    Will the cubic always be factorable? Also does it matter the root I take?

      The cubic wont always be factorable. And it doesn’t matter what root you use, but a cubic will either have 1 real root and 2 complex or 3 real roots which leads to complex cube roots. but either root of the cubic will still give the solution to the quartic

      @@Visions_Tutoring Thanks for the response. With testing I think I found an explanation for why the cubic has 3 values. If you consider that the quartic has 4 factors: (x-x1)(x-x2)(x-x3)(x-x4), there are three ways to combine these in order to get two quadratics. I tried this with a cubic that had 3 rational solutions, and all 3 led to the different combinations of quadratics. Edit: I'm sure you knew this, but I thought it was cool to point out. Also, I've seen a false explanation once where someone said to take the "smallest root," rather than just saying "doesn't matter."

      @@ta_ogboy9998 Well, It really doesn't matter which root of the cubic you use. They just lead to different combinations of quadratics. Though of course, if you use the complex solutions to the cubic, you will need to do extra work but any of the 3 roots will give a solution to the quartic by making two quadratics.

    Is there any method that output all 3 of the solutions of the cubic polynomial? And why did this output 1 anyways? What about the other 2 solutions? Why didn't this output them?

      that's the problem with the cubic formula it gives only one solution, though you can find other 2 from this using primitive roots of unity for n=3

      You just have to use the roots of unity for cubics, which is (-1+isqrt(3)) /2. If a cubic has three real distinct roots, then you will get a complex cube root, where you then have to use De Moivre's theorem. The reason this only gave one solution is because it outputs the real solution.
