Mysteries and Scandals - Groucho Marx (2001)
I remember Erin in Woody Allen's movie Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask. I'm sure Groucho got her the role. I think she eventually committed suicide
My favorite comedy team meets my favorite poet.
You can she evil Erin was
Poor, Groucho.💔😢
Those opening impressions were amazing.
I could listen to Steve for hours.
I wish Steve Stoliar were better at being a historian instead of trying to make himself into a celebrity. I used to like interviews with him but I've heard pretty much everything he has to say and the stories are often interesting but he personally isn't, and he wants to be entertaining when he's not. Following him on Twitter was a mistake, he's just kind of stuck in his own little mental circle where he's 'famous' for having known Groucho Marx for a few years. He's not a great representative for a lot of his own work.
Those of you who miss this program on E!, raise your hand.
Kids better not let some broad come in and take over, smmfh
Still adore Julius ❤❤
Alan Alda in M*A*S*H mimicked Groucho Marx in many episodes. The little skit, Yankee Doodle Doctor, is one time. Hawkeye was Groucho, and Trapper was Harpo.
0:04 "acid-tongued"? I never heard him say a hurtful or mean-spirited word, he was just a horny doofus.
Watch You Bet Your Life
Listened to this again today. Absolute gold top to bottom (no coffee table jokes, please). My sorrow is that now Gilbert has left us before the completion of the filming of Raised Eyebrows. His insane humour will forever live on. My best wishes to Steve!
Groucho was always my favorite
I just can’t help but love him
“Hurray for Captain Spaulding!” A true classic!
The african explorer?
Irving Thalburg was married to Norma Shearer. They were a very happy couple.
Ring0!,,
These were not supposed to be the problems of Groucho Marx There not trobles that he intentionally created out of stupidity
Well he chose to marry a woman young enough to be his daughter. So yes, this was caused by stupidity. He knew she wasn't marrying him for love.
Hail, hail Fredonia!
Ajs naration
the son looks like and sounds like his dadio
In the words of Bill Burr: "THERE'S AN EPIDEMIC OF GOLD DIGGING WHORES!"
He didn't have to marry her. Gold diggers only capture men who delude themselves.
Groucho was brilliant. He was a tad mean. A little sexiest. But You Bet Your Life was a great show. Timeless. You can’t blame Erin for wanting a little cash for her efforts. She made him happy in the end. Sure she had a hissy fit or two. What woman doesn’t? Groucho knew that. It’s the circle of life.
She was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia shortly after Groucho passed away. She didn't just throw "hissy fits." She was downright abusive, physically and mentally, to a dying old man. She was certifiably insane, and ended up homeless and in and out of mental institutions before she ultimately killed herself.
Erin was a SNAKE! She was abusive and only out for herself. I saw it myself.
Ah, takes me back to the good ol' days! These days? Meh... 🤔
The honorary Oscar given to Groucho happened in 1974, not 1973.
"Hey so we're shooting this show about the Marx Brothers but we don't know how to tell the story...I know! Let's stand in the middle of some completely unrelated city and get shots of cars passing by. Yeah, that'll really get the audience going.Great idea Benza!"
Earlier told I saw an Erin Fleming on an episode of Adam 12. Driving a pumpkin down the street
The reason Groucho chose Gus the cat for this was because though he and Eliot would go at it, they achieved a true bond of friendship when they found out each other loved cats.
About Groucho Marx... One of the great personalities of the 20th century... And they can't edit in video clips of his various appearances!!
Poor, Groucho.💔😢🥀
I Have Mr Kanfers Book.Very Interesting And Entertaining Read!!
Laughing!? Kinda' hits me as "mean"? Did it to get laughs....🤨😒😏 So sad they never really listened & got the meaning😒of this beautiful song.
I was at festival. Saw part of this panel.
Very good interviews and recording. Thank you
Thank you for uploading 😊
Thanks for sharing this marvelous video!
WHY DON'T YOU TRY MINDING YOUR OWN LIFE, SHITHEAD
They're still a hipper room in the UK than we'll ever be here in the US.
So was his death foul play or not?
Not at all. Natural causes (pneumonia after a protracted downward spiral of health problems).
@@rialtos1 ok thanks for the answer
Rest In Peace Richard Belzer
And Judy Tenuta!!!
Hilarious
Groucho could of used a better agent.. Gummo sucked
Had Gummo remained in show business as a performer with his brother, he would've perfected his act as an operatic tap dancer.
Stolier is a god
Thanks, but I'm an agnostic bordering on the atheistic, so I guess that means I have a hard time believing in myself.
Yeah, when I want to know something I listen to AJ Melodramatic Benza.
Grady Sutton - Starred With 🚾 Fields
2:20 who has a Dick Cavett? Haha love it
Louis B Mayer also hated Buster Keaton and went out of his way to destroy his career just like Groucho.
Had Louis B. Mayer been more respectful to comedians like Buster Keaton and the Marx Brothers and gave them better movies, that would've been astonishing.
MGM was the worst studio for comedians
@@billyshepard5514 If it isn't, it would've been heaven for comedians.
Groucho Marx:"I didn't like Louis B Mayer. I avoided him."
Groucho Marx: "We probably wouldn't have done Night in Casablanca if Chico hadn't needed money. Money flowed through his fingers. I don't recall having a cross word with Harpo, but with Chico I fought constantly. I've always had a mixture of envy and exasperation with Chico. Envy at his devil may care attitude but exasperation at his refusal to think about tomorrow." (One time Chico got himself in serious trouble with the mob over gambling debts and didn't show up for a performance, which throughly pissed off Groucho)
When I lived in LA in the 1990s I remember seeing Erin Fleming who was then a homeless bag lady on Santa Monica Blvd. What I remember is she was prettier than most homeless people. I later read Raised Eyebrows with the date and place and I figured it out who it was.
According to Dick Cavett, she ended up committing suicide.
@@alonenjersey yes I read she shot herself
@@billyshepard5514 So most likely she was buried with others in a local "Potters' Field."
sad
@@alonenjersey she was living in an institution when she died, and her family claimed her body. Her ashes are buried in the town she was born in, which is in Canada. Her tombstone reads "Hello I Must Be Going." It also calls her "The Companion of Groucho Marx."
Charlotte Chandlers wig looked like she was wearing it backwards. Good Lord.
