Upgrade those floppy mirrors for late model power ones and color match them. I always put on later model fiberglass bumpers color matched also.

I was going to upgrade my brakes (and probably still will) but one of the Vanagon channel guys said that you couldn’t really tell a significant difference in pedal or stopping power , (I’m paraphrasing , but the guy makes his living off of selling Vanagon parts and was really downplaying any real noticeable improvement…) so , for someone not rolling in a lot of cash , what he said didn’t make me want to add hundreds of $ to my shopping cart anytime soon. Any thoughts ? Thanks !

Love this! I’m buying an 82 diesel at the moment. Exactly the same colour! Will also be driving it home through the Canadian Rockies to Manitoba. Going to be quiet a ride. great box full of goodies, you had small car do your conversion, were you happy with their work and any problems. I have talked to them. They were bought recently by a man and his wife,Austin I think. Have a 81 air cooled so the cost will be more but am still considering it.

Just a comment on the spare wheel; I learned that the old, stock 14 inch wheel can still be used as a spare. It does not matter if the other 3 wheels are 15 or 16 inch, so long as you don't drive too long with it. It will be good enough to get you home. Thus, you can still use the "clamshell" carrier under the vehicle for your 14" spare (assuming you still have one:-).
