Seize The World - One Year On The Road: ASIA
Seize The World has now been on the road for a year! 10000 miles through 19 countries.
Seize The World foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity established in 2008. Its purpose is to raise awareness, build community by sharing stories, and raise funds for epilepsy research.
To stimulate awareness and generate enthusiasm, Seize The Worlds executive director, Stephen Allen, is bicycling around the world to dramatically demonstrate that people with epilepsy can realize their dreams. In sharing his experience and asking others to share theirs, Stephen hopes to build and bring together a diverse community to spread ideas for living life fully and to encourage those with epilepsy to not accept limits. The Seize The World website is a virtual community that will grow in size and strength through your stories. Just like Stephen, many others with epilepsy, their families, friends, and doctors can describe how living with epilepsy does not prevent us from pursuing our dreams. Choose to seize every opportunity!
Epileptic seizures range in severity and frequency. Millions of people throughout the world have frequent and very serious, life threatening seizures. Stephen Allen suffers seizures less often than many others do although his seizures are becoming more frequent as he gets older. There are research breakthroughs every day and each one leads to new discoveries about epilepsy. We know that epilepsy research will eventually lead to a cure. At present, epilepsy research is focused on finding ways to calm down electrical disturbances in the brain that trigger epileptic seizures.

Super whack setup dude; low end crappy components, only a rear rack with all your gear/weight on it, whack uncomfortable riser bars. Come on dude, you are not going to make it around the world with this setup, or if you do you are going to be miserable and have many breakdowns. Get your shit/ gear together before you do a round the world bike tour and show off your bike setup on CZcams. Your definitely not impressing any that knows anything about quality bikes and legit bike setups.

My name is, Zachariah. I have severe Grandmal epilepitic seizures, and being able to see that other individuals are actually be active and showing their communities and those abroad that we can still be active. It just takes a little bit more preperation when it comes to the medical side of things. But, it can be just as exciting to be a part of in the end. I hope to take part in in a tour such as this when I get my recumbent tadpole trike replaced.

Some people complain of heel clearance issue on cross check with panniers. Do you have heel clearance problem? What rear rack are you using on your cross-check?

Great video, and yes great cause. Especially since I myself have epilepsy. I hope to do a tour for similar reasons. But, more to prove to myself that even with all the challenges that I have that I can still do it.

Hey, just posting first comment in replies here...I was working at a bike shop when I purchased this bike, and I did not pay much for original parts--maybe $600?...BUT---I ended up breaking and then replacing a lot of stuff--the original setup was far too light for the task--much lighter than what's shown in video--Once I had XT hubs / 36h wheels, Schwalbe tires, MTB handlebars / shifters, Ergon grips and Ortlieb front bags...and replaced the drivetrain once or twice b/x of miles...$1500-$2000?
