I think I find it more weird that like you are on a beach, water gets retracted back for waves, they are standing. They either should have known or it's for effect, because that water wave would just keep going around the planet as there is ground there.

The reasons guy died are 1. He was stupid to watch the waves instead of getting inside as fast as possible. 2. The lady wants the data, and because of that, both of them did not return on time despite several clear warnings from the pilot.l amd they also saw the monstrous waves.

The reality we are too small to put into perspective and understand is time. We have grown used to one way of thinking of time but when zooming out a little from the secured home of our planet time works so.. differently. The same happens on quantum scale as physics change alot when you get to that size. Physics seem to really work differently based on scale and i wonder what happens the further we see into the universe.

A wave that large wouldn't be able to travel far over land that is covered by only a few feet of water. Especially in 130% earths gravity
