Gear nerd stuff! Here is a quick sample, since some folks were wondering... what does the push-pull vintage tone selector sound like on a Rickenbacker guitar? They usually only put them on bass models. But they included it in the wiring for the 90th anniversary model 480XC. Here is a sample from a song I haven't released yet.

I had to make this video because someone asked for the picking pattern, and I don't know! I don't know what I do, it's just developed naturally over the years. Over 20 years of playing, in fact. So I figured the best thing to do was to shoot 60 fps video and slow it down. I think it's easiest to see in 25% speed, what do you think? Played on the Rickenbacker 6006 Banjoline.

I don’t know if you’ve tried one, but a Behringer Toro is a great replacement for the Taurus 1. Less customizable but it’s more accurate to the original and the presets are spot on. To get the dewtron type thing you just need to use the Tuba preset and roll back the filter to taste.
I applaud Mike for throwing out the idea that expensive, vintage, highly collectable guitars are what "rock stars play"...Squier Bullets were selling for $99 not that long ago !!! And now...one of the biggest selling acts in history...is going on tour with them... Go Mike Go !!!
I use latex tubing in the springs. Fold in half, pull through the spring with an old length of guitar string folded around the centre of the tubing, and trim the excess tubing ends after the spring is attached.

Eagles had broken up in 1980 (the first time) by the time of this concert. Eagles and Buffett were pals, so it was natural for Timothy to be his bassist. Timothy B. Schmit coined the phrase “Parrot Head” as everyone who reads this comment knows. Josh Leo, lead guitarist, is a Nashville first call and still owns Nashville. Mike Utley…no words for their incomparable, professional friendship/partnership from beginning to end. Sam Clayton (formerly of Little Feat) plays the congas. Little Feat was effectively gone during this same time due to Lowell George’s death. Both Eagles and Little Feat saw a resurgence. Buffett had so many famous, professional musicians in his Coral Reefer bands and albums is hard to keep up. Rest in peace to Greg Taylor. The original Coral Reefer.

This was a VHS tape originally. In the early part of the the show (between Grapefruit and We are the Parents) he says “…we’re making a parrot head film so you can this shit home…” I was surprised it never went to DVD, but think it was probably an issue with MCA. Bubba fans would have bought it up, but video was never available after the VHS release. But now we have CZcams! 😊
Yep, this was straight off my VHS. I learned a lot about transferring old videotapes and films to digital in 2020, so I put those skills to use on a few gems from what's left of my VHS collection. I'll probably put the VHS up on ebay this year.
