I rode one of these at Edgewater Park in Detroit when I was a kid 10-12 years old that would have been 63 to 65. The wall was sort of rubbery and corduroy to help you stick. The idea was to get upside down, that was the fun. You kept your gaze inside the ride so you didnt get that dizzy. Unless you foolishly looked up as you see in the film. It was fun, not anymore dangerous or nausea inducing than any other carnival ride. Tiltawhirl blecchh!

Actually, Gene London was in New York before he was in Philadelphia. He was Tinker Tom on channel 7 and he showed us kiddies how to do Arts & Crafts from construction paper with our Zippy scissors. He did a personal appearance at Freedomland and I got to shake his hand and mumble a few words to him. Then, we both moved on.

I absolutely loved Cartoon Corners. His show introduced me to the Beetles. Mean old Dibble Puss and scary Quiqley Mansion. His love for Debbie. His stories were wonderful and I loved the ones concerning Greek mythology. I somehow was able to email him when I think he was living in New York and he answered!! One of my best memories growing up in the 60's was Gene London. I was so sorry to just find out today that he died and that he lived in Reading which is very close to where I live. I wish I had known and maybe I could have met him in person to tell him how much his show meant to me as a boy growing up. Thanks Gene.
