Thanks man! It’s definitely something I drill into my own head constantly…to finish ideas. I actually am coming off the longest streak of not finishing new ideas in my life. So I totally get you but I feel like it’s easier once the ball gets rolling. Starting the ball rolling and committing to the idea is the hard part for me.

Normally when putting up my normal musical stylings it wouldtn't bother me, but I was really trying for something directly referential and fun and for a very specific group of people...but its incredible how fast a few nasty remarks can suck the air out of the room. The internet in 2024 is some kind of miserable sometimes!

But from my perspective, while internet 2024 indeed is an odd place, this is something that I have witnessed since I got involved in the music, and that's 30 years now (I started mid 90s as a recording assistant in a studio, , got the scholarship for audio engineering, ran my own studio for 25+ years). I will tell you what drives people nuts: jealousy. When people hear you can "effortlessly" produce and create music that they cannot, they go bonkers. The only difference is, in 2024. their rant is louder because internet is an amplifier for the idiot frequencies. As you said, this was a project clearly meant to follow certain sonic aesthetic - and I personally find it great, and I like the videos too - and I really don't see why would anyone be annoyed, except for the gatekeepers (as in any subculture). I saw your other video the other day, about your approach to music - and I must say I think this is what makes your music good - the ability and persistence to form an album, call it what you want, but rounded up, finished concept - most of the people in music struggle with tons of ideas, endless mix polishing, all that with the result of zero track output. So, keep on cracking good music and you will always have an audience, I have witnessed that, and am pretty sure it will stay that way. Cheers!

@@earlsfield that’s really kind man. I work obsessively for better or for worse and it’s definitely an focal point for me to actually tidy up ideas and projects. It’s so funny bc I think generally online people see the finish product and the way the presentation can make things seem effortless and they forget it is actually an insane effort to get it there…I’ve been downright embarrassed by how long some tracks will take. Hahaha. Running your own studio must be a whole other kind of crazy to try to pull off! Organizing groups of musicians is hard enough when it’s one band much less a recording studio’s worth. Welp…I’m sure I’ll end up going back to the other half sooner than later…but at least for now I can get something up in the form of a listenable 1/2 album/EP. :)

You know, i haven't really thought about it like that. I guess there is some truth to that huh. Typically you see the creation of an idea and then its built on from there. Thats a very positive way of looking at things. Thanks for that and thank you for the kind words. Cheers.

I appreciate that man. I worked super hard on this stuff even if it’s just supposed to be a fun thing. I wanted to get it all the be quite authentically in the style. I think that’s why I got so deflated by the bullshit. I obv take my work very seriously no matter what I’m making so to have these bozos just dismiss it like it doesn’t count is annoying. I’m sure I’ll go back to it again…I just want to at least tidy up this half for now before it stagnates and just gets forgotten about or I lose touch with it.

Thanks dude! You know..:normally I don’t let it get to me too much with my normal music but for some reason since this was out of my wheelhouse and supposed to be just for fun it really bothered me. It’s like it was kill in the spirit of the thing. Bizarre bc I feel like it should bother me less since it’s not my normal music.

That’s really nice to hear man! Also yes 100% that’s been the point! It’s supposed to be a fun thing since they seem to have dropped off the face of the earth. I just wanted to make a good version of something inspired by them but I’ve definitely taken quite a bit of shit about it. And please don’t feel at all responsible for the rebrand debacle! I had a few people tell me to do that! I think maybe I somehow handled it wrong and should have known my own lack of advertising prowess as a hindrance to that! Totally on me! I’ll definitely contact him! I’m not on twitter but I’ll use one of the other ways to contact him once it’s all done. Thanks again!
