I need a new cam belt fitting where are you based im Manchester side ?
How to put it back down to its place after I’m finished replacing 12v battery ?
Clip the main section back in then push in the locking tab, they can be pretty dry so some wd40 helps
I have this noise happens when engaging and disengaging clutch when put into low gear and trying to get off you can really hear it when letting off the clutch any clue what it could be?
Abs for ford
Take the caliber off and use a C clamp for the piston in the caliber.. so much easier..
Wow, thanks for this!
Thank you for this video. It's been very helpfull for me.
When i press clutch the sound stops for me.... you have any clue whats the problem ?
It can be a worn bearing but you will need your remove the gearbox to know for sure
Is there a trick to pull the thing up? On my i3 it seems to be stuck.
Yeah its a bit tricky but you will get there
@@maxautouk yeah lost half an hour on that but finally did it in the end. Thanks!
@albertjelica1232 no worries!
Great video, terrible cambelt that had deteriorated so badly by 42,000 miles. Concerning that the replacement belt is identical so in effect will also fray and block strainer and therefore not " fit for purpose "
Its hard to say exactly but around 10-15k. This belt that i fitted is already showing signs of wear. Very poor quality design!
Where does the waste gate cable go can you pls tell me ?
I cant remember now sorry
@@maxautoukoh damn i was asking cuz we have a ford c max and it has the same engine as the focus and we are trying to put everything back together and its the only cable that seems to go around on and back but nowhere to connect. I will note that the shop i am working isnt a car mechanic shop . Still thanks for answering
@jp.med1a when you say cable do you mean electrical connector?
@@maxautouk no i meant the pipe my bad
is it easy enough to change the stub axle bearings if you could have got it apart ?
Yes extremely easy!
How about the crank pulley bolt? How did you tighten it back up?
why would they bring it in for a routine service right after the MOT? thats the kind of thing you get done before an MOT. that bolt looks like its just fallen out - the hold where it should be is still clean. it would have filled with dirt the first time it was out on the road.
MOT in northern ireland are difficult to get and often last minute so this is not uncommon at all. She had this problem for five weeks, so what you see is five weeks worth or dirt build up… not that much as it happens
Bonjour j'ai cette voiture mais mon problème c'est que je n'arrive pas à atteindre les 5 mille tour minute mon accélération ce toufe je ne c'est pas quoi faire si vous pouvez Médée
Sorry i don’t speak French
Fair play working in the rain
Thanks!!🙏🏼
The MOTs here in Northern Ireland are very questionable. I know some people prefer that they are carried out by the government, and there is no incentive to fail or carry out MOT fraud. But they are not thorough enough IMO. They are far too short. Several of my familiy's cars have had 10-15 minute MOTs carried out. That is too short for a thorough inspection. An MOT in GB would take at least 30 minutes surely? And they don't bother recording advisories here in NI. They will only record it if the car fails MOT. Whilst working in the motor trade, I have seen some very dodgy cars pass MOT. They will pass tyres that are bald on the edges. They will only fail a tyre once the wire is exposed. I've had customers who refuse to replace their bald tyres, just after their MOT test, because the car 'didn't fail on that.' Heavily pitted brake discs will also pass here in NI. I've seen peeling wishbone bushings, which have still passed MOT too. Even soft bushings that have been filled full of window bond will still pass a Northern Ireland MOT.
Yeah the lack of advisories is a problem.. so i work Mainly in Enniskillen area and ive seen cars pass with excessive play on the track rod end (as bad as it can get before it comes apart) and not even put down as an advisory they just verbally tell the customer… which of course they immediately forget I also get weird fails that should not be fails! Like i got a major fail once for an entire chassis they wanted descaled… which i did and then it passed… it just had surface corrosion nothing crazy I also had a fail on a volvo because the tester didnt like the handbrake lever adjustment even though the parking brake passed the efficiency and balance test… Its a lottery going for mot 😂
Mate my van clutch is too hard what should i do pickup is fine hard to shift the gear
Disconnect the linkages and change gear by hand at the gearbox and see if its still really tough or not, could be a gearbox problem
Unless it fell out after mot!!
They said it was making the noise ages before MOT!
Glad to see it didn't make a mokkary of your skills. PS you don't sound Irish yet
And you still say bath like a right northerner
@@maxautoukI've never ever said baf or paf. Ever. 😮
@@PiggyPower you do
Tyre looks trashed on the inside edge too! Absolutely shocking!
Wild isnt it
@@maxautoukThis leaves the mechanic in a difficult place. How do you justify essential, safety related repairs to a customer, after their car has just passed MOT? The customer may assume you are ripping them off. Dodgy MOTs are bringing the industry into disrepute.
Hi - my tie rod end seems completely sized and the whole rod (into the steering rack) spins when I try and unscrew it. Any tips? Please
You need to prevent the inner joint from turning as this is what adjusts your toe in and toe out tracking, if youve would the inner rack joint then the alignment could be badly out.. i often find using locking grips on the inner joint and heat up the outer joint super hot works well and then use some locking grips on the outer joint also to get it off
Are you tightening the crank bolt useing the locking tool to hold the flywheel?
Oh yes
Thank you excellent video, ,
Thanks!
Good video, but what if the cam pulley markings don’t line up when the cranks at TDC?
Just move them to the correct position 😁
Is it the 2” or standard hight you have fitted
Standard
Great job 👍
Thanks 👍
@ Max Auto - in the boot, there is 2 of them, one on each high voltage cable - why you only disconnected only one of them? also, i believe all those switches only deactivates relay, so there is no need safety gloves and boots - its only 12V switches
Good question, i didnt explain it properly in the video, yes BMW dont say you need specialist gloves for the isolation of the HV battery just boots to be extra safe incase of strange faults usually occurring on crash damaged cars etc. The secondary high voltage loop plug is significantly reduces the risk of arc flash if you are intending to remove the high voltage cables themselves from a high voltage component ☺️ when doing work like this its always advisable to wear protective gloves 🧤
Fantastic video , did both my rear pads and discs on my berlingo . Had to buy a 36mm socket. Had up too 34mm. Also had to learn how to use that wind back tool. Us pro special kit. Amazing. Need to do front now. Thanks for video.
Glad it helped
Hello. Great video helped me much. Btw need the big bolt of the steeringpulley in the middle also be losen? Or can i just use the tensioner bolt to edit the belt tension?
Im not sure what you mean but if you mean the tensioner then yea you need to loosen the pulley nut then adjust the bolt to tension
Thank you for the great video!! I have C3, 2016, 1.0 68hp bought with 7k km, now at 27k km. So far I have had no issues at all with the car. I am thinking of changing the belt just because it is old. Two questions: Can I figure out, if it was already done because of recall? It was a leased car, so at least the first 3 or 4 years it was at Citroen... 2. In the comments you are saying it is a bad motor, would you advise to just get rid of it as fast as possible or would you say if I change the timing belt then the cause of error is banned and good to go again for another few years? Thank you for replying!❤
The Puretech engines are capable of doing high mileage and being reliable, the trouble is that when they do go wrong the repair bill is extreme! To do what you see in this video with good quality parts from main dealer and the labour at most garages could set you back 1000 pound depending on the area
Awsome! Thanks!!
No problem!
Nice vid, but I'm not sure about the crank bolt torque, I see 20nm and 140 Deg, this could possibly be because new bolt has no pressed washer and slightly shorter, does anyone know for sure?
The torque yield is the 20nm which is the bolt tight, the 140 degrees is the calculation for the stretch in the thread profile of the bolt. When you turn it to 140 degrees it creates a spring tension by elongating the bolt stopping the vibrations of the engine working it loose! These torque settings are from main dealer and apply to all different styles of bolt and washer according to them! 😁 be interested to hear others thoughts
Just attempted replacing mine, agree with the rest, an utter moron caliper design.
Its not the best… 🫣 hope the video helped a little
Not sure if i have the same issue. Had a few issues that pointed towards the turbo, ive changed that and its still smoking and low on power. The EGR is still there, despite a previous owner 'deleting' it.
If an EGR delete is done poorly it often reduces the power and efficiency of the engine and can make it run poorly.. but youd have to make a real mess of it for that to happen

What size socket to undo the brake disc??
Same Q here. I had read it was 32mm but doing the job today it is larger.
@@mattbuckels46 it's 36mm mate found out of another video
Hi yea it is a 36mm hex nut, 38mm on some models and 40mm on the picassos
Nice video! How much time did it take to finish the job?
Without videoing it probably six hours
How belt itself pls
Not sure what you mean
Thanks A Lot for this video! i looked for the assembly drawings of the EPB but they are nowhere to be found! so i could understand the mechanism thanks to You!
Glad I could help!
Dude, the 2008 doesn't have lifting points on the back or front, am i wrong? They are only on the sides.
I cant remember where but i did find somewhere to put a stand when i did a rear exhaust on one of these
You set the Caliper carrier bracket bolts to 110Nm is there a torque setting for the Caliper pins ?
Im afraid i cant remember now sorry… they are typically 25-30nm but i cant say for certain
easy job save a good deal of money DIY too
You bet!
At 4:50 you have the pads on the wrong side. Left outer and right outer front needs to be swapped😂
Thanks for the comment but you are mistaken, the inner pad has three spring forks that clip into the calliper so its the only way it can go. But yes it is unusual for the wear indicator to be on the outside edge
Did you get a OE muffler or after market. I have done this replacement my self and the back box now the top of it hits the chassie of the car when i go over speed bumps.
Does yours sit low enough or is it also bumping into the chassie of your yaris ?
Yeah sometimes the need a good hammering to get them into shape… quality of parts these days is terrible
@maxautouk I noticed that the hook/pin is welded in a different position and it's why it sits too high up. I get a nice bang when going over a speed hump.
Thank you for a very helpful video. IMO it makes no sense to try normal Torx in this case. I have damaged one and then bought torx for impact wrench. And that one worked very well.
They are crazy tight too!
I was just stranded on the m4 near Cardiff luckily I bought a belt last week as was squeaking.. this video literally saved me thank you
Aw sorry that you broke down but glad to hear the video helped
Of the 9 mins youll find the "leak" at 8.48 mins.
It actually ended up having an internal coolant leak on cylinder 4 of the head gasket and that residue of crystallised coolant was from a historic leak that was fixed
what caliper did you buy? Will an abs model caliper work on a non-abs car? Thanks for the great video
I think it’s interchangeable, i dont remember what caliper i got in the end buy i do know abs driveshafts fit non abs models so might be ok
