I've already started to collect the old editions, currently i have 1 shelf almost full of Dark Horse Deluxes, Hellsing and Berserk complete, and the first volume of Blade of the Immortal. if i have to add Vinland that way as well i'd have to sell the other Vinland volumes, and it'd take even more space... so i'll stick to the omnibuses. Maybe later if i have more space. p.s: its norse runes, not latin. just fyi, great video though, thanks for the comparison!

@@gamingboy-du1pc 100% understandable and relatable. Honestly you do whatever works for you! Reading the comments on a lot of my videos I see how expensive things can be in different countries but at the end of the day as long as you can find a way to read the manga that's all that matters! @@cryn6519 The dark horse releases just hit different. I do wish more manga would be released in these bigger quality sizes. That's totally understandable. If I'm already collecting the omnibuses I don't see the reason to backtrack and sell them all just to start over with the deluxe editions. I also feel the deluxe editions might go up in price more in the near future. I also recommend checking out the high school of the dead color editions which are the same size as well.

I especially feel for younger people who are trying to collect manga now as prices have certainly sky rocketed. That's very interesting. It would be great if you had the link for that interview. I feel this topic is strange because there are many sources saying mixed messages. One thing I have found out for sure, which still stands true in my video, is that Junji Ito did 0 work on the game. No sketches were even started, let alone completed. He may have scribbled some stuff in his notebook, but that doesn't mean those ideas came to fruition. If the game didn't get scrapped, maybe then we would have seen more involvement from his side.

To be honest, since I don’t have a big manga collection yet, I’m leaning towards the singles. I like the cover arts!!!

I agree. The country on its surface is beautiful and clean, but there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes which are very disturbing and leading people to live unfulfilling lives. Overwork being one of many. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common trend in the manga industry.

Yeah I don't see a lot of manga anymore with the trademark SJ logo on the spine. My Death Note volumes are the oldest and they say "SJ Advanced" but the reprints in the box sets just say "SJ". Its interesting.

@@richtaku Yes, the box set has only been around since 2013 when the last volume came out. I've been collecting the individual books since 2009. I only found out about the box set years after it came out. I also think my silver books are generally nicer than the white ones. Furthermore, the box set is usually only available for the English market and I only got my books individually in German.

Personally, I would recommend Vinland Saga, especially with the recent release of new deluxe editions combining three volumes in one. Moreover, Vinland Saga is nearing its conclusion, making it a good choice for building a complete collection. One Piece is definitely an option too but catching up to its current manga status may be quite the journey. In conclusion, my vote goes to VINLAND SAGA! 👍
