The older I get the more Jimmy Stewart seems like a self centered actor. He hugged every scene he was in. He must have been difficult to act with.

Look to the kids. They deserve a future, and they could save ours.
This Taylor stuff reminds me of the ridiculous ads that some fool is trying to use as a way to get a "grassroots" campaign of people who want to impeach the first honest non-politician President who's tried to even put on waders and go into the swamp, let alone try to drain it (which, I'm sad to say, can never be done....Washington DC started out as a literal swamp, and some of the FF were a little alligatorish themselves or they wouldn't have purchased the people of Africa that the other tribes wanted to get rid of as cheap labor.) Greed clouds men's eyes, even while their ideals are noble.
Probably one of the best depictions of what the Swamp is and why it needs so badly to be drained.
This is one movie that NEEDS to be Updated! The title should be, "MR. TRUMP GOES TO WASHINGTON!"

Given that Taylor had a parade supporting Senator Smith shut down by the police and the parade against Smith not interfered with, it can be assumed that James Taylor had control over the police as well.

The film, as a whole, gets a little overwhelming and unbelieveable with how the BOy Rangers fought back in an age before CNN. But nevertheless, Jimmy Stewart deserved the Oscar instead of a very good Robert Donat ("Goodbye Mr. Chips". The other "star"of this film was Columbia art director Lionel Banks who built the best set (the Senate chamber) I've ever seen. Banks and Capra went on a scouting mission before filming began and Banks' sketches became classics before construction began at the Columbia lot.

So the US Congress has been corrupt since before the 1940s. That's good to know. Is it any surprise that people are not surprised to find out a politician is corrupt? Multiple generations have known that politics are broken and the only people who can fix it are politicians. What kind of broken system is that? This movie should have inspired congressmen to be better instead they all became worse.
I'm sure it inspired at least a few. Corruption & evil are as old as history itself though. That's just the way of the universe.

Okay, so it doesn't make sense. How do you like the way the kid blows the theme for a horse race instead of revellie? How about My Darling Clementine playing in the background as the newsboys fight the gangsters after their paper has been out for one hour? How did they organize that parade for Jeff in one day? Even banners. How did the opposition get sound trucks with writing on them in so little time? And then make a political rally? The lady that stands on the top of this dome that stands for liberty. Hey it really stands for justice. There's no place in this world for compromise with human liberties. And this is because he can't deliver a boys camp that the country would have to pay for anyway. This movie is such bullshit I promised myself I'd never force anyone to watch it. If the scandal were about covering up a murder, or something really important, it might lend itself out to this high drama. Give Jimmy a handkerchief...he's sweating. And how did he not take a piss in 24 hours?
