I'm 62 and I still get into back country. I'm right up the highway in Cody so I like to hang around northwest of town. My choice of bear spray is 12ga slugs or .44 Mag instead of that canned pepper that bears seem to enjoy with a warm meal.

You don’t have true horsemanship without the original cowboy. You have bad and abusive trainers in ALL facets of the horse world. So don’t just point out the cowboy because they are probably the closest you can get to a horse in human form.

Horses have frontal lobes tho, it is just small. All mammals have frontal lobes, it just varies in size. Lots of what a horse is capable of would not be possible without that frontal lobe, even tho it is small.

Improper observation at improper activity being that they said i got payday at ration supply pickup in auxi repair. Like im repairing what repairs things bronco condition. I’m 72 years old and I grew up in the 1950s in New Orleans in a housing projects. We were a family of mom and six kids. Mom was on welfare and she got 135.00 dollars a month. I couldn’t hardly afford a horse but I loved watching the Saturday morning shows with Roy Roger’s, Gene Autry and Hopalong Cassidy only to see the horses. I read every book I could find about cowboys and cattle drives and ranching and everything else that was cowboys. I was a Marine for 30 years and I never lost my desire to be a cowboy. It’s 2024 and I get pleasure from watching videos about cowboys. And I don’t mean the Hollywood cowboys. I admire the working cowboys. You good people are blessed to live that lifestyle.👍🙏

OK, so when I first read the title I thought you were off your rocker! But... I can't disagree with your logic. Personally, I couldn't handle one. I'm in my late 50's and got involved with cutting because I just love the sport. With that being said, if I got the chance to ride Metallic Cat I'd do it in a heartbeat, aaaamnnnndddd I'd probably promptly fall right off having not had the experience of riding such an agile and athletic horse before. But like you mentioned, Ferrari's! Who wouldn't want to drive one, at least once in your life?!

Hessel offspring can be difficult horses sometimes, but when you know how to handle them they are the best! We own and breed friesians here in the Netherlands. We once had a hessel as well. Started as a very nice but difficult horse but ended up to be one of the best We ever had. Very curious how this one turns out😁

Great video, I really enjoy all of your videos. Thank you. My two horses are a Sorrel and a Bay, never planned it that way, it was just the two horses that came my way that had the things I was looking for. The Sorrel is a mare quarter horse that I got when she was just one year old, picked her up for $1, I do cow work on her, and endurance riding and trail riding. I had her is the saddle as a two year old, and working cows and doing 40 mile endurance racing by the time she was 4, . Has never gone lame. Best $1 I ever spent. The other a 9 year old gelding Bay OTTB, spent a little more on him, but I also got him cheap as he was not working out for the previous owner. He really just needed some attention, a lot of exercise, and an firm handler, he is a good match for me.

If you want a horse to last, maybe give them another year or so before you ride them hard like ranch boys do. They will last longer if their knees can close and spine develope before then.

The buying babies or breeding babies route is the only way I can afford the breeding I want in horses anymore. I can't afford to drop the 25K - 100K that the horses I have now would cost me in today's market if I were to buy them. A good friend who bred AQHA reigned cow horse competitors for nearly 40 years before he retired told me: "Good horses aren't cheap and cheap horses aren't good". So I either have to pay a hefty price for a colt but still a price that I can afford or I have to breed them myself because right now the days are gone where you could go to an auction and pick up an 8 - 10 year old fully trained AQHA gelding for 6K. Now days that same horse can run you anywhere from 50K - 100K but you can get a colt of that breeding for 6K every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
