DSC off does not shut off traction control.. it shuts off stability control which will cut throttle. You have traction control all the time and you can't shut it off. That's why when you get wheel spin traction control grabs and corrects it it's meant specifically for off-road. So yeah on a Land Rover there's no way to shut off traction control unless you pull the ABS fuse or something stupid and then you would sit and spin forever and traction control wouldn't grab. Same with my lr3 and my Discovery Series 2 you don't turn off traction control you want it it's not made for the road it's made for off-road especially a situation like that. Sand you want less of it but that situation you specifically want it. Also if he would have stayed in the throttle with no settings just low range DSC turned off it would have made it. But you don't want to put DSC on because anytime it starts to spend too much it cuts throttle doesn't just use the brakes the traction control uses the brakes the DSC literally cuts the throttle off. I think Rock crawl and sand do not have it if you put it in them the DSC shuts off on its own but yeah you never purposely put the DSC on unless maybe you're letting your wife drive down an icy Road. When you own it for longer you'll understand it better or maybe you won't some people never do lol they just think they know and then they stick with incorrect thoughts the whole time they own it
Yeah I did the same thing but you definitely lose some of the ride quality because it's under higher psi. Much stiffer on the road and off-road you lose articulation that it used to have in off-road mode. I'm actually going to add the sya kit with the spacers because with that and the rods they counteract each other so you basically get a 2.5 lift but then the airbags are back down to factory air pressure in each mode so you're literally lifted but having the soft Factory ride on and off-road with better articulation
Don’t really think that is a test of “weight” (9min 30s). It is more a test of tyres and independent suspension. Also running in the highest ride height makes the air springs stiffer and thus the bouncing. A downside of just doing a rod lift. Take a look at the SYA kit to solve running the air bags fully inflated for off road use.
Yep you're absolutely right! And he said turning off DSC is turning off traction control but that's not right it's cutting off stability control which is definitely a good thing to do
Did you air down before you tested? Did you set the transfer case to Lo? Seems like your test would've been more smoother and not take three attempts if you aired-down and dropped to Lo gearing.
Awesome little video on the lift rod and after effects. I've got a 2010 land rover lr4 hse 5.0 with 133,000 miles. I absolutely love it. Just took it to my buddies body shop to pop a dent out and refinish the front bumper and the hood and fix all the other paint chips and scratches and take the Windshield cowl off and refinish it in black. I've got the rhino lift rods on the way and can't wait to get them on and see the same difference in ride height as you and others have got. Then, I will order the 275/65r18 tires and order 1 inch spacers to bring the wheels/tires out a bit. I saw the guy on LOST CAUSE RANCH do that to his lr4, so I love the look. I doubt I will be going off road with it,I just love the off-road look, so I'm really not wanting the rover steelies, but i don't know if I can get good looking offroad wheels to fit the 5X120 mm lug pattern. I hope so, and i hope they don't cost too much,I'm trying to low-budget the look if possible. And you're right about the 2 1/2 inch lift system for it being so easy with the lift rods and easy install. I believe rover owners are envied very much by all other truck and SUV and jeep owners who fork out big $$ for their lifts kits. I waited to long to get the lift rods. I paid $84 on ebay and I'm thinking they were atleast half that price 5 yrs ago when I bought this LAND ROVER . But what isn't double or triple the price in today's world. Well I wonder if you still have your land rover or if it blew up. I think you did this video a yr or so ago.
Will the 03-04 discovery HSE 18" split spoke five star rims bolt up to a 16 a LR4 HSE?
K…..
awesome body 👍🏼👍🏼
terrible driver, sheesh
We need more on this!
Really considering getting a LR3 over a 2013 GX460.
Too many features for the LR3 yet struggling to go up… however, the old 4R with no cheeky features just a bit of a push and just went up there even for an inexperienced off roader. Kudos Toyota!
No it didn’t. The front didn’t go up and it span the wheels. It needed the same “bump” to get up. The LR3 went from a standstill and got the front wheels up. The Toyota made the climb on the rear wheels well, but that could largely have been tyres. But more likely because the front wheels had better purchase.
LR3 will outperform the 4 runner on the trail
with an adequate driver, absolutely
Do a coilover conversion
Do ah coil over conversion
Nice vid, both great trucks in their own class, i own a LR3, it's not without quirks i tell you, but it's a tank after you learn the feathering of the throttle to work together with the terrain response system, the computer will sort out the rest. Been crawling and climbing from Kentucky mud and through west Texas rocky desert terrain and what have you, sand is still tricky for me but the rest what this tank does is keeping me amazed! Hope to see more from this machine you're running😎🎥
Only downside i could see would be cv axles at more of an angle constantly. Had any trouble with those yet?
Exactly. I was going to do mine but was thinking 🤔 it definitely doesn’t lowers automatically to help with wind resistance 😂
Ended up being a t fitting in the coolant system. We were able to repair it with the casing of a tire gauge and some river water.
Do you still have this LR3? Any updates?
Those Defender wheel just look so cool and they are actually tough since they are made of steel!
Hi friend this original suspension for Lr3 , it looks great
So what happened?
MORE LR3/4 vids Please ~
Did you now that the compressor of lr3 is gone? Am seriously convinced that you need to buy new one. I have the same car and when is start to pump for all this time with the same sound the compressor it's gone...
Which dealer did you buy these wheels from?
Great video and exactly what I was looking for. If there is ever a chance you can share the dealership that had the wheel deal, I would certainly be interested hearing it. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work.
Very cool
Where’s this dealership the wheels came from?!
What dealer had these wheels?
Any leads on getting those steel stock wheels deal??
It's called Terrain Response. Not Multi-terrain select.
Yep and when you turn off DSC like he did you're not turning off traction control like he said LOL you turn off stability control you want traction control
That's an amazing deal, my purchase was no joke and the air suspension crapping out was so fun, please buy me a set of those steel rims!!!! I will drive to Dallas, I guarantee the dealer near me would laugh in my face if I asked for a rim for $25 hahahaha
I got mine for 1500.00 too. Check my channel for all my mods
Will do!
LR3 is a Garbage. I choose 4Runner.
We beg to differ
Pfffft.
I disagree... LR3 needs the driver to learn it first...😅
Got my for 1500 also 3 days ago I just decided to get a truck to go off-road and the thing pop up
Good purchase!
Tip on these land rover LR3 and LR4 on a technical trail or obstacles, hold/feather and modulate the throttle and let the tire slip this will allow the traction control see the slipping wheel and apply brake to it, the more it slips the more brake pressure it applies on that slipping wheel and it'll send power to the wheels with traction. When you let off the throttle while the tire is slipping and traction control is trying to find traction it resets the cycle and starts all over again. Most off roaders think slipping means it a no go, but not for a Land Rover LR3/LR4 with terrain response, its magic seeing it finding the wheel with traction and powers crawl thru a technical trail!
Thankyou!
Thats the observation I made that the driver is letting off throttle and that confuses the system which only kicks in few seconds after sensing the wheels that are slipping
This guy doesn't really understand the lr3 talking about DSC turning off traction control 😂 traction control is always available. DSC shuts off stability which is good to shut off because it cuts power traction control doesn't cut power it transfers power with brakes
Great to see the LR3/Disco3 in action! Cool video, hope to see more LR3 :)
Don’t worry, we will have a lot more Disco3 content in the coming months!
I want a set of those wheels. Didn't know that they were giving them away. Maybe just in TX.
It was pure luck of the draw. These are my favorite wheels for the LR3. If they ever come up again we will post it out.
I really like the steel wheels, and what a great deal!
That’s probably our favorite part as well!
Great video! How did you get the tires for $150? The wheel price was in the video, but you didn't mention where you found the tires.
Pure luck on FB market place. They are used but have about a half life left on them.
On previous video the sunroof wasn't working you might want to try with key on accessory/second position, press and hold the close button for 20 seconds to recalibrate. It will cycle thru all positions, you have to do every time battery has been disconnected
Absolutely correct, shortly after filming this we discovered that reset. Works like a charm. Thanks for recommending that.
😂😂😂 ffs that’s all I had to do?
This worked thanks
Wow, great value for the $$!
I have a 2007 XS (with the TDV6 diesel) and I got my dashmat from Aliexpress for 15 USD lol. But yours is worse than mine! Other than that, amazing looking SE guys! Hope you'll have a lot of fun with it :)
Oh man, we tried 3 different dash mats, and this one fit the best, and its still not great. Thanks for the pointer!
#35 - Better get a follow back hahahah Keep it up guys
Woohoo! You know we will!
Nice Man. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
