Hello. Thanks for your review. I think you are a very lucky man. I hope you are still enjoying trouble free rides. I just bought a 2003 R 1150 RT. I have lots to share with you. 1st I bought a 2000 K 1200 LT. I was not at the time aware that these older BMW's unlike all other motorcycle companies use a dry clutch instead of the traditional wet clutches which are much more reliable. Yes my clutch went out at only 58,000 miles and the bike has to be literally torn in half to replace it. So I bought a motorcycle lift to assist in performing such a task. In the meantime, I bought a 1984 Honda Gold Wing GL 1200 Interstate to ride while Im fixing the LT. Then I found out that the Gold Wings engine runs soo smothly but is leaking oil out of the weep hole for the water pump. So I have decided to replace the timing belts and water pump/seals. Then I decided to buy a 3rd bike to ride until I get those two in good riding condition. So I bought a 2003 BMW R1150 RT. I have been researching these bikes and found that they were designed with inferior drive trains. I found a video where one with only 16000 miles had stripped the splines on the shaft by the clutch. Older BMWs unfortunately designed the rear splines foreward and outside of the final drive which causes them to fail prematurely. All other companies have very reliable final drive splines located inside the final drive where they are bathed in oil. For this reason it is highly recommended that you remove the final dtive and grease the final dtive splines with HONDA Molley 90 only! All other grease will fling away but the molley allows the grease to stay in place. Through the years I have ridden many diffferent bikes and I must say with the exception of a Harley 883, the boxer engine has much more vibration than all the rest of them. The R 1150 RT is also known for throttle surging at lower speeds. There is an electronic mod kit than allows you to be able to adjust the fuel mixture to eliminate this problem but it involves a lot of tear down to install it. I also noticed my 1150 RT has a fork seal leak, but a CZcams video shows that the seal can be replaced by simply removing the handle bar and removing the fork tube from the top without having to take the front tire off. The good part about this bike is when I got out on the road with it, it seemed to be dtiving itself. Like no other bike I have ridden in the past, while at highway speed, it felt more like I was sitting in my living room playimg a video game in a vibrating massage chair. I somehow felt no sense of the speed as I thought perhaps I was doing 40mph but when I looked down I was doing 70mph. These bikes do NOT come equipped with a cruise control but the previous owner supplied a palm assist clip. In comparison the LT does have electronic cruise control and also a reverse gear by selecting reverse position on the switxh and then holding the starter button which then becomes a throttle up butyon to slowly and safely back up. Older BMW owners beware. Keep those splines greased up with Honda Molley 90 and be gentle on those clutches!

I love my Classic 500 from 2018 with 35000km. I don´t see myself selling it. That's why i have two bikes. The kick starter is part of the charm, as well its simplicity, its locomotive exhaust soud , its sewing machine valve command melody, its "infinitely" elastic torque force, and its ridiculous fuel consumption. Well; it's not the absolute reliability, but its so charming that I see miself forgiving it some " niggles", as a broken fuel punp, spraying continuously my trousers with gasoline, a burned alternator coil, a burned courrent stabilizer, and recently a new brake pump due to his ocasional seizing piston.

I'm a new subscriber . A portuguese guy From Porto, and I own a Battle Green Classic 500 (euro 4) from 2018, now with 35000km. ( I own also a 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva 750 ). Roads from Galícia are very familiar to me. I enjoy trying to find where these roads are in the map , to inspire me in my tours. I can write in spanish (portuñol) if you think it will be better for the chain.😁😁 In fact I am following a Whatsapp page called Royal Enfield Ibérica. The great majority of members ( almost 120) are spanhish, and they dont like seeing/ listening/ reading anything in english.😂😂

the bike on my profile is my 2013 classic 500 first of the EFI system and an original indian import with a 535cc factory modification ,, she is my baby but has also been abused and used in all British weathers for 4 years and i am restoring it back to glory as we speak ,,,i also have a restored 1995 xj600s diversion and a 1994 bandit 400cc but in bits and is a long restoration project hopefully parts permitting ..these modern classics need to be saved in my opinion

I feel so relaxed after watching your dream ride , this how motorcycling is to be enjoyed riding in a relaxed manner taking in the beauty of the area you are riding through! I am a Royal Enfield owner too , although my bike is an interceptor i would love to own a classic 500 with it's soulful thumping engjne.

I cut my teeth on 1950's Triumphs, BSA's, Matchless, and AJS motorcycles. The joy of riding these machines was the journey itself, not how fast they could go. As time went by, I rode all the Ninja's, the Honda Super 6, The FJ's, etc, but the bikes I remember the most were those early 500 and 350 British singles. They were the essence of what motorcycling was all about.

I own a 2016 classic 500 , if the back brake is set up correctly it is a good brake.

I own my R1150RT for 3 years now, put a taller Givi screen on it, changed the OEM seats and had custom seats made, wich are much more comfortable, put bar risers on the bike, and a bigger GIVI MAXXIA top case, because the standard BMW topcase can't hold a lot. LED-lighting all around and stainless steel crashbars from Hornig to top things off (and a lot of smaller Hornig accessories which are too much to mention) I love touring with this bike, it is the most comfortable bike i've ever had, and this is a keeper for me. Keep them well maintained, by the book and they will last you a lifetime.

I am a 65 year old Royal Enfield Bullet 500 owner in the U.S. My Bullet is a 2013 B5 model, with a few modifications. I have converted it from EFI to a carburetor, replaced the stock exhaust with a smaller, lighter, and better sounding one, Installed an old school front fender European license plate on the front fender, replaced the thin easy to break stock headstay, upgraded the chain and brakes with higher quality ones, replaced the gauge with the check engine /low fuel light that is no longer needed with a voltmeter, and a few other minor things. I found that Hitchcock's in the UK is a great source for parts and accessories. I also belong to the Classic Motorworks RE forum. I have put 21,000 miles on it since buying it new 11 years ago. I love these bikes, they have a look and mechanical character that no modern bike has. I look for CZcams channels about these bikes. Bullet Wanderer is another great channel for this bike. He has the same model Bullet that I do.

Good information if anyone is thinking of buying a Royal Enfield 😀 like me , spoilt for choice , is fuel injection better than carburettor, cost wise and fuel efficiency ? Thank you for the info 🙏 Must say I do love your bike .

Just the kind of roads I love. Mine happens to be the same colour, got it second hand for my 60th birthday, just 4000km. And I've already enjoyed over 50000km of small hills and mountain roads, Ardennes, Auvergne, Alps, Pyrénées, Scotland, Carpathians...

That was a good review .I am thinking of buying one here in Ireland .That model around 20 years old sells for around 2,500 Euros here.Cheap price if you get a good one .Usually BMW riders look after their bikes .

I have a Classic 500. 'the last living classic' is spot on. The Classic 350 is a beautiful bike but the 500 is the real deal. No digital display which I hate and has a kickstarter which I love. I've called mine HG Wells as it's my time machine, taking me back to the '50's. Just subscribed to the channel so will be interesting seeing your journey on the bike 👍

I have a 2013 Royal Enfield B5 Bullet 500. Mechanically the same as the Classic 500, but looks more like the older Bullets. It has gloss paint and bright unpainted aluminum wheels. I bought it new, and almost immediately converted it to an Amal Concentric MK1 carburetor using a kit from Hitchcocks, and installed a smaller, lighter, and better sounding exhaust on it. I have put just over 20,000 MILES on it during the past 12 years, and it has been amazingly reliable. I had a hard time choosing between the Classic chrome 500 or the B5 Bullet 500, but in the end I went with the Bullet. If I can find a decent one, I would like to get a chrome version of the older iron barrel Bullet 500. Since that one has a drum rear brake, it is a 2016 or older model. Unlike the 2017 and newer models, that one can still be converted to a carburetor. Hitchcocks has all the parts to do it. Digital anything is a huge mistake when it comes to motorcycles. They are supposed to be MACHINES, not computers. That is one of the reasons I got rid of the computer controlled EFI on mine. It also ran TERRIBLE with the EFI, sputtered and hesitated and overheated. I also could not kickstart it. With the carburetor it is easy to kickstart. Hitchcocks also has a very nice smaller, shorter, lighter, and better sounding exhaust for that bike. The properly jetted carburetor and exhaust will probably put it over 30 hp. It certainly feels stronger. Mine was almost unrideable with the EFI.
