure you have valid status in Canada before you do it. I hope all that makes sense to you. Do some more research to be comfortable you understand the processes involved in flagpoling and if it's right for you to do.
