DIY Flex Clamp (2024) Soldering Helper
Hallo and guten Tag,
These are my Flex Clamps. The design is simple and universal. The design is very flexible in what Parts you can get.
You find the Files on Printables, leave a like when your there ;) www.printables.com/model/844916-flex-clamp
Besides the printed parts you will need:
- 12x3 Hole 4MM Ring Round Neodymium Magnets: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EyY3QHD
- Stainless Steel 10mm M4 Threaded Ball: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EvzBtmP
- M4 DIN912 Half Thread Hex Screws: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mMLHQVC
- M3 DIN912 Hex Screws (between 16 and 25mm): s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mOXqkn8
Optional for the base to have more friction:
- Rubber O-Ring 11x1.5 or OD-11 ID-8: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_om3l3We
For the tension:
Rubber band, or ball pen spring or a bottom spring with ID bigger than 4mm. For example
Length 15mm, 0.6mm wire diameter and 6mm OD s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ms6zM6w
If you go with the bottom spring you will also need a M4 nut s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mPlyFcE
The Top Jaw of the Clamp is designed to fit snugly onto the M4 screw. You might need some force to get it on, also depending on your printer you might need to use superglue if it fits to loose.
If you have any questions ask them here or on the printables project, I'll try to answer them quickly and if necessary update this description.

I've been working on a similar project but going for the full metal approach. aren't you afraid the solder or a heat gun might ruing the clamps? I don't have a 3d printer so i dunno if that's even a thing or if having a 3d printer makes it a non issue

    • @MakenModify
      @MakenModify Před 3 měsíci

I printed them in PETG and added a bit of heat shrink for insulation and better grip. So far I had no issue. That being said, i just used my soldering iron (no heat gun) and i only solderd stuff where I don't need ton s of heat (no XT60 or so). On the other hand if they should melt it's a 5min print. So yes it is a concern but so far not realy a problem

Don't be too hard on yourself about your router's accuracy. At 10:35, the entire body of the probe itself can be seen wobbling slightly, while its connection to your spindle is not, so aligning it is worth the effort. Also, I noticed a consequence of having a cable coming out the side of a probe is that it can cause the probe to rotate, as yours did at 20:58. Again, not an issue with your router, but something to consider when using wired probes :)
