Axial CJ7 Pure Rock Tire shootout!
Recent test of 7 different 4.75 tires. 3 comp tires and 4 trail tires. Jconcept the Holds(most hours of all the tires by far), Jconcepts Megalithics, Voodoo KLR V2 comp spec(brand new, not broken in). tires are: Hobbysoul Mudslingers, Hobbysoul Mud-terrains, Voodoo KLR/M, Proline Baja Pro X.
Test was preformed with the same truck, the same day for more accurate results. Keep in mind that a lighter or heavier truck may change the results. And the Voodoo KLR v2's were brand new and not broken in, they work much better broken in. The Jconcepts the Holds have 10 times the hours as any other tire there on them.

Just out having fun with the new sensored outrunner for the scx6. Really amazing how much power this little motor has and how well it crawls. Much of the footage took place with the truck in second gear! Running a 6s lipo and a Mamba Monster X esc. For our 1280kv version see here: czcams.com/video/6ZuGS_UFtNA/video.html

Wow awesome truck and performed bro! Greeting from Singapore
Overall great test man. Learned a lot from it. The lil jeep that could! Geesh that thing performed. Never woulda guessed it that’s good. If anything you may have sold me on a CJ!😁 seems like anything by proline works well, can’t go wrong there. Baja pros exceeded expectations. Kinda expect good things from the megs.
Would’ve liked to see a set of krawlers in the test. Compete directly with megalithic
What about the 14 pole 8s for the scx6? Mine didnt have the card and the wires are blue/yellow/green
Green=A, Blue=B, Yellow=C.
What 6s combo do you have I love it🇳🇱🇳🇱😎😎👍👍
I look out in that field of rocks and count how many times I bite it 😅😂🤣
Dod all of the tires have the same inserts setup as in the picture at the beginning of the video or did you adjust do to tire carcass stiffness? Awesome video.
Hope you do the lighter truck comparison soon
Just picked up a set of the Holds. Was wondering if you tried them with the tread facing the other direction? I believe the other way was meant for rock crawling. That's why the step design is on the tread, am I wrong? It would be like the..... "feathered edge". Try them that way and see what you think. Great tire testing and thanks......new sub!
I can’t get my yellow jacket to move slow at all
Reach out to us at 3brothersrc.com and we can get you crawling slow and smooth.
Hey thanks for showing me the video on FB. Subbed 👍
Is that CHEAT setting portion not helpful in crawlers?
Awesome tire test! I got a set of the JConcepts the hold after watching this for my cj7. Maybe I missed it, but where was the JConcepts the hold on gate 3?
Somehow, that particular video clip got lost. Also, the mudslingers on gate 2. I will say the Holds walked right up gate 3.
@@3brothersrc418 I figured something had to of happened to the footage of that gate. I assumed they did just that, walk up. I’m loving mine on my cj. Again, thanks for that test, I’ve been looking for a good tire, a good all around tire and The Hold is exactly that.
Great video 🤙
Very nice 🤙💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great tire test! I’ve never tried voodoo tires but gonna have to now. What area of Ohio? I’m in NE Ohio.
Just northeast of Columbus.
Ruptures…….only thing I’ve found close to pins. The voodoo high on my list but hate not making a crawl because of a tire…..
Same for me. But remember this test was with a fairly heavy trail rig. I will be doing a comp tire shootout with a lighter class 2 truck soon. I am guessing the voodoos will do better. Also they were right out of the package for this test.
Thank you that was super cool dude, this is the stuff and videos I love watching. Appreciate your sharing I’ll be watching for the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👋👋😎
Thanks so much.
Wow now those are some rocks cool 👍👍😎
Yeah voodoo KLR/M’s my go to tire I have four sets on for my rigs, also 1/24 scale there are not voodoo tires but they sure look like The same Yep here watching Saturday evening
What do you have for brass on it?
No brass at all. I lowered it and ran better shocks set up to 60% droop. It works very well for what it is. Love this truck.
That’s awesome man. I really like mine too and have been doing some mods here and there when I have the time.
Could have been a great video if it hadn't been shot vertically and then cropped.
Always looking to improve things. What are your suggestions using the gopro?
Cool lines and great tire information. Thank you sir
Thank you very much for your work. I'm now waiting for a parcel with 2 types of tires that took part in your comparison. This information is very useful for me. Good luck my friend. I can't wait to see how these koleas will work with Russian soil and stones...
Nice 👍🏾
Sanded my baja pro x down quite a ways. Work way better and lot wider foot print.
Awesome video!! I’m 10mn from that spillway. I seen your post you was going to be there doing this, but I had other plans and couldn’t make it down.
Great video Tom! Any chance you can give a run down on the set up for your CJ?
Great idea, Tim. Yes, I will make it a point to do so.
I’m interested in the CJ and any crawling mods you share would be awesome!
I would like to hear what you did to it also. I got the CJ for my Daughter and I was thinking I could do something similar to what I did for my Gladiator and Basecamp but I would be interested in hearing about your CJ before I start. Thank you.
Thanks for the rubber testing. Helpful. Question... how do you get your pylons to stick on the rocks?
The bubble lens is throwing me off. You can’t really tell how steep something is or how it bows, or if something flat.
Thanks for the feedback. I will see if I can improve upon that.
I spy a bmw 😆
Good eye!
Does the weight of the wheel affect tire proformance? I always wonder if I should run wheel weights and heavy wheels or or go light and adjust foams or inserts ? The whole weight of the rig wheels tire compounds , foams , 3d printed inserts. What is best? Hurts my brain! Lol so many options.
Good question. Whether wheel or chassis they put down pressure on the tire. Generally weight on the tire equals traction. Heavy wheels can help with traction. How heavy is too heavy? that depends on the truck. But if you have a heavy body and chassis, you want heavier wheels to help off set that high weight up top. And the heavier your truck is the more you need to support the weight through tire inserts. That is why with our Anti-foams they are tunable with tuning rods to support the weight of the truck if needed.
Thank you for the through and consistent test across the board!
Thanks! I loooove tire tests lol. Have you done the proline trenchers? I have them in predator with single stage anti-foams and they work amazing. Truck is just under five pounds.
We will be doing a comp tire test soon with the Trenches, and 6 other tires! I love the trenchers also.
Hey Tom great job on the tire test!!! Very helpful!!!!
Thanks Jason. We have a comp tire shootout coming soon!
Awe man. Thanks for posting on fb. CZcams didn't notify me. Been looking forward to this. Thanks Tom
Do u have the installation guide or video ?
Thanks Tom for the information. I run antifoams on both of my TRX4 trucks and my SCX6.
Awesome, we appreciate your support.
Are these a good crawler! Im reading mixxed reviews and some blatant bs about the scx6
Merci pour votre vidéo, comment les acheter en France?
Wow, amazing! I just picked up the honcho. What did you do for the ESC?
What are the rods made of?
Food grade silicone.
What do you recommend for 10 pound vehicle that is mostly overlander & light rock crawling 2.2 proline xl super swampers
howdy, i just dropped a 1280kv blackjacket into my scx6 with a monster x 8s esc but immediately got motor over temp warnings..turns out its logging 308 Celsius. Is this a problem with my blackjacket or do they just not read motor temps. cheers
Yes, they do not read the temps right. So I would suggest not using the temp for the motor.
I noticed that you guys “recommend” castle esc’s for your motors. Can I use a HW sensored esc with the motor? All I use are HW esc’s.
That's a cool shirt you're wearing
Finally putting mine in this week. :)
your rc is very fast, is it still a standard engine, sir?
I’d love a comparison from the 3-D printed foams to original duel stage foams that I’ve been using for years from crawler innovations
same thing really, except the foam is cheaper. Youcan also use these in water
@@stokedGSXR I hear they are not the same though. I hear the 3-D printed foams bounce a little bit.
Way too expensive. Hard pass.
