How balloons and acoustic guitar finishing go hand in hand.

Use a balloon to block acoustic guitar sound hole when spraying finish. Just blow it up and tie it in a knot and you’re good to go.

Finishing guitar in polyester over acrylic paint. This guitar was painted by one of my customers and they wanted to preserve the artwork that their daughter had done. In this video I will show you some of the process I used to get this job done. #guitarrepair #guitarfinish #howto #electricguitars

tasty playing & great sound
You're like a guitar chiropractor at one part! Amazing video, very well shot and every move was well explained
What color? Gold metalic or yellow gold?
This is crescent gold metallic, the same stuff gibson used on the old gold tops.
Beautiful guitar. Love the bearclaw spruce.
I’ve checked the grounding and pretty much everything in my guitar.. going to try this again, why is my new guitar giving me noise?? If i touch metal parts it gets much better
Why not play fingerstyle on a guitar mainly meant for fingerstyle?
was.... the pedal designer in the room at the time of the demo? 😳
Thank you very much!
Why hang the bass so low it’s not even completely in the picture? Anyway, you seemed to have fun and that’s great.
Dude, thanks. Problem fixed in under a minute. Gratitude from Oz 🤟
WHY IS THE PICK GUARD MISSING LOOKS STUPID WITH OUT AND STOP WITH THE FINGER PICKING ITS NOT A CLASSICAL GUITAR YOU GUYS WITH THE FINGER PICKING
if my middle pickup is bad, can it be repaired?I have an older fender from back in the day and I really like how the aged looks on the pickupshell if that makes sense
Hey I have a 1968 Hummingbird exactly like this one. Inlays finish tuners split back. Wow. Everything. Great tone too. Nice to see it.
Great playing. What amp and effects were used?
What about those bridge pins, are you removing them before the glue sets completly?
Very well done man, keep up the amazing content ❤
Thank you! Some more posting soon
Great video in all respects. But lord gawdy does Martin not have any QC people?
Hi. Is this safe? Can i ruin the neck? How much to unscrew? Thnx
Yes very safe, and very common adjustment with bolt on type electric guitars. Just back the screws off slightly.... not to much you want a bit of resistance, that way after you make the alignment better, the neck holds it's place where it should, and isn't moving around while you tighten it back up to where it should be. Also there is only so much wiggle room in the neck pocket, so of course dont try to force it too much if the neck is already fully against the side of the pocket.
Sheeesh man this is a beauty of a guitar ❤️🥹
Hey cool daddy! After watching this video around thirty times plus some I'm sure, I finally got my Epiphone masterbuilt TEXAN to strum clean with zero if not minimal string buzz after many weeks of study and efforts. No shim, no saddle adjustment, just a bit of truss rod calibration. This Epiphone masterbuilt TEXAN axe is so much cleaner and pure toned after I used your techniques and tried and true luthier secrets, that I am doubly amazed by my ham handed fumbling after seeing you work YOUR CRAFT and the clear positive results I experienced from following your LEAD. . Thank you so much. Love ya, mean it.
Genius!!
I don't get it why
So you don’t get lacquer or what ever finish you’re spraying inside the guitar.
@@JamesHoodGuitar don't you do all that finish first then you assemble them together
Very good playing in a very strange and interesting guitar.
Yeah, I nearly skipped this video and I'm very glad I didn't. Your video grabbed me from the beginning and held me there till the end. Fantastic job, fantastic narration, for such a young guy, you'll impress me Incredibly, thank you very much.
It is an output jack, not an input jack.
My neck pickup isnt working......but i get a really high reading. What would that mean?
top
Instant fix as soon as I did it the buzz went away.
I got 1920s kalamazo. About to st nwck but im worries about fretboard.
Who still has this guitar do any of you? And is it brown? You must be from America
That thing sounds amazing
i think it sounds great with flats
Hello, great video. I have an old Kay parlor guitar. The bridge was bolted down on top of the guitar's finish with no glue. It has lifted up and I have removed the bridge. I want to glue it down and re-bolt it. Is there a glue that will bond the wood bridge to the guitar's glossy finish, or should I remove the finish (fairly thick)? thanks for your help.
Your speech mannerisms kind of remind me of Garth. Party on.
What brand and gauge are they?
Wow blast from the past. Thats my signature in the pedal. I was one of the two people who founded Wattson. Cool video!
I am no Luthier but spent twenty years in a custom cabinet shop and have glued up thousands of board feet of lumber for panels and such. I see many videos of this repair on CZcams and most everyone goes really heavy on the glue. Squeeze out is what you want but too much glue is as bad as not enough. Is there something I am missing when it come to this kind of glue up?
Beautiful
Thank you for starting at the beginning. As in the proper setting for the ohm meter (20k). Too often that critical information is passed over during similar demonstrations. Glad to have landed here. Very helpful.
Brand new Martin !? What happened to it to cause neck twist and severe back bow
back bow is normal, air pressure and climate changes, humidity combined with fluctuating string tension all will cause neck movement. neck twist is not normal.
Martin quality... twisted neck 🤨
It's not Martin, it's 50s technologies in the guitar building. A carbon fiber or aluminium neck wouldn't have been twisted.
As of today I joined the Hamer family after pulling the trigger on a '92 Special and I couldn't be happier. My first Hamer but definitely not my last. Is this wonderful specimen still available?
Hey congrats on the new Hamer, they are absolutely great guitars!! We do still have this one looking for a good home reverb.com/item/33783747-hamer-eclipse-1997-cherry-mahogany
Y'all do realize Buddy Holly used flats that's what vintage guitars came with back then Personally I've always loved flatwound strings more than roundwound strings I use my own custom set up to make myself I use labella's 9 gauge jazz flats then I take a wound g from another labella pack then for the two high strings I use 8s to bend easily I use em on my homemade electric guitar that me grandpa built from scratch
I doubt that. Do you have any evidence?
Great guitar
Amazing, this resolved it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maaaan that thing sounds real nice 🤪💫👀
Was the saddle glued in?
Are you against titebond 3 on this application?
That was great! And the dog too! :-)
I'm pretty sure original Strats from the 50's CAME with flatwounds....
I've heard that, but also the opposite: that the standard Fender strings were called "Rock n roll", which were roundwound 10-38. Now these are known as the "Hendrix" set, but they were around before him.
@@joeltunnah Slinky strings only showed up in 1970 if I remember right. Before then there were only Black Diamond Strings and they were 13-14 gauge strings. I personally strummed Jimi's white Strat in '68, they were 9's or even 8's. I don't know where he got his strings from, unless like the British they used banjo strings for light gauges.
@SDPickups even 1950s Fender catalogs make a distinction between their "Mastersound" flatwound and "pure nickel" strings, which I assume are roundwound. Unfortunately none of the early catalogs list string guages... but roundwounds on electric guitars was definitely a thing even in the mid 1950s.
@@joeltunnah All I know is that in '67 when I'd go get electric guitar strings, they only had Black Diamond brand that were very thick gauges. A few guys like Michael Bloomfield managed to bend those strings, but nobody could play his guitar but him. Guys would try out his guitar and couldn't play it because of the Black Diamonds. They were around 13-14 gauges. We didn't know anything about string gauges then, we just bought whatever they had. I think '70 is when slinky strings came along and they were 8 gauge. OMG it was so amazing to be able to BEND the strings and not have your guitar neck badly bowed that made it even harder to play.
