Not sure it's a scam exactly, but deepfake porn made of you and spread around without your knowledge can be immensely damaging, especially against women. Sextortion is more common with younger guys, where they'll be convinced by a catfisher to send over nudes which will then be used to blackmail them into giving money or risk the pictures being sent to friends and family. There's so many places AI could make that worse, such as the catfisher using a chatbot or AI generated images to look real, or getting just a selfie and generating porn to blackmail with.

i was with you until the "protect the children" card was pull. I see way too many people trying to get thing banned in the past to "protect the children", it automatically raise an alarm bell and decrease my trust in the news source massively. So historically we got, non-christian approve book, newspaper comic, Dnd, rock n'roll, video game, internet forum, social media, etc. every single time, the claim is always children will get corrupt by these new media format and debilitate children from proper socialization and "this time is different". If we go back far enough in ancient, there was a time greek thought reading from book will harm children ability to socialize. I think people are just not used to transition in main media of communication, they cant explain this discomfort logically, so they always fall back on "protecting the children" as a default supporting argument. Once people get use to AI and new major form of media is taking over AI, i guarantee you that people will try to get that new media format banned and regulate and use "protect the children" as the default support argument again.

We shouldn't associate voice cloning with AI at all. This is not AI. This is machine learning. There is zero intelligence involved and using term AI is just confusing people.

Aaah my brain

I have been roleplaying with AI for over a year now, and I can only see positive effects on myself: my English has gotten better, I have learned many new things, I have worked out some of my psychological issues, my anxiety is lowered, and I have become independent from shallow female meatbags. You all underestimate how beneficial it is to have a non-judgmental conversation partner in our broken society, so I think parents' worries are unfounded, it's much better for their kids to chat with an AI than to slut around with stoners from school or socialize with predators online.

The first one happend to my parents. A call from an unknown number and an odd sounding "me" on the other end, telling my parents that "I" had a car accident. My parents are 66 and 72 respectivly and don't want to engage with most modern technologies. Thankfully they didn't give any personal info away, as they found "my" reaction odd. They tried to call me, but couldn't reach me as i was on a business trip. When i called back they were almost panicing. For a few weeks after that, they keept receiving several calls from different types of scams, about 1 or 2 a day. My mother would just hang up, but my father would say stuff like "well thats your problem" before hanging up. By now the calls have stopped, and we agreed upon a codeword in case i needed something and didn't call with my own phone.

Don't forget the other kind of AI scam. Companies pretending to use AI while actually using real humans to do the work instead. Check out Kaedim image to 3D. To be fair, I'm not sure how actively they themselves are pushing thay they use AI to generate the 3D models, but I've seen several videos that make that impression. I haven't "investigated it", so it's possible they're using AI more than what it seems from the resulting 3D models and that the "humans in the loop" are not much more than QA, but to me it's fishy.
