I bought the big sequoia 2 years ago, the tree was 20 years old but had stopped growing because the tree was growing in a big bucket and the roots didn’t have enough space. I planted the tree in my garden and the tree immediately started growing again! 🙂 in 2 years time the tree has grown from 163cm to 300cm!

All the small sequoias i bought two years ago, they were all between 5 and 10cm tall, and now most of them are around 50cm and the last tree in the video is already 100cm! 🙂🌲

I bought all the small sequoias online last year at ‘marktplaats.nl’ 🙂

I use the pipes around the big sequoia tree to give the tree water from below, last year was a dry summer here in The Netherlands and i tried to give the roots enough water with the pipes..

Yes, you are correct; the sequoias seem to like a lot of water! 🌲🙂

Hello, yes, i water them once or twice a week, in my experience the sequoia like a lot of water; i give the biggest sequoia between 20 and 30 liters each time i water them.

Do you also give them fertilizer? You can give them banana peels, coffee grounds, fish left overs etc. Best to compost this first...

Hi, i didn’t cover the trees in the winter i just left them as they are, only 1 of my little trees turned dark/grey, i thought it was dead, but now it’s becoming green again! 🙂🌲

@@paskali1975 That is good to hear! Maybe my dead looking trees have a chance. How cold do Winters get there and when did you start keeping them outside for Winters?

Hello, i placed a few posts around the little trees to avoid that anyone steps on the little trees. 🙂 ( and i placed the 3 pipes around the larger sequoia tree so i can give the tree water from below, because last year was a dry summer here in The Netherlands.)

@@kenneth31251 first i must say; i’m not a sequoia-expert..🙂. I just started growing sequoias last year; i bought a 20years old sequoia which has been standing in a big bucket for 20 years, i planted that tree in my garden but the spring&summer of 2022 were very dry here in the netherlands, i gave the tree lots of water, but nevertheless the tree started to turn very brown as you can see in my previous videos, my guess was that the bottom roots didn’t get enough water, so in put three pipes in the ground to water the tree from below, two times a week i added 25liters water, and luckily the tree truned green again!🙂🌲

@Sequoia Nederland That's awesome. Glad it worked out for you and smart way of saving it. I am growing some of my own. They're 1 year old right now. I have no clue when I will be able to replant them into the ground. Wondering if they're self sustainable once they're in the ground or if I have to do a lot of maintenence

@@kenneth31251 my experience until now is that the trees are very strong, i bought 28 little sequoias 9 months ago, and i planted them in the ground in september, and all trees are doing fine now! They don’t need very much maintenence i think, i just give them some water when i think they need some, that’s all..

Hi, the big tree was already 20 years old when i bought it, the tree had been standing in a big bucket for 20 years, i guess the tree stopped growing because the roots didn’t have any space left in the bucket. In May 2022 i planted the tree in the soil and immediately the tree started growing again, it growed 15centimeter in 5 months! 🙂. I hope the tree will grow at least 50 centimeter this year!

Hi, the trees you see in this video i did not germinate from seed, i bought them from somebody else when they were already between 5 and 10centimeter high. At the moment at my home i’m trying to germinate sequoias from seed, i just planted them this week in the ground, i will keep you updated on what the germination rate is going to be! ( its my first time that i try to germinate fom seed, so i am very curious what the results will be! )

Hi, you are right, these trees are sequoiadendron giganteums! ( i just started planting the trees last year, i’m not an sequoia-expert but fortunately all the trees are doing fine! 🙂🌲)

@@paskali1975 I wish you all the best. I currently live eight miles from Half Dome (in Yosemite National Park), but later this year I'm moving back to my house in Humboldt county with sempervirons. It has been my experience that if you have the right weather Redwoods will grow easily. I'm very happy to know that you are growing them, as the drought in California is threatening them and I'm quite emotionally invested in having these trees permanently survive. (I subscribed)

Thanks, i visited Yosemite National Park twenty years ago, and i really love the sequoias, and i also find it important that they permanently survive! 🙂🌲🌲🌲.

@@paskali1975 dat is een geweldige groei! dat gaat nu snel een heel imposante boom worden. alleen maar goed. wellicht dat de vele regenval dit verschil maakt.

Je hebt gelijk, die stronken moeten inderdaad nog verder afgezaagd worden, ga ik binnenkort effe een keertje doen als het wat beter weer is! 🙂
