I remember that hog festival

They used to do this at the hog catches down south before they were shut down but instead they’d put in a 300lb boar with about 6” cutters, whoever got the hog to the ground the quickest won the competition but as you can imagine it was extremely dangerous, it was called The Tuff Man event, didn’t take long for them to realize what a horrible idea it was tho, big ol half drunk country boy ran in one night and took down a big 350lber and as soon as they hit the ground the hog jerked his head back and hit the guy in his temple with the tusk, it killed him pretty much instantly and in front of about 100 ppl including kids with one of them being myself, that event was dropped immediately and it wasn’t long before the hog catches were completely shut down and deemed illegal, ik morally that it was wrong and that certain events were cruel to the hogs but I can’t help but feel nostalgic as it was a part of my childhood growing up in Mississippi, Saturday nights were for the Hog Catch, where 100s of good ol country boys and their families gathered to put their dogs to the test and go for the chance to claim King of the quick catch, it was more than just a redneck gathering, it was like a small fair each wknd with multiple food vendors and concessions stands, dog supply stands with handmade collars and leads, t shirt stands, leather workers, custom dog box vendors, I mean if it had anything to do with hunting or hunting dogs it was probably there, the bleachers were filled each wknd with ppl from across the tristate area, it was extremely family oriented and for me a very huge and influential part of my childhood, this video was extremely nostalgic for me and just took me back to being a teenager all over again, I sure do miss the good ol days when everyone wasn’t a fucking pussy 🤦🏻‍♂️

That was ABUSIVE!!!

It is horrible so see that people "train" their horses to move so unnatural and show such stunted gaits. It looks like they're lame on all 4 feet. But the worst thing is that there are official events and competitions where this kind of riding is rewarded. It should be forbidden to ride and "train" like that.

OMG I am so happy. I just looked this up because I wanted to see what my little horses grandfather was on safari and I found this video. I am like so happy that I have her Tessa is the best I call her Tessa she is amazing.

Someone said something about Arabian Western Pleasure (which I looked up) and it still isn’t amazing (the lope specifically) but it is a million times better than this. This looks disgusting.

This is insanity. Why create a class where the horse is performing behaviors that are completely incompatible with any kind of real world functionality?

Collection is the raising of the forehand and subsequent lowering of the hindquarters which enables the horse to carry more from behind. Not one of these horses are in collection; they are all on their forehands. WP people have no clue what collection is

Sorry, this so-called jog is not a jog at all. It is a 2 beat walk...I am not seeing a moment of suspension at.all. The so called canter is often 4 beat and looks like lame hopping. There are no horses which are actually covering ground. This whole "discipline" is SO dysfunctional that the gaits have been utterly destroyed.
