As one of your patrons said below Steve Goodman (RIP) wrote this song but popularized by Arlo! Love your rendition.

Hi Mike Thanks a lot for this song Is it possible for you to teach us "deportees" by woody Guthrie? Denis from France
Thanks Denis. I haven’t heard the song, but will definitely check it out. Thanks for watching!
This is easier to play than the way I've been doing it. My main thing is to get the folks engaged, singing. Now all I have to do is make sure I know what note for me to start singing. This sounds great on my Kevin Kopp Trail Boss (his version of a 12-fret torrefied Adirondack-Maple SJ 200). I could never find an SJ-200 with an easy to play neck. So Kevin made a great soft V for the guitar neck. Thanks, Mike.
Thanks Tex! I’m always looking for the easiest way to play a tune, so the mind doesn’t have to think about playing. Would love to,play a Kopp someday. I know you and Music Villa do business together 🤣

Very nice..Willie Nelson also song this song always ❤it. Thanks Mike
@@jimvalk7447 Thanks Jim! Yes, Willie and many others covered this classic.
No!! Steve Goodman wrote this song.
@@allanseidel5070 I mentioned this fact in the video. Though Goodman wrote the song, Arlo changed some of the chords to what, to my ear, sounds more pleasing. The version I am sharing here is more in line with the way Arlo Guthrie performed the song, which is why I used his name in my video title. I am sensitive to the fact that Goodman wrote the song, which is why I mentioned it fairly soon after the performance.
Are we using a digital tuner to change the tuning, would that be easiest way?
I use a digital tuner, Sparky. Simply lower the first and sixth strings from E to D. Then check the other strings to make sure they are still in tune. Hope this helps.
Arlo was one of my favorite musicians. I bought the Alice’s Restaurant dvd which was good and funny.

Those Alvarez Yairi FYM66HD's are pretty nice. I was looking at a DYM60HD dreadnaught, but the Martin D18 had cleaner notes. I have a Bourgeois Custom OM Large Sound Hole Adirondack-Walnut that this tune works on nicely. I recall playing this decades ago BUT never messed with the intro because of the guitar duo, and then it faded away for a time. Thanks for bringing it back. Maybe my flute friend can add a solo.
Thanks Tex! I’m pretty happy with this guitar. I need a flutist for this tune!
@campfire_guitar_lessons the lady from Choir that helps me on Sundays, is a music teacher, Air Force vet. She plays flute, violin, piano, and a lot more. She can really honky tonk the hymns and plays ragtime. She spends 1.5 hours at this MC and then goes to the hospital 'behavioral unit " and plays and Sings there for almost an hour. We are both volunteers. Her husband (another Air Force vet) plays an electric bass guitar on a band. She is very good at what she does, and I am glad she helps out.

Cool, good tune! Is that an Alvarez guitar ya got there? Jeez, I bought an Alvarez, dam, it’s been while back now, maybe 5 years ago, but it’s an electric acoustic and I only played it a couple times and I leaned up against my pool table and it slid sideways and it busted the G string tuning peg right off the bastard and I’ve never fixed it yet to this day! I can’t just put it back on either, it’s like the peg itself just fell apart or some shit. But I bought it cuz it plays and sounds so nice!
