What values does Dragonfly bring?
zhlédnutí 27Před dnem
Fully compatible with Redis and Memcached APIs, Dragonfly requires no code changes to adopt. Compared to legacy in-memory data stores, Dragonfly delivers 25x more throughput, higher cache hit rates with lower tail latency, and can run on up to 80% less resources for the same size workload.
What’s the Differences between Dragonfly and Redis?
zhlédnutí 58Před dnem
Dragonfly has an inherently smaller memory usage for the same dataset. Dragonfly is faster at both loading the dataset and producing the snapshot. Dragonfly's memory usage does not grow during the snapshotting process, whereas Redis almost doubles its RAM requirements. Link: www.dragonflydb.io/blog/scaling-performance-redis-vs-dragonfly
What are the Architectural differences between Redis and Dragonfly
zhlédnutí 68Před dnem
We adopted a multi-threaded architecture and a shared-nothing approach when we built Dragonfly, an alternative to Redis. Link: www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-dragonfly-took-multi-threaded-architecture-rediss-roman-gershman-rle9e/
Why did we decide to adopt the Redis API?
zhlédnutí 20Před dnem
Dragonfly chose the Redis API for its development due to its simplicity, widespread adoption, and the ability to leverage existing client ecosystems, ensuring ease of integration and familiarity for developers.
Why did we decide to create a new code base?
zhlédnutí 612Před dnem
Dragonfly is introduced as a modern replacement for Redis and Memcached, designed to handle high-frequency, low-latency workloads with improved scalability and efficiency. Its unique architecture allows it to vertically scale, making it simpler to run, monitor, and manage, which translates to cost savings and enhanced performance for cloud workloads. Why did we open our source code on GitHub?
zhlédnutí 546Před dnem
The landscape of open-source software is evolving in order to continue to thrive. Business Source Licenses (BSL) are necessary for sustained innovation and are being embraced by leading open source innovators. www.dragonflydb.io/blog/open-source-is-dead-long-live-open-source
How did we decide on the Dragonfly Architecture?
zhlédnutí 16Před dnem

great tutorial and your hard work
Basically Dragonfly is able to scale vertically in a machine using all its CPUs, and Redis doesn't. If you run a Redis cluster with four machines, with Dragonfly you can easily switch to a single machine with 4 CPUs. This is game change.
❤
1. Old Versions that are 4 years old fall out of favour quickly. The do not get security updates or fixes. They are 4 years old after all. 2. BSL ist NOT considered an open source licence. It is considered a source-available licence instax. 3. This licence stops people that need to self host their data if they don't have expertise in house. You can't just pay someone to host it for you on your servers as that's against the BSL terms. So the product in unusable as far as i'm concerned.
Good one, I guess I need Rabbit MQ
I use rabbitmq for message queue management and redis for backend. Pretty good and useful if you use both
how to install dragonfly in ubuntu or any server ?
And still BSL licensed :(
thanks for the comment @drblury! you might find this new video we made about our license interesting: czcams.com/video/pDt1i4pbmSk/video.html
KeyDB is a good fork of redis. Very minimal changes to existing code.
Some background music would make this channel blow up. Good job and good luck brother.
No more redis😅. Dragonfly
Sorry low value video. Not worth a video
Thanks for the feedback! What additional content would have made this a better intro to Valkey?
My take on Valkey is W take. I always have w take. But I also have L takes
Me: I want Fireship to make a Valkey video Mom: But we have Fireship at home
AI generated fake video
You should slap a very low volume ambient music and make a Short out of this hehe
Awesome idea! 🌟 Appreciate your feedback and thanks for tuning in!
I too clicked on this thinking it was Fireship… but instead I got a kind of advertorial for Valkey?
Bro thinks he fireship 💀
these AI generated videos about as informative as they are entertaining. Low effort, low value, this content sucks!
I feel robbed of 14 seconds of content and a fireship video
Valkey FTW!
Really amazing boost. I have tested it on my project and got x25 speedup
Great video! Thanks ;)
Great video! Thanks :)
Excellent video! Thanks :)
looks like a much better alternative to redis. now that the redis license changed even more
Is there any dependancy of stats and sytem usage based on machin type? Like i am doing same benchmarking on Rocky linux where i can see on both the cases i.e in redis and Dragon All cpu's are getting used correctly and memory is also same occupied. Is this due to rocky linux? as per your benchmarks it should be diffrent but in my case its not happing as stats shown in your video.
how to use SCHEDULE subcommand in BGSAVE?
🏃 "promosm"
Good job!
Thanks for sharing this! Great demo!
Why are all the cores at 100%?
Because the Memtier benchmark puts the instance under full load. Dragonfly is handling a much higher throughput in this example
