This brings back memories of the Dr. Death podcast. It sucks that we have to do this, but as patients, we need to be SO careful about trusting doctors and nurses and surgeons. Always get a second and third opinion especially if it involves major procedures. The law should make it so these things should NEVER happen and on the rare occasion they do, the patient gets swift justice and the doctor is fired, fined, and in some cases jailed. The system should be tight and regulated enough so we don't have to be so vigilant but unfortunately it isn't.

The story kind of reminds me of my uncle I seriously think he’s crazy. he’s the exact same homeschooling my cousin who’s 10 as far as I know she’s probably never been to a doctor. She’s never been vaccinated completely vegan diet. I just want to say I’ve no problem with people being on a vegan diet when it’s something they choose for themselves. Last year at a family event I saw her and I just felt so sorry for her. She didn’t communicate with anyone. She just stayed by her parents side the whole time eyes on the floor, not making eye contact or initiating with anyone. Her parents have her so socially isolated that she doesn’t have any friends and it just makes me incredibly sad.

I don’t get it like I can understand him wanting to seek alternative treatments if it’s like a stage one or two and it’s not as urgent but it’s stage three I feel like alternative method are going to do little to nothing and then by the time they realize that it would’ve been too late anyway. On the other hand, I feel like even if the doctor said did nothing and they had him gone to alternative treatments. She would’ve just died sooner and then the mom would’ve blamed the system for that too lol

If anyone of us unlicensed plebs has done this for a friend, even with 100% success, the law would be there to punish it, had it gone how it went down for poor Michael, it would be a national wide broadcast case with 25 to life and possible death sentence. Now, why does a piece of paper give such protection to a person that has absolutely murdered someone in the worst way possible? This is absolutely brutal! The level of malpractice is unbelievable! The worst is that Dr whatever, should immediately had Michael consult another neurosurgeon, who would do the same tests again, to make absolutely sure this condition and brain surgery was in fact needed. There are plenty of medications that must be tried prior to such a surgery. I'm shocked that the hospital approved such a dangerous procedure without a second opinion especially knowing that the parents were in emotional distress, as any parent would be! He created a panic so that he could experiment on a boy. And in a hospital bed??? Ive had tiny tubes inserted in my ear drums due to fluid accumulation. Nothing to panic about but the procedure could not be carried out in a drs office, regardless of how minimal it was. I have a 40 yr old daughter and i cannot imagine what these parents must feel as a result of this "butchers" abuse of their emotional state and vulnerability. As parents, we want to do what is best for our kids lives which include absolute knowledge of risks and benefits. I really feel for them and i will not read comments here for fear of someone saying its their fault. Regardless of a second opinion, which is obviously recommended before any surgery. But telling parents its do or die puts them in a terrible position. I dont even want to think of the guilt, the pain, the confusion, the grief that they are going through. Its heartbreaking and i must say, the same as all surgeons jumping at the chance of chopping teenagers sexual organs who are too young to understand the ramification of surgeries they are told are irreversible when they absolutely are NOT

I've gotta side with the courts on this one honestly. It's very clear that the mother was influencing her opinions on the daughter and not taking the treatment seriously enough. When she's legally a minor, they have the power to try and do something, but once that's no longer the case, it's out of their hands. I don't think Cassandra was mature enough to make her own decisions, but once someone turns 18, maturity isn't taken into consideration anymore.

Hi Petal, Dr Christopher Duntsch would be an interesting topic to cover. He's a surgeon who was not qualified to do spinal surgery and left dozens of patients paralyzed. Would be an amazing video as you're very well spoken and do great research :)

My cousin was in a similar bike accident and she had to eat through a feeding tube for many months afterward because of the internal organ damage. It’s no joke!

You should look into Dr. Norman Barwin from Canada, he did the same thing and he is from my city, which is wild because the scandal happened around the time I was conceived. Had my parents decided to go to his clinic instead of the only other fertility lab within 300 miles I very well could’ve been one of his kids. I had classmates whose parents were patients of him and one of the children went to my high school. The victims recently got a huge payout recently, $10M CAD I think.

Considering how many kids he successfully fathered, how many unsuccessful tries on the mothers who eventually had babies, how many women may have never had babies, he "donated" hundreds of times at work. Very likely he had a peephole or 2 way mirror to the exam room to assist him in his endeavor. He most certainly looked forward to work on a daily basis.
