Strokes in rats

This video looks at strikes in rats, the symptoms, the treatment and what to think about. Apologies it’s another sad one.
Day 8: Swinging door
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 3 lety
Today’s video looks at making a more unusual Agility obstacle, the swinging door. The rats have to push through it to get past it. This uses offcuts of card, a bamboo skewer and straw and some tape.
12 days of Enrichment 2020: wall jump
zhlédnutí 1KPřed 3 lety
Today’s video looks at making a very simple wall jump for your recycled rat Agility set. Using some card packing material or rectangular box, a bit of duck tape and some flat card it’s a very easy build and good for posing rats!
12 days of Enrichment 2020: Day 6: Seesaw
zhlédnutí 769Před 3 lety
This video looks at making a rat Agility see saw from card, lolly/popsicle sticks and a bit of cardboard roll. This can take some rats some getting used to but is a good chance to get them familiar with things moving unexpectedly.
Day 5: 12 days of Enrichment: Weaving Posts
zhlédnutí 718Před 3 lety
Today’s video looks at how to make some simple weaving posts, then get carried away and make a mini rat stone henge... all ready for your recycled Agility set.

zhlédnutí 832Před 3 lety
Today’s video looks at how to make a freestanding rat Agility tunnel out of an old trouser leg and some wire.

zhlédnutí 836Před 3 lety
This video looks at how to create a balance beam from some spare card and an empty wrapping paper tube (with the help of a bit of string and some scissors). A nice simple but effective bit of agility equipment.
Day 2: toilet rolls A Frame
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 3 lety
In today’s 12 days of Enrichment we look how to build an A Frame from toilet rolls and duck tape (and a small box as I ran out of toilet roll tubes) that also doubles as a nice foraging toy

Quality of life call example:Bercow
zhlédnutí 3,5KPřed 3 lety
This video looks at quality of life and how when making that call you need to take into account the individual rat not what you might do for every rat. It also touches on heart issues and is a chance to say goodbye to Bercow, a rat I know many have grown attached to too.
How old should rats be when homed
zhlédnutí 3,9KPřed 3 lety

thank you so much for making this video. I can't begin to express how informative and reassuring it has been to me over the years, your experience, empathy and level headedness have helped me to make sensible decisions on behalf of my ratties, with their quality of life coming first and foremost. thank you again ♡🐀
I’m sorry for your poor baby. I believe my 1 year old is showing signs of this tumor.
My boy went limp and blue from choking last night. Instinctively did a few flings after thinking about puppies being born and what's done to dislodge the goop in the respiratory tract. It didn't help immediately but it might have dislodged whatever it was because a few minutes later he was running about like normal. Still no idea what caused it. Was a scary time!
i'm currently dealing with a potential pituitary tumor. the vet diagnosed her with an ear infection but she's showing more tumor than infection symptoms :( thank you for posting this video, as well as all of the other ones you've shared. you're a huge help and very informative <33
Having this issue with my 3 yr old grey and white female sparkles.
Our rats have tropical rat mites and they definitely bite humans. 😢
Super helpful. I came home yesterday to find a rat left on my doorstep she looks like she blind in one eye. It's super swolon and had verry hard blud lump. Gave her a bath feed her and it's fullon of. She's super friendly but verry clumsy
Wow, great information. Now I understand why my dummies are making dirty mess of all their cage shelves. They literally organized their own toilet right next to (and sometimes inside) the running wheel. But still use the wheel for running sometimes, lol. What I don't understand is why companies advertise cages for rats with all these shelves that are too small to install proper litter bin. I thought they were supposed to play on these surfaces. Now I don't know, should I remove these shelves completely?
You are so incredibly amazing! Absolutely LOVE, ALL of your videos. I have learned SO MUCH MORE from watching your videos, than from some my rat's vets. I love how detailed you are, it is so helpful. Thank you so much! You cannot even begin to imagine HOW helpful these videos are. You are deeply appreciated❤
How long do you keep the dry made up moo mix before getting rid of it?
When you were talking about taking the food down to 100-110g, is that only dry food or dry w/ veggies/fruit? What is the g per rat ratio?
LOL, until recently I hadn't realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's a relief! Although what he previously suggested was pretty good, it was a real pain to follow... I just go'ogled the latest by Mario Volpstein, it's so much simpler and potent now!
Thanks for the very informative video !
Could you possibly talk a little more about the fits, please? I came to this video because my boy was what I believed to be choking but sounded like what you described as a fit, there was no drooling, he looked like he was gagging, going be sick (mouth closed) had his ears up and squeaking, it passed after less than a minute, he didn’t loose his balance or have any twitching like I’d expect from a seizure and I’d be really interested in learning more so I can help my boys properly, thank you:)
Wondering if the same rules can apply to mice? My mouse looked like she was gagging last night and I eventually clued in she was choking. I did nothing, just sat and watched her do her thing. A short while later she was fine running on her wheel. Still keeping an eye on her, but she seems fine. This video was very helpful and I’m glad I left her alone.
Hi there, Just wondering what type of soil you use for the substrate in the bottom. Is reptile bioactive substrate a good option? You can buy bigger bags of plant bioactive substrate for less money and in much bigger quantities, but I worry about what would be added to it and if that could harm rats.
Also, would putting a storage box into the bottom of the cage, even if it doesn't completely fill the cage, be a reasonable option for ratties?
People in a emergency click on this because it says help what do I do.. and it's at the top Your thumbnail is horrible and misleading! my rat almost died because of you! You Bullshit for 8 minutes of nonsense before telling us what to do.. shame on you!!!!
Thank you!
15 grams per rat or per 3 rats
Wonderful information! Just what I needed to know. Thank you so very much.
When I put my hand in the cage it’s always the same rat that comes up to my hand to bite me and go away and she once made me bleed now I’m scared of that rat idk
Your CZcams channel is a godsend! I’ve been referring to it so much this past month with my rats. Thank you for everything you have shared with us! ❤️
My girl is going into labor soon, thank you for this video! I took her in unknowing she was pregnant, so this is a first for me! :-)
... bugs... 😢😢😢
Thank you so much for this helpful video.
Have 3 doe kits to join an older pair, two at 7 weeks, the other 8 week. Just checking extra feed issues. This series is such a resource of knowledge. Thank you.
Hi please help my male rat Dylan has had breathing problems for a while but still been healthy and active just the past two days he’s gone very limp and wobbly, I’m scared for him. I’ll ring the vets tomorrow but can you give me some information? Maybe put my mind at rest 😢
tysm for making this <3
Awe man! My baby fell out of her cage and didn’t land on her paws. I thought she may have hurt herself from the fall. Now I realize she fell because of the infection. Oh baby! Thank you for the guidance!
Found your channel searching on Reddit for information about this topic. I just lost one of my sweetest girls to a Zymbal's tumor a few days go. I've had rats for about 20 years and I had never encountered this heartbreaking ailment before. We attempted to drain the abscess but within a day or two my girl went straight downhill. Absolutely killed me to see her hang on until we could get to the vet to have her laid to rest. We also have a second girl who came with her (they were rescues) who is exhibiting the telltale head shaking. I am already gearing up for this to be another ZGT. Do you have any idea what causes them? To see a possible second one is wild because from what I understand they're not super common. I'm so, so sorry you lost your baby to one too. Such a horrible thing for these sweet babies to go through. ;_;
Is it better for the vet to nick it and drain it themselves instead of doing the compress? Is something like that possible?
Your rats are just absolutely beautiful in this video. Their coats are amazing!
What would the barley be in the mix? I have lots of whole barley but am not sure what percentage it fall under and how much to give
You managed that wrap magnificently.😂😂😂
Các bé chuột de thương đáng yêu quá đi
Wauw, wat een fijn dat je je kennis deelt. Ik heb nu al, na 2 filmpjes, veel geleerd. Je ratten zien er echt super fit uit ❤
When will you update on more Rats care, please?😢 2024 so far.
Thanks for talking about organ degeneration.. Because I put my 2 and a half boy (What? This age?) DOWN TO OLD LIFE 😒😔😔
YOU ARE THE BEST! Buck Love!
Thank you for this video!
When you say you use antibacterial on the wood, can I just rub it with antibacterial hand sanitizer and let it dry? Do I rinse it again afterwards? This series is so helpful!
Watching this for serious this time 🥺
Incessant scratching. Ivermectin Spot on doesn’t seem to work, ordered Xeno spot on. Apart from a shave I don’t know what else to do. Vet suggested the Xeno
My rat got pregnant I did not do a thing a male rat when tinder my room when she gave birth she ate them
Is sun cured alfalfa meal good for pet mouse?
Hope your well and having a good start to 2024. I’ve just looked at the test strip vid, extremely informative. Have one of my two girls who scratches for ever, presented blood in her urine which the vet gave us enrofloxacine. Seems to have fixed it. Her scratching continues, ivermectin spot on not stopping her, vet gave us Metacam as she scratched herself raw. Back to the vet as scratching continues, sore area healing slowly. I know you no longer produce episodes but what you have made available is gold. Many thanks
One of my boys was such a solid brick, my other was a squishy pillow 😂
