Hi! I'm Ms. Larsen. Welcome! I post my lesson videos that I use for my classroom here as well as art lessons you can do at home with your kids.
I currently teach art to prek students ages 3-5. Previously I have taught public school K-3rd grade and preK-8th grade at a small private school.

A quick easy lesson! I got the idea from @artteacherkim I couldn't find her video in a way I could share with my class, so I made my own version. Thanks for the cute idea.

We used 12x18 paper, oil pastels, and tempera cake paint in this lesson.
bubble print pumpkins
zhlédnutí 6Před 4 měsíci
PreK students made pumpkins with bubble printing. I ended up changing it and having them draw the pumpkins with oil pastels. These looked great. Then we cut the pumpkins, and made the backgrounds. We have 30 minute sessions so this took us a while.
gyotaku printing for PreK
zhlédnutí 18Před 4 měsíci
We did gyotaku printing of rainbow trout for Pistol Creek Day, which celebrates our nearby creek at our school. Rainbow Trout are native fish for our area. This tutorial also has a super speedy quick example of how to draw a rainbow trout, and a slow speed draw along at the end. We watched the video, then started the printing. As kids finished printing, they went to another table adding black p...

Paper Making and Pulp Painting with lower elementary art

I was debating dividing this into 2 parts. You could, and there is another older version of this from a few years ago. But now I'm at a smaller school, and I think we have the resources (this includes my own sanity! LOL) and time to do both in one class period. So students will get some repetition in this video. But mostly likely they haven't done this before so I think its fine. Instruction is...
Rainbow Art Lesson for Prek and Kindergarten
zhlédnutí 632Před 6 měsíci
My prek and kindergarten students love to draw rainbows whenever they get the chance! I made this lesson for them and it was a huge hit! Kindergarten students have an hour long class and we finished this lesson much faster than our Prek Students. For PreK we have 30 minutes. So we broke each task into a different day. Painting backgrounds, painting rainbows, cutting rainbows, glueing rainbows a...
Cat and Dog Calaveras for Dia de los Muertos
zhlédnutí 5Před 6 měsíci
This is a fun collage lesson for Dia de los muertos. I used a 9x12 white paper for painting the animals and a 12x12 paper for the backgrounds. In class we discussed the symbolism of marigolds and the history behind the celebration in Mexico.
Penguins for Elementary inspired by Abstract Expressionism
zhlédnutí 45Před 7 měsíci
We looked at Abstract Expressionist artworks that showed how artists used colors that related more to a feeling than to how it looks in real life. Then we also looked at a modern artist who uses lines in his artwork. He's on instagram as @thomasphotomas. Then we started this video and got to work! These turned out so fantastic. Everyone's look really cute.
Painted Paper Marigolds for elementary art

We did these in celebration with Dia de los Muertos. But I feel like they could be done for a still life lesson or they would also make a wonderful Mother's Day gift. They turned out so beautiful for everyone!
Year of the Dragon Foldable
zhlédnutí 28Před 7 měsíci
We did this project with second grade. My classes are small. But if I did it again, I'd probably do this with older students. I cut a 9x12 paper to 3x12, 3x12, 8x3 and 3x4 for the nose and eyes.

This was the greatest Art Class Procedures video of all time! OK, it was the only Art Class Procedures video I have ever watched, but I still thought it was awesome! Those kiddos are so lucky to have such a wonderful teacher. Good luck with your year and let's hope for no stabbed erasers! (so sad, poor erasers)
😂😂🥰🥰 One can dream! Poor erasers! Lol

Hey Mrs. Larson its Christian.
Hi Christian! 😃
#Dafthepunk
Wow! Beautiful great teacher too💞 what size is the yarn you are using? Also do you have a link for the cord?
Thanks so much! It's probably just a 4 for the yarn weight. I used a 1/2 inch cord similar to this. www.enasco.com/p/Basket-Coiling-Cord---1-2-in-x-100-ft-Roll%2B9725799
