I am absolutely in love with this performance and this arrangement. Please produce more of these!!!
So lovely and romantic
Not bad at all. Very nice arrangement, and great intonation from the choirs.

I'd love to know the name of the reel after The maid in the cherry tree.....Thanks.
on vient de me dire que c'est "BOIL THE BREAKFAST EARLY "
Beautiful ❤
What a tremendous pairing. Fergal is one of my favourite fiddle players, especially when he ad libs on tunes and changes them as he progresses through them. Not entirely a traditional approach but I really love his approach to the music and making to sound very fresh and vibrant.
I hate piano accompaniment for Traditional Irish music but even more when the accompanist doesn't know the tunes or associated keys and chords
Considering Ryan Molloy's first instrument was fiddle and he was a student of Brid Harper, I'm pretty sure he knows the tunes, although I can understand why his accompaniment style might not be for purists.
As an Irishman and a lifetime musician I think I understand your first eight words, though 'hate' is too strong a word, and the overall sentiment is puerile. Your critique of the accompanist, on the other hand, is just misinformed and dead wrong!
I think you'd be better off taking those cloth ears back to the shop and exchanging them for real ones. Do you really think a player of Mícheál's calibre would collaborate with someone who didn't know the appropriate chords or tunes? Ryan is a top, top musician.
Piano accompaniment by Ryan Molloy is a true discovery, and I really love it. The harmonies and counter-melodies he finds are not always the most obvious one would use at first try, that is precisely what makes his style priceless. Piano in irish music has its own history yet to be told (let me mention Charlie Lennon, Micheal O Suilleabhain, Brid Cranitch, and also Violet Tulloch further north-east in the Shetlands), and certainly a bright future.
"38:01" Lovely !
Spellbinding!
I’m a huge fan of Micheal’ playing but should also note that Ryan’ piano playing is so tasteful, it hepls concertina to paint the picture perfectly
Heavenly 🙏
This is an excellent performance
Is she playing through an effects pedal, or does " fixed medium " mean a " backing track " ?
Yes, you can think of it as a 'backing track'. It is created from transformations of sounds from the concertina.
@@MusicAtMaynooth Thanks for that ! I thought it was derived from the concertina, hence the question. I feel certain that this could be done " live " with a fancy foot pedal or laptop ( or phone ! ) , and we can't see her feet, so it's a bit mysterious. I feel bad that I didn't mention how far out it is, regardless of the way it was done - a refreshing change from the usual ********************************
That concert is so big just for playing in a small room, the people that watched it in live had a very good luck.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Masterpiece!
Beautiful!🎄 This 60 year old Chamber Choir geek approves!!👏👏👏👏
_Class act...Mícheál & Noel Hill....My favourite concertina players in all the world. Ceol mo chroí. Go hiontach ar fad_
Wait........what????? I'm crying now? *Dalek voice* explain! Explain !!!
I'm falling in love with Micheál's playing all over again! Does anyone know the second tune he plays at the baritone starting at 34:41?
Furnill’s Frolic, it’s from the Joyce Collection. Peter Carberry and Padraig McGovern recorded that set on their ‘Forgotten Gems’ album.
Wow! What a gorgeous video! 😃 so beautifully put together and such a magical sound! 😃 makes me feel very proud having come from studying at the beautiful Maynooth University 😃 Well done all! 😃 twas magic performance! 😃
Who is the maker of the concertina he is playing?
I believe he plays Suttner concertina on this one
Very impressive cormuin, congrat, hope all is well with you
Thanks, Kieran! All good and hope you are a well also. Living in Navan these days. Not far from your neck of the woods.

Farewell to Connaught
Both such great tunes!
Thank you so much Martin for playing a whole recital dedicated to Schumann a truly great composer. Beautiful music not heard often enough, but to be treated to a whole recital is great. What a beautiful lyrical soul we have in Martin, makes the piano sound so beautiful bringing out the lovely lyricism of Schumann. Many thanks and hopefully I will get to hear you play live soon. I enjoyed the performance very much.
I enjoyed it so much. Lovely rhythm.
Absolutely beautiful Fergal and Ryan. Different but wonderful. I enjoyed every minute of the concert. Lovely rhythm, and not driven as is common today. Fantastic piano accompaniment, really thinking outside the box lads and it worked. Well done. Looking forward to hearing you live some day.
Super singing Megan 👍
