I’m so jealous of those subs, I am probably gonna upgrade my subs this Christmas, I can’t wait
What sub do you have now and what will you likely upgrade to?
A tip for measuring: please do not place the microphone on a cushion, as this distorts or absorbs too many frequencies. Please use a tripod... for example a foto tripod, they already have the right screw on top for mounting the mic. these are available at ama*on from €10. Incidentally, I have been a very, very satisfied user of Audyssey Evo since day one. This achieves the same sound fidelity as the expensive Trinnov preamps. Enjoy listening! Best wishes from the Austrian Alps, Simon
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. Will do. I’m really enjoying movies on my system. So clear and spacious sound.
@@KevisFilms Clear and spacious 👍🏼😃 I've never thought that my setup can sound that good!
After running the script, does it put the recommended crossovers into the created .ady file that you transfer/upload to the AVR, or do have to add them manually?
It will do it atomically :-)
Good video. I’ll try your method of measuring each position twice. Good idea 👍
Thank you for watching!
Is it ok to change my speaker crossover settings after applying the Rew Optimization update?
Yes. I changed the crossover for my rear top speakers. It still sounds great! What is the script telling you to set them at? What are you trying to set them to?
A1 EVO set them too: 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker C: 90Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker FL: 60Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker FR: 60Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker SLA: 90Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker SRA: 90Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker TFL: 80Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker TFR: 80Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker TRL: 90Hz 10:32:51 PM [INFORMATION] Speaker TRR: 90Hz My speakers are the following below. I was told they should be around 10-15hz more than what the specs start off with Klipsch CDT 3650 C* II- 63Hz-23KHz Klipsch RP-504 C** II - 50-25kHz Klipsch R-5502 W II - 46Hz-20KHz Klipsch R-5650 S II - 60Hz-23KHz Klipsch RP-1000 SW - 19Hz-131Hz
Take a look at your final frequency response in REW (after script finishes) and see where they (each speaker) starts to drop off as they cross over the subwoofer frequency.
@@KevisFilms They look a little off. I think its because I may have the Subwoofer Target settings wrong in REW for my Klipsch RP-1000 subwoofer type. What should these settings be set too? I went with the default as you indicated in your video and I think this need adjusting to match my sub specs of 19Hz-131Hz Target type: Subwoofer Bass management cutoff (HZ): 250 Bass management slope: 12db / oct LF Cutoff (Hz): 12 LF Slope: 24 db / oct
Hello. Great video and insight you have provided. This is my first time using REW and now A1 EVO. I'm using macOS. After I dropped all of my calibration files into REW, I get the following multiple messages: No Free Positions | There are no free positions for the "SLA#.txt" measurement, "C#" in tab # will be deleted if you continue. That measurement has NOT been saved. If you Cancel the measurement will be kept. Save It | Delete It | cancel (End of popup window message) Now I think this is because I skipped the last (3) Audessy measurements because my room is small. What option should I take here?
I’ve not come across this on my end. Let me see if I can dig into this and get back to you.
Disregard this one, I uploaded the wrong Audessy file. Uploaded the right one and all went well
Great!!
Another version of this video with just the steps without an explanation and whatnot would be great. U can just advise ppl to watch this one first to get context for everything that follows in the next video
I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.
Do you go back and make some small adjustments? Speaker level match. Also, do you change your crossover frequencies if set incorrectly? I have been seeing all the stuff OCA is doing it's all the updates that come out in such a short amount of time that has me wondering how good is this method.
I will adjust any speaker that the script tells me to crossover below the speaker’s capabilities (I changed my rear Atmos from 40hz to 80hz). Also, I may bump up my center channel a db or two. I believe he said that he is pretty much done and really could not improve the script any more than it is now. We shall see.
@@KevisFilms I will be trying it out this weekend and saving myself days on days trying to figure my calibration out. After A1 Evo have you measured your setup at reference 0db on your avr? I m just curious. I will do that just because I have to know.
I have not measured at 0 on my AVR. I might try as well. Let me know what you find out with measurements after you run the script. Good luck!
Great video , I tried A1 with my AV10 and compared against my Dirac live measurements and there are pretty close , I wish OCA done this before , I could have saved some money . Quick question with directional mode how many subs do you have ? Did you notice any difference with standard mode with regards to total bass output/overall how system sounded after running A1.
in my case I prefer the directional mode on my Denon 3800X I have 4 subs that are place in every for corner of my media room and compare it with standard bass the directional mode sound way better , bass is more punchy , voice are crisp and detail and the immersion of the surround is more vivid . The standard mode with Evo 1 scrip sound very good also but I prefer the sound more crystal with plenty of bass
I agree with @mauriciob8260 with the results. Also, I went back to REW and studied the frequency response of A1 and EVO and they were overall similar. EVO had better summation (not by much) around the 60-70 ish hz region which usually is a problem area (nulls) in my space. I used the latest EVO target curve which was also more aggressive in the low end than the Floyd Toole curve from A1.
@@mauriciob8260 I have four subs connected to my AV10 using minidsp 2x4 hd. I'm planning to get rid of minidsp and just connect my subs directly to my AV10 as it already has 4 independent sub outs but I'm not sure how A1 would time align them .
OCAs script calculates best delays for multiple subs and then converts back to Standard bass mode where all subs get same signal, which is best for bass response across multiple seats. The reason for measuring in Directional mode is to get the measurements for each sub so that they can be time aligned for best response as a combined unit. BTW time aligned doesn't mean that they are phase aligned at all - not for sub frequencies.
good video...thank you....just need some clarification about the mic positions....how many positions are you using since you are taking 2 measurements per location?
Thank you! I’m using 4 mic positions. Center main listening position, 10” to the right and left, and 10” in front of the main listening position. Let me know if this helps.
@@KevisFilms Hello , why just 4 position and not 8 position 🤔
@@mauriciob8260 that’s a great question! Being that I’m keeping my sampling bubble pretty small, I did not see a need to keep moving the mic. The frequency response from the positions that I use are very similar overall (reviewing in REW once extracted) Maybe at a later date I may try 8 different positions within my same bubble and compare.
@@mauriciob8260 A1 Evo is optimized for use the first 3 positions as far as i know. Middle of your head left ear and right ear, is where the mic must be placed for best results. I use A1 Evo v3 it sounds great indeed, with the use of Fir filters there are no phase shifts in the sound and the system sounds like high end headphones or electrostatic speakers.
Gladiator for me! Although I never saw it in the theater unfortunately. I was 14 at the time and didn't really go to the theater back then. I had it on DVD, then special edition with extended cut on DVD, the normal Blu-ray, the extended on Blu-ray and now on normal 4k. Love that movie! 🙂 Hoping it gets shown as a classic showing in the theater so I can get to experience it on a giant screen 🙂
I love Gladiator! Have you seen the trailer for the sequel?
@@KevisFilms I have! I'm not sold on it yet. A few things that don't look/feel great but hopefully its just the trailer and doesn't reflect the movie.
I just update my home theater media room form a 85 inches 4k tv to a 135 inches screen size and 4k laser projector , the immerse is amazing when watching movies 😍😍😍😍😍😍 in the sound department my system is Denon X3800H 7.4.4 Auro 3d set up and bass shakers
Sounds like you have a great set up! What projector did you end up going with? Thanks for watching!
@@KevisFilms Hi , my projector is the Dangbei Mars Pro 4k HDR
Great video. Agree with everything you said. Especially the popcorn smell, sense of smell is the most powerful sense, and really brings that theater nostalgia. I havee a popcorn machine, but for people who use the machine solely for decor who dont want to clean the machine (like me 😂) there are also movie popcorn scented yankee candles that you can try too.
Thank you! It’s definitely a painful to clean my popcorn machine, but my boys insist that I make popcorn 😂.
😂👍🏽

Very impressive you have come a LONG way great cinema I am jealous what's your favourite movie/movies
Thank you! Too many to name but I’ll try :-) The Dark Knight trilogy, The Usual Suspects, Speed, The Six Sense, Mystic River, and many more. How about you, what are your favorite movies?
Appreciate your advice a lot , many passionate movie lovers forget the basics, thanks
@malcolmarcher4239 Thank you!
Very nice video, would you be interested in using a universal remote?
@sofabaton Thank you for watching! Yes, very interested. I use 4 different remotes now for the different components and there is a lot shuffling depending on what I’m watching, powering up, and shutting down.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you!
Thank you Kevin. You have a nice home cinema Kevin. I hope you keep uploading videos Kevin. Stay awesome, Kevin.
Thank you! Will do :-).
Hi Kelvis, You really need to run a demo of your equipment
How loud are your speakers getting only running off the cinema 50? I would think the speakers you listed would need alot more power that what that cinema 50 can output.
@leecaldwell1029 it gets plenty loud in my theater room. I never go pass -10.5 on my receiver volume. With my LCRs been pretty efficient, and only about 12ft away, I would not need more than 16-32 watts to get ‘reference’ loud. The Krix are also on the efficient side.
I applaud your efforts. And…you’re underestimating what a real screen does. Will any white material reflect light? Yes. Is there a difference between even good screen company’s different white screen materials? Yes. I’ve seen a good screen shrink the delta between a lower cost projector and a higher cost projector, pretty meaningfully in fact. So when budget permits, just consider a real screen from a real screen company.
Thank you! What are some good options for screens that you recommend? Maybe I can order some samples for comparisons.
Like many others have said, it’s surprising to see Krix in the U.S. I’ve been really curious about them for a while. I follow several Aussie channels and they seem to love them. I’ll have to keep Strong Technical in mind when I decide to upgrade my surrounds. That model looks as though it would work for height channels, too. Pricing seems great!
They sound great! They are heavy for sure, but with the right mounting they can be placed pretty much anywhere. Thank you for watching.
I have a cinema 50 and a MRX 1140. Want to hear my 1140 in your room
Thank you for watching! For the longest time I had my eyes on the MRX 1140. It looks slick and I bet it’s got plenty of power. I bought my cinema 50 from accessories 4 less at an unbelievable price. No complaints on my ends. What would you say is the biggest difference between the two?
Great video.
Thank you @piperboywilliams !
Looks great
Thank you!!
When listening to 5.1 movies, the up-mixers can make the sound objects sound totally independent as to what's coming from the bed layers. However, when listening to a two channel rendered movies where possible, imo one should turn the height channels off. Not unless one wishes to hear the same bed layer signal coming through the heights 🥺 The benefits of externally amplifying the height channels! "Before we let you leave, your commander must cross that field, present himself before this army, put his head between his legs, and kiss his own arse" Braveheart 😊
This 5.1 mix was great with the upmix! Thank you for sharing! I love Braveheart!!
When we build a house 40% of the space is a home theater 😂
Funny, but true lol.
Terminator 2: Judgement day for me. VHS, DVD, DVD extreme edition and Blu Ray. Only missing the 4K upgrade.
That one is a classic! I’ll be back! 😊
Fantastic job! 😅
Thank you!!
This hobby is unfortunately a never ending story when it comes to upgrades . Great system especially because its mostly DIY. I appreciate your enthusiasm.
@denniso9503 thank you!!!
Can you please do a run through of the obsessive compulsive Audyssey app calibration?
@djparra41 let me see if I can put a short video together this week. Is there anything in particular that you would like to see?
@@KevisFilms awesome thank you! I’d like to see start to finish, any additional equipment/programs (if needed), before/after graphs of time alignment would be cool and personal takeaways/benefits and whether it made just the main listening position better/all seats/or some seats more than others. I know it’s a lot but this isn’t well covered and I believe it to be the future go-to for tuning. So to have someone break it down into something more digestible would put you on the map. Thanks again sir!
I like this. Let me work on it. I have a few planned videos ahead but should not be too long to get one like this out.
@@KevisFilms sounds awesome! I’ll be sure to tune in!
Hi, I too have an Epson projector which is I believe they call it a eshift which isn't native 4K but it's supposed to accept 4K signals my Roku does not. how do you trick the Roku into accepting a 4K signal from a upscale projector Epson 5040
The Roku Ultra that I have is 4K and works well with the epson 4010. Can you double check your settings on the Roku? The epson should be able to use its pixel shifting no matter the source.
Well done 👏🏼 👍🏼✊🏼🏴🇬🇧
Thank you!

Great looking room. Love seeing how far youve come over the years, it gives me inspiration to one day have something like this when I finally own a home. I also really need to make the 40 minute drive to Audio Advice and check out that $300,000 theater room, wow!
Thank you! Definitely make the drive to Audio Advice. The staff was super welcoming and I was the only one in the room (it was early) enjoying all their demos :-)
Room size?
@chriscurry5557 approximately 15’ wide x 25’ long x 9’ tall.
Well done , very nice room , where are you from ? I hope to add similar upgrades one day soon. Need all 3 , projector AVR and Subs . For now what I have works and keeps me happy but I have some serous fomo watching all the content out there . I also did my own DIY theatre and help others get started . I have heard good things about LS12000 and the UB5050 projectors by Epson . All the best to you!
@vibeinstalls9890 thank you! I was born in Puerto Rico. Good luck with your upgrades! That’s awesome that you help others get started. DIY was definitely a great way for me to save money that I could use for some of the equipment upgrades.
will you be adding amplifiers to your set up. Looks great and thanks for the video.
@petermuwanula7142 I see me adding a 5 or 7 channel amp in the future. But for now, honestly, my speakers are super efficient and don’t need that much horsepower.
Nice room. Im running a 135-inch screen built the same way. Currently running an epson 3800. Went to mwave and got a chance to see the epson ls12000. Scheduled to pick it up on the 6th of july.
@triplerinse thank you! What was your favorite setup at MWAVE? I’m planning to go 2025! Congrats on the ls12000!
@KevisFilms well the projector room comparison was extremely helpful. Got to see the ls12000 vs the jvc np5. Which is the 2 I was stuck between. So good to see them side by side.
Always admire people who are willing to get their hands dirty. As well as a sense of achievement, one will also feel immense pride. And BTW, on this occasion, rightly so too! Yes, I would imagine when it comes to the sonic abilities between yours and audio's advice 300k set up one might not interpret the sound has being hugely different. However, when pressing pause or mute, the noise floor within itself should become apparent, and I don't just mean from the components neither. In my experience, some of the biggest culprits for producing noise are actually unshielded cables. The better the quality of shielding the quieter the room shall become.
Thank you! Audio Advice’s room was silent! They really had an unbelievable setup!
Enjoyed this
Thank you!
I have that same 2 channel amp to power my rear surrounds connected to my Denon 3800h. Was worried as I saw negative reviews for it but so far so good. I had it for a year and it blends in perfectly with the other speakers with no coloration. Nice theater.
@Gman2002 Thank you! I really have enjoyed mine as well. I'm using it to drive my surround back speakers. Can't beat it for the price.
Great room and great video!
@GeorgeTheaterAtHome Thank you! I enjoy watching your videos as well! What did the bass sound like in the JTR room at MWAVE? I'm all in for attending in 2025!
@@KevisFilms thanks! Glad you’re enjoying my videos. The JTR bass was something that was almost felt more than it was heard. My pants and shirt were vibrating like crazy 🤯
Nice setup! I had all Klipsch for a long time with a cheap 1080p projector. Family movie night was the absolute best. Love the speakers behind the screen, I would have loved to gotten that far. Are you planning on an equipment rack eventually?
Thank you! I love family movie time! Popcorn, a snack and a drink! Maybe a rack way down the line. I like that the receiver gets plenty of air in the open.
I used to have those sony speakers. Not too bad for the price.
Those speakers were great to me for over 14 years! I still have them.
Thank you for sharing your home theater journey. Looks like a nice system.
Thank you!
Dope room bro! You've done a lot to make it like a proper theater.
Thank you!

Where did you purchase your Krix? I couldn’t find a dealer in the US.
@rick-val22 I bought these off strong-tech dot com. They had six left at the time of purchase.
