Thanks a lot for sharing the lf config, I've been already using lf for quite a while but you showed some stuff I didn't have and I'll add. Previews have been a bit hacky indeed but previewing images with ctpv and kitty seems well integrated enough and it gives terminal flair so I'm running that.

This is very similar to Markdown in Obsidian. I have been using Obsidian for several months now. But recently I've switched over to writing all my Markdown notes in VSCode. The reason why is that I can have all of my Markdown notes and the source code together in the same repo. I am using extensions such as Dendron, Foam, WikiLens, WikiBonsai to have the same features as Obisidian, and then also I can use vim emulation in VSCode using an extension called ModalKeys, which I can extend with custom markdown commands, such as the VimWiki feature of creating tables. It's all super useful.

One issue with modern gaming is stuff like Denuvo drm that makes it so that a game even if it is a single player offline game to be authenticated by Denuvo servers at least one every two weeks. Also denuvo can limit, if enabled by the game developer, the amount of computers your game can by played on. Another issue are kernel level anti-cheats that can have full access to someone's computer, can cause driver issues, and more often or not, these types of games block Linux wine/proton compatibility(which is blessing in disguise type of situation).

Dude, converting from mp3 to FLAC makes zero sense. The loss is already there. Now the files just take more space. It's like blowing up a 240p video to 4k. Yeah the file will be larger but there's no added quality. As someone who once wrote an experimental media player wrapping ffmpeg libraries, including a ring-buffered audio implementation, I can say gapless playback can be done with any format, the code just needs to be able to upkeep a constant buffer of decoded audio and basically keep both files open at the same time, feeding data from the files played continuously that same buffer while making sure to pre-cache the start of the next file even while the previous file is still playing. There's absolutely nothing inherent in mp3 which would make it have gaps, it's just the media player's implementation which is worse for mp3 in this specific case.
K maybe you are right. Yes there is no quality 'increase' in the conversion I showed. However, mp3 file format wasn't designed for gapless playback. That is a fact, whatever programming tricks you use are not truly 'gapless'. Eitherway thanks for your input.

I'd recommend you read up on audio file formats. FLAC has variable frame length, this is the main feature that allows gapless playback. My arch set up: dwm, alacritty, neovim/vimwiki,X11?? Thanks for the view

I got a new computer and didn't want to pay for Office or Adobe since I was out of school. Decided to try their Foss alternatives and realized how much better everything was. Started with Manjaro and along the way discovered the magic of note taking and Markdown. Decided to try vim so I could better understand tools that use that layout like ranger. Got used to vim motions quickly and decided to start learning to code with Neovim as my editor. Eventually I hit a snag with KDE (it was me being stupid) and decided to try vanilla Arch and haven't looked back at all
