Official Nick Menza remembrance CZcams channel - When Megadeth needed a drummer in 1989, Nick Menza was asked by Dave Mustaine to join the band. Menza first played live with Megadeth on May 12, 1988 in Bradford, England. This prior experience and personal relationship led to the invitation to join Megadeth for the 1990, multi-platinum recording Rust in Peace. and for the next ten years Menza became associated with the band's classic and most profitable era. 1990's Rust In Piece, 1992's Countdown to Extinction, 1994's Youthanasia, and 1997's Cryptic Writings. Released worldwide on September 24, 1990, Rust in Peace was a hit with fans and critics alike, debuting at No. 23 in the US and No. 8 in the UK The album featured the singles "Holy Wars", "The Punishment Due" and "Hangar 18", Rust in Peace went on to sell more than a million copies in the US and received Grammy nominations in 1991 and 1992 for Best Metal Performance.

Previously unreleased drum-cam footage of late MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza playing along to the band's classic song "The Disintegrators"
The HD video, shot in a two-camera-angle mix, was filmed in March 2014 at Uberbeatz Studios in Seattle, Washington and is believed to be some of the final studio drum recordings of Menza before he passed away more than two years later.
The footage was supposed to be used for the late drummer's first-ever instructional DVD, "Intense Mega Drumming", that was to feature 10 re-recorded classic MEGADETH drum tracks with tons of tips and tricks from Menza's arsenal to help teach anybody out there become a better player. The DVD, which was produced and directed by Kari Pearson and Menza's manager, Robert Bolger, has since been shelved.
Cryptic Writings is MEGADETH'S seventh studio album. Released on June 17, 1997, through Capitol Records. It was the band's last studio album to feature drummer Nick Menza. His departure would mark the end of the band's longest lasting lineup to date, having recorded four studio albums.
The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in October 1997 for shipping 500,000 copies in the United States.
The first 500,000 copies of Cryptic Writings in the U.S. were released with silver background album cover. A remixed and remastered version, featuring four bonus tracks, was released in 2004.
Seven years after its original release, the album sold 850,000 copies in the United States and won widespread praise from rock radio programmers. The song "Trust" was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards and became the band's highest charting song on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks.
Late in the evening on May 21, 2016, Nick collapsed after suffering a heart attack during a concert with Chris Poland and Robertino "Pag" Pagliari in their band OHM: at The Baked Potato in Studio City, California and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said Menza died of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Nick rightfully earned his place as one of heavy metal's fiercest drummers during MEGADETH's 10-year commercial peak. The highlight of his career, Nick said, was playing Rock In Rio before more than 100,000 people. The lowest point was being fired by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine while he was still in a hospital bed after surgery to remove what doctors feared was a cancerous growth.

back then, you had massive ego's esp dave mustaines what would it actually mattr who opens {alice in chains apparently because they were "still green" {new} and who closes the show a feud between megadeth and slayer its history, it's in the past the most Importnt thing is the kids had a good time its about entertaining them they are the reason you hve them nice houses, all the drugs and booze access to anything you want but just don't forget about those kids who worked double shifts at mcdonalds just to save and watch you play, DON'T forget where you came from, and who helped you along the way... I kind of like that his drum riser/rack squeaks loudly right before each snare hit. The motion of his arm to do the snare hit must cause the specific movement in the rig to make the metal on metal friction sqeak each time.
This is fantastic! Byzantine is one of the most underrated metal bands. Somewhere they have a cover of Frayed Ends of Sanity by Metallica that is incredible as well. The metal world should give them their due!

I saw the show in Lakeland and it was freaking insane. Slayer played second and the barricade by the stage kept breaking and falling over. In their live album that they released in the early 90s, CD1 what's the Lakeland show and you can hear Tom Talk about being careful and stuff that's because of the barricade.
There was something about Nick Menza as a drummer. Some drummers are good but some just have a energy around them and people love them. Thats Nick
