My first ever FPV flight 8-26-24
I’ve never flown FPV before and I’ve played 30 minutes on a SIM. I have built and flown drones via Line Of Sight, but never FPV so I figured I’d give it a try. It’s fun so far on my first flight! Hopefully I’ll have time to fly more.

How to bypass the receiver if using a Castle or other BEC

Some manufacturers use 6V for the reciever, mainly Traxxas. If you want to use a higher voltage for the servo while keeping the 6V for the receiver, here’s a simple video showing how it’s connected. In this video, I bypass the receiver and power it with a 6V battery while powering the steering servo to 7.4V.

Running the Infraction on 6S with the Max 6 G2 and 5690 1250kv G2 motor with 42 pinion and 35 spur. Using two brand new Hovoo 5500mAh 120C lipos. I was impressed with how many runs I could do back and forth (11 total - not all filmed). Being 45°F, I thought these lipos would amp out, but they held fine, even though they’re only using 12 gauge wire to the EC5 connectors.

You got the exact same speeds that I did on my Kraton EXB V2. I did 58 on the 13T and 65 on the 16T using Amazon Youme Power 60C 4500mah batteries. I have a 5200 CNHL 6S racing battery on the way and I will see if that makes it go any faster or not.

@@dgitalchaos I just ran the pack for the first time. It showed very low IR during the first charge. It has an insane amount of punch compared to my other batteries with very little voltage sag. I will need to raise the lvc with these batteries because of it. I had lvc set at 3.3v for the other batteries and at lvc they would be at 3.45~3.5 when it kicked in. With these CNHL Racing batteries the cells were below 3.3v so they hold voltage right to the end with no real sag. I don't like to run them down below 3.4v. As for top speed it remained the same at 65 but would do it without effort. I did many runs and even just shortly before lvc it would still pull 64. I am going to buy more of these in the future.
@@Doug_Morgan thanks for the update! Good to hear they improve the performance. I’m surprised the top speed didn’t increase, but gearing might give higher speeds with those batteries.

Well, I'm trying to. run a 29 tooth Penion. But I can't get it to mesh with both motor mount screws. Running a1650KV. With? My V-2 infraction.

If the signal you are probing is a serial data bus at 6 Volts, then a square wave (like clock or data) will result in the meter seeing LESS than 6 volts. Because the serial waveform is at zero for about half the time. The meter averages this signal. To really see what's going on, on the serial data lines you need an oscope.
@@stuartgray5877 that aspect doesn’t matter for this demonstration, as most people don’t have access to an oscilloscope. The main take away is that if you connect the ESC to either of those two top ports, you WILL fry your receiver.

I need urgent help, connect my Esc to the top port of the Receiver, in the RPM zone and the one that follows, since I did that now when I connect my Esc to the bottom connectors it no longer turns on at all, it's as if There was no signal, and when I plug it into the RPM connector it turns on a permanent red light but not pairing does anything, I press buttons and nothing PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE

That pinion and spur mark red on maxx v2 chart it say not recommend to use 26/46 is accelerate at 1.77 sec that would do nice high speed

I just built a dual motor kraton 6s from the ground up with the 4985 build g it for speed runs. I haven’t run it but it has a 34t spool and 30t pinion… I have no idea what I’m doing but figured two motors could push this a little better and seen people with that set up in the limitless do 80-100 mpg usually on 6s. Any ideas I’m all ears I have all kinds of gears and differentials ?!?!
@@SpeedrunTnRC the main thing is batteries. I’ve gotten the stock system to 106MPH with gearing. I’ve never tried dual motors, but the record holder last time I checked was 221MPH with a single motor. It depends a lot on the road you use and if you can ease into the throttle to keep it from amping out.
@@dgitalchaos I added a gyro and perfect pass today it’s all ready to go just pinion selection and a few laps on the street see if it shakes anything loss or it’s goi bc straight. Not sure I’ll fit 4 4s seems two 4s 6500 mah and 2 5200 mah is all I’ll fit I have a 9000 mah but it’s too long… lots of people are doing dual motors I think they miss the point that double torque means smaller spool bigger gear potential?!
Wow 106mph stock I guess it’s apples to oranges but my kraton didn’t go that in km lol on stock but all I did was add a 20t and call it a day
@@SpeedrunTnRC I meant to say I got 106 MPH on the Infraction on 6S with stock electronics. I got 74MPH with the stock electronics on the Kraton 6S, but was just messing around and not really trying for speed. It was super squirrelly above 65MPH due to the stock tires.

Awesome.!! 👍 👍 👍 I've just finished my Limitless V2 (my 1st 1/7 RC😁) & I've fitted a Hobbywing 8bl150 G2 6S ESC & a Rocket 4092, 1650kv motor.! Unfortunately it's running way too hot, I've modified a cheap motor slide plate to accept a 26 tooth pinion on the stock 39 tooth spool & I've upgraded to a 34,000 rpm ESC fan & I've got 2 of them on the motor heatsink.! They're only 25mm & 35mm & they do push a lot of air, but I'm getting some 50mm ones to use instead as well as a heatsink that covers the entire motor.!!! I've now ordered a couple of spools to try out, a 42 tooth & a 46 tooth, hopefully they'll help. I'm not looking for a super speed run car, I'm after a reliable daily driver... I'd still like to get around 80 mph out of it... I never usually get my ESCs anywhere near thermal shut off, if it happens I immediately gear down to prevent it.. How safe is it to let your ESC repeatedly go into thermal cut off.??? I'm prepared to get myself a Hobbywing max 6 combo like yours if I can't get the 6S ESC & Rocket motor to work the way I want.! They cost around £230/$295 in the UK, I don't know how much they are in the US. I've been in the hobby for 5 years & I'm totally addicted.. I've got around 50+ RCs of all sizes, prices & types but my biggest, fastest ones so far are my 1/8 Hobao GTS & GTB, my PB is 78 mph using a similar system that I've fitted to my new Limitless.! Like I say, this is my 1st 1/7 scale... I'm EXTREMELY impressed with it so far, it's just on another level altogether.!! 😁😁👍👍 Do you have any tips for these RCs.? I wonder if that motor is too large to push the 1650KV motor, which would heat up the ESC quickly. The 8BL150 G2 might be too small for the Limitless to constantly run 80MPH. The gearing your using should net you at least 106MPH if it doesn't amp out first. The 46T spool will help reduce heat and top speed, but even so, I think you'd be constantly pushing the system too much at 80MPH. These Arrma RCs are certainly awesome RCs, with tones of upgrades available. I would recommend the Max 6 G2 and 4990 G2 combo. It's $234 here in the US, but this new Max 6 G2 is much better than the previous version of the Max 6. Even if ran on 6S, with the proper gearing, it'll do 80MPH all day without breaking a sweat.

That 150 amp ESC & 4092 motor are much better suited to 1/8 scale cars, I'd just be asking too much from them to run a Limitless geared for 80 + mph & I'd eventually kill something. I could set it up to do around 60 mph & it'd be fine I think... But it's a LIMITLESS, why did I bother buying it if I'm not going to make it go fast.?? 😉😁😁... It deserves to have the best gear I can afford to fit in it.! The Hobbywing Max 6 combo is definitely going in next payday.!! 👍 👍 👍 (As much as I'd love to, there's no way I can afford 8S Castle equipment... Well, I mean I could... But I wouldn't be able to go home to the missus for a month 😂 😂.. She's not daft, she knows how much my toys cost).! Those Rocket motors are very good value though, I've got a few of them in all sizes & kv ratings & I'm quiet impressed.. I've noticed that they do run hot though.. Cooling fans & heat sinks are essential.!! I definitely recommend them, also their predecessor, the Surpass KK series motors are very good, I use their 3660, 3670 & 4074 motors paired to a HW Max 10 or WP-SC8 120 amp, 4S ESC in most of my SC & MT rigs & I've hardly ever had any issues with them.! Replace the bearings & they just keep on spinning.!! 👍 👍 They can be picked up for as little as £15/$20 in the UK. Thanks for replying mate.! @@alantaylor353 a 60 MPH Limitless would be a shame! Again, make sure it's the Max 6 G2 combo with the sensored set up and built in bluetooth. Here in the US, the Max 6 is only a couple dollars more than the previous generation.

@@antoinefabrega2603 I don’t have the parts list, but used the center diff carrier from a Hong Nor Sabre X3, as well as the fuel tank, and engine mount. The throttle servo is just on stand off posts with a spare servo I had laying around. Center diff is stock, and I also rotated the front and rear diffs 180°.
Way too low of a kv motor for only 3s .. thats only maximum 25,200 rpm, even geared up you're only using half the potential of that motor ..you should be 40,000-50,000 at least if not more..thats a 6s motor , 2000kv x 25.2v fully charged = 54000rpm.

@dgitalchaos Nice runs! I'm thinking of doing those clipless mounts, what's the fastest you've gone on the truck with them? Any concerns with them holding up to high speed (130+)
The fastest I’ve gone is 127MPH. Have had zero issues with the clip-less mounts. I use a black paint pen to cover the scratches caused by roll overs when I’m just messing around with it.

I won’t be recommending RadioLink to anyone. I tried the RadioLink RC6G3 V3 with the R7FG receiver and my range was 800 feet, which caused me to damage my Felony body. I sent RadioLink two emails and never received a reply. I returned the RadioLink and 5 receivers to Amazon for a refund. You might have to accelerate slower to get full speed or might need better batteries. I kept getting 119MPH but did finally manage 120MPH on this system.

So if I used this on a HPI Trophy Flux 1/8 buggy, what speed you reckon I could do on 3s with 30T or 20T pinion?
I’m not sure what your final drive ratio is, but it probably won’t run well with the 30T pinion (cogging) and I’m guessing you’d get about 65-75 with the 20T on 6S.

I reset the Infraction to stock and took out the Max 6 G2 combo. Not sure if it would still have the logs after a reset.
Ok. Just curios rpm/ voltage / current from graph and temps when hit 100% tps. Max6 g2 will keep logs if you dont delete them. Im doing same similar combo. (Max5 g2) Just hit 29500rpm/ 28.5v / 370amps. 110mph 46/46. But loose control after 0.8s 100%
You needs a 2 speed gear ⚙️ to get some real speed

Awesome speedrun and congrats on getting an Infraction running a new HW Max 6 G2 combo over 120+mph. I currently have my XO-1 with a Castle MMX8s\1717 combo hoping to get to speedrun her someday when i find a good enough location in OKC.

@@dgitalchaos She sure will especially since she's all rebuilt and ready to go. I also got her converted over to mostly V2 spec but left out the a arms and a few other small things. Someday i plan to get an Arrma Felony or Limitless and make it a street basher and speedrunner maybe put the same combo i have in my XO-1 in the Arrma.

very nice record on the Infraction !!!. mine is all stock hitting 62mph lol . and what you said about the body affecting speed runs. I agree with you , air becomes very dense at high speeds!!!, i do speed runs with little cars (like 1/18 scales) and man if i use a truck same setting oor electronics hitting maybe 56 to 57mph, the truck(teton/granite grom) makes a wheele/flips over and is gone. and with like the typhon grom i can hit over 75mph and that thing still on the ground. so yes body or shapes will affect aerodinamics/!!!! again congrats on your new record bro!

Thanks for the great video. i want to do this set up. Do you mind doing a quick video of how you set up your BEC? Showing which wires go where on your Sledge and where you put the BEC etc. Would be helpful. I think I need to do this to speed up the slow servo on both my sledges.
I no longer have the Sledge. I’m trying to remember how it was wired, but without having it in front of me, I can’t visualize it.

@@scottdill3268 it should be the same as the video, but instead of using the battery like I did, pretend the battery is the ESC and put it in channel 2. Don’t forget that Traxxas receivers have two channel 1.
So can we essentially use the cheaper kit TRA6589 Instead of paying the $100 they want for the XRT or xmaxx TRA7885? It’s not much more power and they are super small LEDs. Am I wrong? Thanks.
No, the 6589 uses a 3.3 volt system from the 8028 (which takes one 2S or 3S to power). You’d burn out the lights and module immediately if you connected them to more than 3.3V.

Using the stock Arrma mount, it fit right in for me.
Castle esc can be changed to put out the 7.4 volts, right?
Yes, from 5V to 9v, but requires the CasteLink and a PC. The newer one can be programmed via a Bluetooth module.
